I think it just depends on your hair everybody is different. Some people wait till they are fully locd to dye there hair. I on my 3rd set of locs and each time I dyed them around 6 months and had no problem

About to say yeah, locs don't necessarily get that much bigger or thinner, it can truly be a jack in the box, it mostly depends on your parts but ofc hair density plays a part in how big a part makes a loc, but its usually close in size. Rule of thumb is to start thinner because you can combine more easily than seperate.

Your locs are gorgeous! I just hit 4 months a few days ago and around month 2 or 3 I said I wanted to combine some (I currently have 82 locs) but I’m so glad I didn’t because they are starting to thicken up and if I had combined them they would be way too thick for my liking.
