I am a life long lover of fibre and on this channel I will be sharing my love of yarn which I love to knit with and from time to time we will delve into the world of cross stitch.
As I get older (and potentially a little wiser!) I am trying to work through my extensive yarn stash and be more considered in my purchases. Grab a cup of something and join me on my journey to work through my stash.
You can find me on Ravelry as Fudgeface1. I'm not terribly active there but love, like many to browse!
If you like other crafts and chatty videos, please join me on my other channel Paper&Twine - link down below.

Hi ! I'm not a garment knitter, well trying to do a slipover and its taking me ages, but have you tried the provisional cast on. Very Pink knits does a good tutorial for this. It's using a crochet hook. I crochet left handed but knit right handed. xx
It’s good to see that you’re feeling much better than in your last video! You had so much to share today and so many things to look forward to! Definitely good to only make whatever brings you joy. In my gnome-knitting phase I made over twenty of Sarah Schira’s gnomes 😂 and definitely got that out of my system! Your yarn bombing event sounds like a lot of fun and I look forward to hearing more! Take care xx
@@mousiemakespod aww, thanks so much for watching, Helen, and taking the time to comment, much appreciated 🤗🤓🙏
Hello Ashley I have just found you & enjoyed your style I follow Alli LDOW Ellie Craft house magic ( who got me into RUclips knitting vlogs 7 yrs ago Gayna TFCLPaula Stitched by Mrs D ( who lives not far from me in Norfolk ) to name a few I look forward to seeing your heirloom dolls ❤
@@suedale1865 thanks so much for stopping by and I’m glad you enjoyed the video 🤗 I follow all those people you watch too. Lots of knitting ahead for me this year 🤗🤓🙏
Just found your podcast! Is that wallpaper behind you or real drawers? I love it! If you enjoyed Lisa See, you may like Wild Swans by Jung Chang It's also a beautiful story of women in China. Sometimes disturbing, as you mentioned.
@@barb2083 thanks so much for watching 🤗 I have Wild Swans, I’ve owned it for decades, but not got round to reading it 🤣 Yes, it’s wallpaper, wouldn’t it be cute if it was real drawers!
I am a little the same, I only knit things that I enjoy making. I refuse to knit anymore cardigans, never happy with the tension. I would have done Arne &Carlos knitted stocking if I hadn’t been ill. A frustrating thing for me is casting on for socks. I’ve made several pairs but the past week do you think I can join the first row using four pins. I think I shall have to arch a few cast ones on RUclips. I’ve knit up a few hens, rabbits and toys this past year, but haven’t sewn any of them up. Most of my knits are charity layettes, adult blankets etc on a regular basis and because they are for a good cause, I am happy to make them. Sounds like you have multiple hobbies like me. Tfs 😊
@@marybarratt2649 yes,I’m a serial crafter! Have you considered using short circulars for socks? I’ve recently switched to this method from dpns and have found it a game changer. Thanks so much for watching
@ will do, tku
Just found your channel. I'm trying to learn to knit... I have aspirations of knitting lovely things however it's a learning curve and will be years before I can do anything. I can crochet, I'm a leftie so I'm hoping knitting will widen my pattern choices. I also dabble in lots of other things such as papercrafting although that's on a back burner at the minute whilst my knitting takes over! How exciting winning cardmaker of the year. I used to really enjoy card making until I found junk journalling then yarn crafting 😊
@@debbiemaddock9509 thank you so much much for taking the time to comment 🤗 I’m sure it won’t be long before you are producing beautiful pieces of knitting. Start small so you can finish projects fairly quickly to give you a sense of achievement. If you like paper crafting, you might enjoy my other channel, Paper&Twine, I do hope you will stop by again sometime 🤗🙏🤓
It’s called a double twisted cast on for the ranunculus. I use it all the time and it works great. I’ve made six ranunculus and now I use the cast on for socks as well and it’s really stretchy. It’s perfect.
@@Serenity-fu8xz I just couldn’t get the hang of it and I haven’t found a left handed tutorial 😢 I might give it another go today, but it’s my knit night tonight, so I might ask for help 🤣 Thanks so much for watching and commenting 🤗🤓🙏

Hi I’ve made 4 Ranunculus and just do a normal cast on using the wider neck stitch count and they are all fine ❤
@@lynnparker1331 I will have to try again, have you done one in lace weight? Thanks for taking the time to comment 🤗🤓🙏
Hi! Ive knit several Ranunculus & i always just do a long tail cast on 😊 I have generally just cast on 90 stitches to start & then did the rows of ribbing. Hope this helps! Give it a go and see what you think about the size & the look. I definitely love my 5 Ranunculi 😁
@@wildcottageknitting thanks so much for the advice. Have you done one in lace weight yarn? 🤗🤓🙏
@OneStitchAfterAnother-kx1qy I have, I did one with a single strand of mohair. That one i found it was extra important to do a stretchy bind off, because the mohair silk just doesn't have the give.
@ thanks so much, I’m going to attempt it at the weekend and if I can’t master it, ask a friend to cast it on for MeV🤣🤣🤣
Happy New Year, good to see you on this thundering Sunday afternoon. Currently working on a Tin Can Knit Bestie Hoodie for my granddaughter. Of course got lots of other projects on needles and ideas floating through my head at the same time. Take Care till next time ❤

