Nicrew hyperreef $150 light that grows coral!
Would you recommend starting with all for reef instead of kalk? Or do you think it doesn’t make that big of a difference, just cheaper to use kalk?
@XIPUFFIX it is for sure cheaper to use kalk. However, the end result is to keep alk calcium stable. So whatever method you decide is easier. Both are easy to use.
Whats the green coral growing on the glass
@@melaninknowledge3658 that is green star polyps. I'm guess you mean the black wall?
@MaineReef those are the best looking GSP I've seen.
@melaninknowledge3658 thank you.
Tank looks great! Just started cycling my first evo 13.5
@@7h0m4s you got this. Be patient and enjoy every step of the process
I have a 14 gal IM that probably cost me 2x compared to your setup all in, but looks half as nice. Any idea what par your light is pushing out?
@@jaykay3889 I have no idea the par. Never measured it. Maybe I should just for numbers.
Your tank fellows are looking great man, I have the same light on a 20 nuvo and some how have bleached many corals and nems i just cannot wrap my head at you telling us the blues are at 100, i keep mine at 45% and 10 for whites the light is as high as it can get and i get around 100 par on top of the rock at peak time.
@macg2088 how are your nutrients? These lights pack some power. No doubt about that. Yeah 100% blues and 15% whites. Never used a par meter myself.
I have a 20 gallon.... 2 ft long, 17 inches tall. The lights are 9 inches above the water surface. I have 2 Nicrew 50 lights on my tank..... 100 blue and 50 whites. I get about 230/240 high up and 80-100 at the bottom. I have mostly lps, some easy SPS and some softies.
@@douglasachaiba7885 not terrible numbers par wise.
Tank is awesome! I remember when they used to tell us minimum for corals was a 100 gallon with a sump SMH
@joshadam5518 that old school mindset still lingers in the hobby. It's just not true. The Nanos are much easier to care for, in my opinion.
I’m also running a nicrew 50w love to know your lighting schedule and % on blue to white!
I do mention that in the video. Or do you want more in-depth?
What are you running the blues at 100 % and whites at 5 %
Thanks for the updated ! Everything is looking really good. BTW what heater are you running ?
@AdrianAdventures heater is a nicrew heater. I cannot recall the size. But it is a small compact unit.
For you Hygger Mini what's the flow setting on pulse mode. Thanks for the update on your tank? Corals looking great!
@peteyroc215 412 are the numbers you are looking for. 4 means 100% power. 1 is for pulse. 2 is the frequency of pulse.
Great looking tank makes me want to get back into reef keeping.
@@Xmasia1 I think it's time !
Niceee!
@@ebikesandthings verryyy nice 👌
Just bought a Evo . Any chance we can get a full breakdown video on upgrades you did/must haves or your filtration system ect.. thank you
thats awesome! ill try and get an updated video this week for you.

@csflmich2239 thank you. I appreciate the love.
Just got into reefing and I'm in Maine! In the early stages on a 40 breeder.
@@cleland551 40 breeder is a great setup. Where about in Maine ?
@@MaineReef South Portland
@cleland551 not to far. I am in rumford Mexico. When you need some coral let me know !
@@MaineReef will do, I'm taking things real slow so I have plenty of space to add once I get everything dialed in and settled! Looking forward to following your journey!
@cleland551 slow and steady is the best way.
Your tank looks awesome, what powerhead are you using. Also happy holidays 🎄🎉
@@Lewis-gf6on that power head is a hygger mini. Great little unit. Price and performance.
Looking good
@notwoke1041 thank you. Do you have a reef?
how do you clean your glass?
@@fixalot0 I have a flipper mag scraper.
Looks good as always bro! Are you sure that's GSP on the back wall? It kind of has like uniform polyps like a goniapora or alviapora or something. Looks good either way!
@MikeLemming for sure gsp. Just not fully open. How's your reef going?
@ it’s going. Not great but going, it’s about time to troubleshoot the entire system and figure out why I can’t keep sps alive.. I’m having the hardest time!
@MikeLemming I'm not one to say icp ever. That being said, may be time to look your water. Also, your source water.
@ I actually sent a triton icp in on Monday, waiting for the results. I used to use icp analysis and they tested rodi water as well but triton does not. Idk how to get my rodi tested now..
@MikeLemming hopefully tests come back good. How is the po4
Have you tried vitamin C?
@@sandycheeks7506 drink orange juice every chance i can.
@ that but also dose vitamin C
@sandycheeks7506 No, I have not.
@@MaineReef oh well supposedly it helps fight stn
@sandycheeks7506 really ? I'll have to look into it! Thank you. First I've heard of it.
What kind of light? Where to get it from?
@mrgenierises5464 this is a nicrew hyyperreef gen 1. You can find them on Amazon. Gen2 just came out.
Tank looks great can you give a full brake down on what’s in each of you’re chambers
@Rcman1223 sure it's pretty simple. I have a small bag of carbon and gfo in first chamber. With my diy algae reactor. Middle chamber is matrix media. Plus my ato and heater. Last chamber return and probes.
Plate coral? Wgr?
@Shaggyxs it's a bit dull at the moment. Hopefully, a full recovery soon.
@MaineReef 🙏🏻 it was a realy good looking coral. Where you keep your parameters at? I'm having struggels with my corals to make them grow. I have frags 6+ months that are actualy the same size since when i got them. dKh 8, Ca 390, Mg 1320, 1.025 salinity, No3 6.0, ph 8.2, Phosphates 0.13, Temp 77.6. Using AI Prime 16hd at 40% blue channels at 10" from the surface. I got my hands on a frogspawn last week and it's allready dead. I'm using RO water and red sea salt (blue bucket) weekle water change. Don't know what else to do
@Shaggyxs my last test was 3 days ago. Dkh 7.1 Ph 8.5 Sg 1.026 No3 5 Po4 .03 Cal 400 Mag 1200 Waiting on all for reef to help with what the Kalkwasser is no longer able to keep up with. My light is 100% blue 20% white. As for why yours may be growing slow. How is the flow?
