Добавлен 18 сен 2021
I love everything tennis. Watch me play and review tennis equipment. I will also throw in the occasional musical interlude. This is my passion and I hope I can share it with you. Join the community and enjoy. I have been playing since 2nd grade and I live and breathe tennis. Trying new racquets and strings is like going wine tasting for me; I really enjoy the different feel of each of the combinations. Let us go on this journey together. Play smart and see results.

My bro Matt and I battling it out at 6 AM. He was a little off today; he normally makes me suffer on the tennis court. I'll try to post some more videos of our battles. I ran out of SD card space this time.

Epic Game - Andres & Andy (Clay Court Tennis)
Просмотров 1163 месяца назад
We battled for 1.5 hours and here is one of the epic games. Andres is using his Pro Staff V13 with ALU Power Rough at 52 lbs. I am using a customized RF01 Pro (2 grams at 12, replaced leather grip with synthetic RF grip) with Diadem Solstice Power 16L at 52 lbs. Clay slowed the ball down and we had long grueling points.

Razor code SOFT is one of my favs!
I think you won more points off Matt in these 5 minutes than I did my whole match last time I played him
@@carloscuevas4442 lol, I got lucky he missed a few forehands. It is usually a frustrating experience playing against Matt and I need to make sure to rest well the night before. B

You sure you didn’t pick a violin string instead? 😂
Sir, I applaud your enthusiasm and dedication. Your serve is better than many at the recreational level. However, by closing the racquet face initially, you're actually opening the face at a critical juncture in the serve, one that mimics the waiter's motion. This will decrease the potential of your racquet head speed. You don't want that. Your mechanics are otherwise good. There's absolutely no reason why you cannot consistently hit 100 mph. With that pace and a serve directed into the body of your opponent, you will be the leader of the clubhouse, a term I heard so many times at the Macci Academy many years ago. My best and sincerest wishes!
@@thomasc4777 great point Thomas and I do notice that I open the racquet face up. I’ve improved my serve since this video but the issue is still there. I do consistently hit over 100 mph with good control so it hasn’t really hurt me at my level but it is something that I should work to improve if I want to get to the high 4.5 or 5.0 level.
Yes, when you close the racquet face initially, the grip moves away from the Continental towards the Eastern forehand. That's why the racquet face opens later on. Just watch your right to left, and your racquet face should remain closed and on-edge resulting in greater racquet head speed. You're very athletic-looking. That's a huge plus. I have no doubt whatsoever that you will achieve your 5.0 level. I'm very impressed with your dedication and enthusiasm. That will bring about your desired result. Best always!
Great match and nice comeback!
Tried Speed Pro 2022 and immediate elbow pain with multifilment/not even poly. Went back to LMR 15yrs old. Still the best if you are able to supply our own power.
This grips starts out extremely tacky but once you sweat, the tack is gone. Disappointing.
The best explanation/demonstration I have seen Many Thanks
It is a little stiff (66RA), but nothing like a Pure Drive or anything. The foam fill mutes vibration, so I think that helps. For those with arm issues that need a poly, I would string this below 50 with Yonex PTP or Tour Bite Soft. I personally found this racquet to launch too hard with a multi. I definitely don't recommend adding a leather grip if you have arm issues. This racquet plays very close to the Technifibre Tfight ISO 305, a little less juicy.
Yonex
I was thinking about this hybrid, did you try alternating mains and crosses? I feel like I want the bite from tour sniper but the power and SnapBack from tour m8
I love the blue frame! You could even use yellow/lime poly in it and that would look hot!
It does look remarkable in person.
⚡️
I still use a Prostaff V13 315g with leather grip. I think this is a more forgiving racket, right? But is the feel similar?
@@andonivr ProStaff v13 is definitely easier to use than the RF01 Pro. The RF01 Pro is raw and definitely a player’s frame. It is rewarding if you have the mechanics to swing it properly. I really like the RF01 Future for most people and customizing it. Call my store if you’re interested (icontennispickle.com) and we can talk about what specs would be best for you.
I have never tried these rackets but they have decent reviews. Maybe I’ll demo it if it’s available. I grew up using heavy small headed frames but I’m in my 50s now (and out of shape) so the weight is an issue so I’m trying to figure out the most right I can handle. I am using Diadem Elevate Tour (teal one) and it’s got some weight and it’s a good frame but it seems like it’s missing something but I cannot dial it in.
I was 5.0 now I’m 4.5 and I have one handed backhand all court player
@@tonygareth221 elevate tour v2 is an amazing racquet and I really enjoyed it. You can add like 1-2 grams at at like 10/2 to bring the swingweight closer to 330 and it really shines too with the added stability. In comparing the whiteout to the diadem elevate, the diadem elevate is like sweet bbq ribs (tastes great from the first time) and the whiteout 18*20 is like Nigerian pepper soup - it will feel jarring and hurt the first few hits but then with the right string setup and mechanics, it just gets so awesome with time.