Happy new year. Excited to see you pop up. All your finished knits are gorgeous. I did Gnana in the same Giddy yarn as apart from I didn’t have the sparkle base. I prefer my gnomes out of her book (definitely worth buying the book) more although I enjoyed the faux embroidery etc all new techniques. I have just read easy reads over Christmas - the Christmas women’s romance type xx
@@JulieBuda hello, my lovely 🤗🤓🙏 Thanks so much for watching, I’m definitely going to get the book when I’ve been paid next week 🤗🙏🤓
Happy new year Ashley, hope you get fully well soon. I cane down with a cold just after Christmas, so didn't do as much crafting as I wanted, currently working on a crochet ginger biscuit garland for next year and staving off the temptation to make a granny square mini chicken! Love your finished objects. Over Christmas I read "The Christmas Appeal" by Janice Hallett which was a quick, fun read! Also listened to a great radio 4 play called "Miss Happiness and Miss Flower" about a dolls house, lovely!
@@sophiar4196 ooh, I might try and find that play on BBC Sounds 🤗 Your crochet projects sound interesting, hope you are recovered from your cold 🤗🙏🤓
@OneStitchAfterAnother-kx1qy it's well worth a listen, I really enjoyed it and will probably still be online. Thank you, feeling better now! X

I’m only just catching up with my RUclips friends after rather a busy December… and sorry to find out that you have been poorly - I do hope you’ve recovered now and were able to enjoy your family Christmas! x
@@mousiemakespod aww, Helen, been so poorly, still suffered over Christmas, but much better now. Like you I’m way behind on watching my friends, I’ve just seen you have an advent round up which I shall watch later tonight. Happy New year to you, Helen 🤗🙏🤓😘
Hi Ashley, glad to see you’re on the mend, easy does it and all that, who cares about a few specs of dust. I also watched Breeders, I thought it was fab, Martin Freeman is a legend. Look after yourself, I hope you and yours have a lovely Christmas 🎄☺️
Hope you are on the mend Ashley, best just to ride it out at home in the warm though I do hope you made it to knit night! Take care, Tish xx

Great vlog as always, love seeing your progress and hope you have a fab time at the workshops! Thank you so much for sharing, take care x
Looking forward to seeing how your mkal comes outxxx
I didn’t have a mini skein advent but I have bought the Toft advent for a second year running. I am thinking perhaps next year but they are so expensive, that isn’t to say that they are not worth it given the effort and work the yarn dyers take in designing them but I just can’t justify that coming out of the family budget and also I don’t want to treasure it and never use it!
No yarn advent or MAL for me, I have enough trouble trying to fit in watching all the vlogmases and finishing gift knitting! I have signed up for a few MAL patterns on ravelry which I may take a look at in the new year, I am just too busy in December!
You make that look easy, I can just about manage cable cast ons!
I cast on with just my thumb
You make something that is so hard for me look like it’s easy. Wish it really was easy for me.
I don’t knit, just do same look knitting occasionally, so I have no need really for the equipment you used to make your balls of yarn. But I would love to have them just to make the balls because it looks so relaxing and fun. I don’t really have room and would never loom knit enough to make all the balls of yarn that would satisfy my need to do it, so I won’t get the equipment. Maybe I need to find someone that knits a lot but doesn’t want to wind the balls of yarn.😂
Hi, no I don't have a yarn advent this year unfortunately. I have lots of mini skeins already in my stash!! In the past I have had the My Yarny Corner one, which is always beautiful. I don't feel pressured at all, if it gets done that's fine. I don't really like mystery kals, I like to know what I am making beforehand. Please don't feel pressured to vlog every day, you are working and like everyone, have millions of things to do this time of year. Short ones are appreciated. Take care xx
Love your vlogmas, don't feel pressred at all, whenever you post, we will be watching, thank you for sharing, take care x
How lovely that you are making some Vlogmas videos - whatever you manage to upload will be great. Short is good! The mystery gnome KAL sounds quite achievable - I did a Sarah Schira gnome KAL two or three years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. However, as you say, trying to do too many makealongs can definitely become too burdensome! I've never had a yarn advent before but this year I have a crafty one - the Ricorumi crochet advent calendar... but I won't put any pressure on myself otherwise it will no longer be enjoyable! x
Hi, nice to see you doing vlogmas x x x I have the lay family yarn advent... you get 4 packages week one etc... Gorgeous yarn well worth it.. I also have my yarny corner a small business whom dye their yarn at home, daily package so far the mini skeins are so beautiful they also have a you tube channel , This is my first year having these very happy, last year I had one from the crochet society which was lovely to... May I ask you what yarn swift you are using I have a Amish one and some skeins are to big for it... .. I wish company's gave an option to have the skein or have it already rolled ... I don't enjoy preparing skeins, I know some love the skeins but I am sure some out there don't also... I just want to use them lol.... have a good rest of the day looking forward to your creations