Sexy😍
Amazing ♥️
@@aquasalzig thank you !
nice tank
@santicorti5385 thank you I appreciate it
Stunning!!! Any recommendation on how to get into salt water aquariums been doing tropical for some time have a hand full of tanks.
@@TTV_toxic_YT I prefer starting small. Get the basics down. A couple fish some easy corals. Nothing crazy. It's easier than you may think. I hope you dive into the reef world.
@MaineReef how much would you say a 10 to 20 gallon tank full set up cost.
What’s you’re Nicrew settings if you don’t mind me asking
@Rcman1223 12 hr photo. 1 hr ramp up from 0-100% blues. White peak at 20% for 6 hrs.
Beautiful ❤
Could you please tell me how can I get that wave you got going in your tank I got the same tank and a small hygger wave maker
@@UTUBESTEVED it's on pulse full power and frequency setting on 2
Tank is looking good and recovered well.
@3rd_Coast_Reefer it's seemed to have jumped right back. Which is nice. Didn't change anything. I just kept doing the same thing. I appreciate the support. Thank you
Tank is look so good
@jburtlanders thank you I appreciate that!
Where You keep your parameters at?
Usually alk 7-8 cal 420 mag 1300 is. No3 2-5 p04 .03-.1. Ph usually is 8.4 average.
I agree about the fancy gadgets. I had bought a fancy/expensive tunze auto top off, messed with it for over 1 year, it would do good for a few weeks, than radomly pump a bunch of RO without my tank needing it till the emergency shut off stopped it. Aggravating when you strive for stability and spend the big bucks, but gives you headaches.
@blake6360 I couldn't agree more. Sometimes simple old school is the best. Sometimes.
Looking good 💯🔥❤️
@@queencityreefs I appreciate that! Thank you!
Beautiful. Desert star?
@IM14U2NV Daisy Cutter, I believe, is the name, but I just like how they look!
Nice tank!
@sherreef thank you I appreciate that!
Nice reef i have the same tank
@fixalot0 awesome how do you like it ?
@MaineReef i like it a lot it's my first Reef tank, and it's very mangle to me
Would this be strong enough for a 40 breeder ?
No I'd say it would be great for a 40 breeder. Sorry for the late response 😅
Awesome tank!
@jake8283 thanks I appreciate that
u know when i had my fluval 13.5 I experienced weird stuff happen tank crashed fish and inverts dying and i could never figure out why. i do all the same practices today in different tanks and what i experienced in the 13.5 has never happened in any other tank. somethings up with the 13.5 maybe chemicals in the silicone secreting out idk
@daniel_son1215 I'm not sure about the leaching issue. It is possible for sure. However, I doubt that's the issue here. I've come up with a theory. I'm just not sure. So I'll stick to 2 wc a week for a month to help get almost a full exchange of water. Being such a small amount of water volume, anything is possible.
@@MaineReef yeah I couldn’t figure it out but I was so stumped. I remember my parameters like it was yesterday and it was a few years ago. I run elevated levels with coral pro salt so Parameters were roughly at the time Nitrates:5-10 Alk:9 Calcium:450 Mag:1450 Ph:8.1 Phos: .3 Something along those lines and I was having anemones jump into power heads inverts were dying fish were dying and at them time I tried testing for electrical current due to faulty equipment and I seen nothing. I sent out icp tests and couldn’t figure out the problem. So I switch to a 15gal cube and all my problems went away. Say equipment live rock and salt I use today and I’ve since then had the fish that did survive alive today in my tank is this was roughly 4 years ago
@daniel_son1215 is very odd. My parameters are very similar. I won't be sending out an icp. Try and get the system stable again. I'm not sure what has caused this, but I'll see what the system does.
@@MaineReef I would get started possibly on a back up tank to keep things alive in an emergency if it wasn’t for me doing that I woulda been in trouble I know it sounds dumb because there shouldn’t be any problems but based on my experience I had nothing but problems with that tank best thing I ever did was switch to something different
@daniel_son1215 I have a back up 20l and 80 gallon. Neither are set up. But again I'll continue to watch and observe. The fluval has not had any death issues of any sort until recently.
Nice fungia
@bruhman8005 thank you!
Looking great... 👏👌🙌✌
@@queencityreefs things did go a bit south. But watching and observing the reef .
Tough break icp test may be worth it
I did do a full test on the system. Nothing seems to be out of the ordinary. That being said I will focus on having some extra water changes ready.
Great video! I'm considering buying this but I have a few questions for my Innovative Marine 20g Peninsula. How did you hide/run the wires from the front of the tank and do you know if the magnetic backpiece can be submerged so the wavemaker is on the overflow wall? I have a dead spot where detritus is accumulating around the rock closest to overflow wall.
@dhrudave9450 I run the wire across the top of my lid. It's seen when standing over the reef. I'm not sure about the magnet part. My mini wavemaker I do have the mag submerged.
Do ypu do one scoop kalk per 5 gallon ? and just let the Ato add with evaporation in display ?
@@joedoyle785 I started at 3g per gallon in my ato. When I noticed 3g per gallon wasn't enough. I increased to 6g per gallon. It is all through evaporation.
@@MaineReef Thanks im using AFR at the minute but hear good things about kalk the ph i like a alkalinity aspect of kalk
What lid is that?
@Mayhem_6.O it's a lid off eBay. I am not sure the name
The urchin's timing is incredible 😂