We have very similar preference for rackets i think, i alternate between pa98 and the wo 18x20 as my main rackets for competitive play. Though they seem very different rackets on paper i can easily switch back and forward between them. I would say for my game it seems the pa98 loves the more spinny loopy shots, whereas the WO maintains the same spin potential, with a slightly lower launch angle but with more pinpoint accuracy. i feel i do not need to change grip or swing style at all, they feel very complementary in that sense. Maybe a slight preference for serving with the WO. They are both 2 of the best rackets on the market today i think (for my playing style at least).
I also love my Whiteout 18x20. Using it with Tour M8 at 45lbs. The feeling of a good hit is fantastic. The feeling of a bad hit, my elbow hates me for. If you hit well, it’s comfy. But I’m also not quite good enough for it. 😀
What's the balance on yours?
I’m not sure , I usually typically just add weight at 12 and in the handle and optimize for swingweight and static weight (not balance).
That is exactly my favorite grip. I think the grip is also very important as much as the string.🤓
Cool. How about serve, how to train that motion?

THe Original PS-85 Pete used weight in at 12.7oz strung.....NO ONE uses that type of weight anymore. Which really makes me question everyone going to the gym these days...peeps still can't hold an old Pete/Roger racquet
Rain and clay...perfect combo 👍👍
A solid effort from both chaps. 👍
Where do you prefer the weight at? 3 and 9 or 12?
@@benjamintoups953 actually I prefer it at 10 and 2. I have 4 grams total there (centered at about 4 inches from the tip of the racquet). It gives a good mix of flat versus spinny strokes.
Surprised the Vcore 95 isn’t in your top list!
@@ThomasFlamant you’re absolutely right. I traded away my vcore 95. I guess I was doing top 5 racquets that I had currently in my possession. Good call out.
Great video, thank you for sharing
Hey, whats your go too strings for this racket?
@@Optiimize a soft poly would work or a stiff poly in mains with syn gut in the cross….something like tourna big hitter silver 7 tour and any synthetic gut

