Tip. With Rootes and BMC cars and vans of the period start the car in neutral without depressing the clutch pedal. If the the clutch pedal is depresed it slows the engine cranking considerably. The clutch release bearing in these cars is a graphite bearing which introduces considerable extra fricton when depressed. Last Rootes/Chrysler UK cars to use carbon clutch bearings were the Arrow range ((Hillman Hunter). Last BMC/BL was the MG MGB
Sir I want to see the vehicle. Is it a car or a bus
It's a 4 door car
I always wanted the estate version, the Hillman Husky
This model had very poor engine lube system and when the first motorway in the UK opened I was told by a recovery chap that although their crusing speed was less than 60mph they died in droves when driven fora distance of over 30miles constantly. Of course they were not new cars at that time but quite common. However I was also told the later version had an improved system?
Lovely example... BUT... What was the lemon coloured car we caught a brief glimpse of? A clip on this???
She's a real little beauty!🙂😍❤👍
My first ever car I owned. Never pump the gas pedal before starting.
Shame the tyre blower was on would liked to have heard the engine.
Wow that's a fabulous car remember them well my dad had one in cream used to Go to school in it then after that had a Renault Dauphine also in cream they were good cars apart from the rust
Learnt to drive in one of these in 1960
Well well, I have the same car in the same colour except that mine is a 1955 Mark viii. Have you recently bought her?
Had her 2 and a half years now
@@nobinutz69 What do you think of her in terms of how she runs?
@@russthebus1 shes quite a lively little thing with the 1390 ohv engine
My goodness, that car sounds like it's on its last legs.
It certainly isn't on its last legs, what you can hear is a tyre compressor
No, it's not on its last legs, the noise is a tyre compressor
@@nobinutz69 Think you need to do another upload without the compressor on.
