Detroit was head-and-shoulders over Chicago, even in '91, the league had to get involved and politics/business along with the Pistons had to make sure Chicago won in '91. Game 7 in 1990 told us the difference between the two teams. The 1990 ECF Game 1: Chicago came out strong until Detroit just turned it on, showing them in the second half they never took Chicago seriously. Game 2: The Pistons came out and blew them out while allowing it to be a game and the Pistons just toyed with them again showing they were dominant. Game 3: Detroit had a 14 point lead in the 2nd half and let Chicago win at the end. Game 4: Detroit didn't come out ready to play, Chicago took a huge lead, Rodman 20 points 20 rebounds, Detroit came back and time ran out as the series is tied 2-2. Game 5: The Pistons had a lead, let Chicago come back, and then went back and fourth, Isiah punked Pippen throwing him down and the Pistons just out-executed the Bulls to take a 3-2 lead. Game 6: Detroit NEVER ran their offense and still stayed in the game with never getting a call as both Paxson and Rodman had ankle injuries and Detroit just stopped playing in the 2nd half and the series is tied 3-3 ... Great for TV ratings Game 7: Chicago won the first quarter, Detroit dominated since and blew out the Bulls with execution and really showing mentally they could have ended this series in 4 or 5 but made it longer. So the back-to-back world champion Pistons only got one more foul shot attempt at home vs. Chicago. Also, the Pistons faced the Celtics with Bird, McHale, Parish, and Dennis Johnson and the Lakers with Magic, Kareem, and Worthy -- both those teams had at least 3 guys you had to double team on the perimeter and in the post, Chicago had only one guy in Jordan. So the Pistons were able to defeat and compete against the Celtics and Lakers winning back-to-back titles with DEFENSE but against a team they were 26-9 against (Chicago) they all of a sudden do not know how to play defense while incurring a 117-76 foul shot advantage? This makes no sense.