Reminds me of Luxilon 4G Soft which definitely isn't soft, just slightly less arm wrecking stiff than normal 4G!
What stick do you like best for the OHBH?
@@ryansolomon4178 yonex vcore 95d (the Wawrinka version)
@@tenniswithandy You don’t find that tough to play with? How about Percept 97? I’m currently using Whiteout 18x20 with Tour M8 @45lbs.
@@ryansolomon4178 I love playing with the Whiteout 18x20 and your setup sounds golden. You asked for the best for the OHBH and that for me is the Yonex Vcore 95d. I have only had a brief hit with the Percept 97 so I can’t comment fully on that one.
@@tenniswithandy I’ll have to check it out.
@@ryansolomon4178 Percept 97 isn't too bad for OHBH. It just depends on if you like a flexible racquet or not because the Percept 97 flexes a lot at the throat. I think a slightly stiffer racquet is best for a OHBH, in my opinion. I currently play with an Angell TC 97 16x19 and it's one of the best racquets I've ever used with my OHBH.
I have a bunch I like to play with now. My current is a Percept 100D which I am playing around with customizing ( I need some string recommendations and tensions), My backup is a Pure Aero 98 and the "OMG this guy hits so hard but I got this, hold my beer" racquet is my old RF Autograph ProStaff 97 lol
@@dharmaboy75 hahaha, I love that analogy with the RF97A. You literally just stick the racquet out there and nothing can get through it. I remember making a volley look routine when I was out of position like 5 feet from the baseline with the RF97A.
@@tenniswithandy yup, the only racquets I felt were close to this are my ProStaff KFactor SixOne 95s. Super Solid
I just got two RF01-Pro... Where are you adding the weight and how many grams?
@@chensien75 I’d say 1-2 grams at 3/9 is good enough. If you’re more of a spin player, then you can add it at 12 instead.
Cool list! I'm really enjoying Restring Zero/Sync hybrid in the RF01. Killer power and spin when on the attack. But much like other people, I struggle with the racket on defense. Fun stick though! My top 4 fav rackets that I could take comfortably into a match are Shift 99, Aero 98, Boom MP and VCORE 98.
@@Virtua_Tennis ah we have very similar tastes. I’ll try that string combo when I finally order some restring for the store.
Whats the blue string you've got in it?
@@svlagonda7417 it is Alu Power. That works surprisingly well in this racquet since the racquet is already stiff feeling. ALU power ice blue softens it up a bit while still maintaining the crispness.
Yeah I tried Alu Rough and that worked great. Only downside is that the string playability doesn't long. Amazing when fresh though
You don't need to analyse the players. You play, improve & show us your best game🤷
I am not sure what you mean by this. The point of this channel is all things tennis from my matchplay, equipment reviews, pro tournament analysis and commentary, as well as instruction.
@@tenniswithandy My humble advice is to pick any one & stick to it. Now the ball is in your court to use this advice or trash it👍
Whats the blue string you put into the racket? And how did it play?
Also love this setup, head boom pro.
How does this compare to the RF97, can you say?
@@Topspin1 it is a very different racquet. It is more similar to Ezone 98 or Pure Aero 98, albeit leaning on the side of flatter strokes. The entire RF01 is very customizable and that to me is the magic of it.
It feels really gud the pro my friend hits with that stick and its lighter and whipper than the RF 97, for me it’s heavy , I hit every day for 2 hrs and it gets heavy , I spec all my frames to 27 1/2 length , I’m switching to the 300g RF, I added weight to the 3 and 9 and 12 And some to the bottom because I extended 1/2 , all together with strings and over grip I’m at 323 grams and it’s the perfect weight for me especially since I hit every day, I string at 48 pounds even nowadays, currently tried toroline caviar , wasabi , super toro, toro toro, I think my fav is caviar
To me, there are few things more weird and unnatural than an amateur leftie playing tennis. It’s OK when Nadal does it, but doesn’t seem right when it’s anyone else.
It is certainly hard to play against for most of us:)
Nice, I think I might get it
@@mariodelzo you should order it from my store. Icontennispickle.com
Why is the buttcap W instead of RF?
@@tonygareth221 the RF buttcap is a bit sharp in the writing and I tend to leave my pinky off my racquet for some forehands and serves. I got a small cut when I had the RF buttcap on.
8.20.2024 What is great you can get month to month for those of you that don't play 365. I will be testing it with my girls varsity HS team starting 9.5.24 here in Northern California, and more specifically for my daughter’s matches. Historically I record her matches - HS and UTR tournaments by mounting both a go pro and a DJI action camera shooting at 4K and mic’ing her with a DJI wireless microphone and then sitting and logging a detailed score sheet. After they match I spend 2 hours in post matching up my score sheet to the videos, then another 2 hours editing a composite video of highlights and lowlights as a teaching aid for her to review. So, a lot of hours!! If I can gain any reduction in time and increased productivity, then $150.00/year is chicken feed. We shall see, I’m hoping for a lot but I also know software development and the buggy nature of things, so my expectations are not that high.
Never mind the racquet, your son is a really great tennis player 😃
Hi Andy! How do you compare the RF 01 pro and the Radical pro 23 in terms of sweetspot, stability and precision?
If you change the leather grip to for example a synthetic pro performance grip of Wilson effects the racquet maneuverability? I like more weight in the handle than top weight. I play now with the v9 18x20 but the swingweight is approx 340 and the static weight is 305..
I am using the Aero 98 as well. I have lead in the throat Y area to see how that feels at 340grams. Rybakina and Sabalenka are my faves. Rybakina is a silent killer. Love her game and who doesn't love Sabalenka's fire?
I tried the v14 Pro staff but it felt like swinging a brick. I am using a Clash Tour (1st Gen of the racquet), Pure Aero 98, and a RF97 Auto (1st Gen). My dilemma is I am looking my Unicorn racquet which feels like an RF auto for 1HBH, Serves like a BLX Blade 98, and forehands that feel like my Pure Aero 98 or even Clash. I came from using a ProStaff Six One 95 (Mardy Fish Model). My Shoulder and rotator cuff ain't what it used to be.
