If you haven't seen "Get Crazy," you're wrong! Densmore plays the drummer in Reggie Wanker's band. He's one of the many actual professional musicians who play parts in the movie.

It's interesting music that's for sure. Often there's great instrumental work and maybe a great melody but no lyrics. I'm a lyric guy. I can't stand it when the lyrics are missing. That's why I thought Touch Me sucked. But songs like Riders, LA Woman, Roadhouse Blues. It doesn't get much better than that. I listen to mostly rock music. The Doors aren't really what I would call a rock band. That's probably the keys doing so much work in the songs. I like how interested they were in all types of music and how they were able to bring the different styles into their songs without it feeling contrived or academic. They're legitimately proud of the work they did. Lastly concerning LA Woman. I find the lyrics very interesting. If one were to look closely at Revelations in the Bible. There are references to Babylon as the great prostitute. The mother of prostitutes. Referring to Babylon as if the city were a woman. I'm not sure if Morrison read the Bible. It's rare that one would understand the allegory, let alone someone so young. But he was an avid reader and had a vast intellect encompassing all things about writing especially metaphor. I believe this song is his love letter to the city of Los Angeles. He talks about her being alone, despite all the humanity. He seduces the city and makes love to it. Pretty mind blowing. I hope someday we see this level of artistry again.

I'm sad we don't have Jim or Ray any more but glad for all the wonderful songs they left and interviews and stories told, especially by Ray. His tour of Venice is one of my favorite YT videos.

What a great job Elektra Records did with the Doors. This concert took place just four months after the recording of the first album. In the studio, Jim Morrison's voice sounds great: direct, vibrant, aggressive; sweet, sensitive, melancholic. In the upcoming concerts, a weak, timid voice, with little strength, is still perceived; out of tune on many occasions. Even Jim doesn't have the vocal strength to sing certain parts. For this reason, when this happened, Ray would enter the scene and help him sing. However, this still makes them more incredible and mythological. Eternals.

Now 2024 ....

I wish I had a time machine to go back to 68 and talk to Jim and tell him DON'T GO TO PARIS WITH PAMELA YOU'LL DIE, but he'd probably just laugh at me but if I had paper clippings of his death maybe he'd still be here alive 😢❤
