Driving the 612 HP Mercedes-AMG E63s Wagon (T-Modell) was quite the wild experience. Hearing the legendary 4.0 liter bi-turbo V8 is as exciting as one would expect. Like in the G63, you feel like piloting a WW2 warplane.
Why I don't (necessarily) need winter tires on my 4matic AMG A35
Many of you have asked me about the necessity of putting proper winter tires on your (non daily-driven) AMGs, and I didn't have a proven answer either. So early January I made the trip to Switzerland to put my theory to the test and see how far I can go during 6 °C /42.8 °F weather on a new set of Pirelli PZero performance summer tires. Disclaimer: For a daily driver I'd always recommend the pr...

Join me in near POV driving down one of the few Swiss mountain passes open all-season. This drive was as immersive as it was eventful. Once my foot slid off the brake pedal after "jumping" the car and then a road crew was working right behind a corner without any warning signs posted uphill. Both situations didn't end badly or nearly as dangerous as it might've seemed to me, sitting in the driv...

Great video, is it comfortable to drive when we want it to be? Is it soft enough to be good for longer journeys ? Thank’s
Absolutely not. Not comfortable, to loud on the motorway (windnoise), overall cheap build quality.
@@babyamgno way for mercedes, they are too expensive to be built like that!
I agree. But keep in mind that the A class sits at the bottom and mine is lacking adaptive dampers.
@ yes,bug for an example.Newest S Class has very noisy plastic materials in interior. Most luxurios class has been made of cracky and loud cheap plastic…so no big deal.Mercedes is still better premium brand than Audi and Bmw quality.I was Audi fan entire life, but now i am saving money for A35 or CLA35 sedan im full option because i want to be Mercedes (AMG) guy for fist time in my life :D
That's my style - It's so much more fun when you ride A35. - From Korea
It’s a shame we can’t hear this sound from inside. These days the fake sounds make cars sound good just from inside. This is the opposite. My 35 is 2020 too. Will you mind sharing more about your microphone/audio recording setup? Love your videos!
I have an a35, theres no way this exhaust is standard😅
It is mate. Thing is, I record the sound directly at the rear bumper. The driver doesn’t hear all that. It helps to drive with the glass riff open, but it’s still not the same. I’m surprised the A35 does sound that good from the outside.
Original exhaust? sounds perfect!
Yes it is. Thanks!
how much is it to insure ? i want one so bad bruh i saw one at the dealer for a crazy good price
Depends where you live, right? There are websites that help you compare quotes.
Sounds great, is it stock?
Yes sir
Does any1 know if the new facelifted version of this car still make the same exhaust notes and sounds ?? This is bangin hopefully they haven't nerfed it...
They did actually. Significantly. Pops and bangs are noticeable reduced, but sound overall seems to be only slightly nerfed.
@@babyamg aaah yeah i thought they would have at least the exhaust pipes are real ! Thats the main reason i went from deciding to get the cheaper base a sedan to the amg one shame it wont sound as good as it used to but hey real exhaust > fake chrome tips
Perf Exhaust? Also, amazing driving!
I don’t think the CLS came with a dedicated perf. exhaust option. I believe the GT 53 is the only one. Nevertheless, it is still very loud, as you can tell in the video. More than enough.
@@babyamg The E53 has an option for perf. exhaust, sadly I didn't get it.
@siloedspace Only the coupe, no?
@@babyamg In the US the perf. exhaust is available on every style, but my sedan doesn't have it, it still sounds amazing though!
What year of production is this? Great car, nice video!
Thank you! That’s the 2020 model.
@@babyamg I have one coming my way, it seems like it is an identical spec to yours. 2020 too. Thanks for the info!
perfect video 👍🔥
Is this standart sound or have done some mods? Nice video btw 👍
Totally stock, but the exhaust only sounds like that from the outside or when the panoramic roof is open. I’ve recorded sound directly from the rear bumper. I’m glad you liked it!
What mods?
None 🙂↕️
Why bye a a35 , when you Got a a45🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️, love my a45 from 2014 and its sounds sooo Nice Stock , next Will be the a45 s
Significantly more expensive ✨
How much the car drinks on freeway at 110/130km/h?
Between 7.3 and 8.5 Liter.
@@babyamg it drinks just like my diesel car when DPF regenerates every other trip to work. At this point, where's the diesel economy? 😅
Süper🎉🎉🎉🎉
True. Something’s up with those.
@@babyamg needs to be adjusted
I had the same issue on the CLE I drove. Seems to be the way these new wipers are built, or because the car where new (sub 2.000 KM).
Nice
could you make or give us some fuel consumption stats? like at 130 on highway and city drive + urban at 80/90/ km/h
Sure, I've actually measured this. City driving up to a medium amount of traffic will use between 7.5 and 8.5 Liters/100KM. 130 KM/H on the highway will only require around 7.5 Liters. Extraurban driving between 70 and 100 KM/H will be very similar to those values. Driving in Sport mode instead of Comfort doesn't really up consumption and is the recommended mode to be in. Sport + is where the car really wakes up and consumption usually doubles. Hard, sporty driving through winding mountain roads with a passenger and some load in the back will consume around 15.5 Liters per 100 Kilometers.
@@babyamgthere are people saying that this engine has some problematic especially after 100k kilometers ( like the engine dies ). Do you know something about this fact ?...🤔🤔. Looking to buy an A35 with 40-60k kilometers.
@@pacurarvlad7488 No, I actually have not heard about that issue. I buy my cars under warranty directly from Mercedes, so in any case that's less of a worry for me. Mine came with 40k KM but felt new. If you can afford it, buy that car directly from an official dealer. Pro tip: if you find your dream spec somewhere else online, they can usually buy it for you and resell it. That way you can pick it up locally, build a relationship and have your place of warranty close by, even if it means paying a few thousands more.
What year is it ?
2020
Do the 2021 and 2022 sound the same ?
No, meaning the pre-facelift (which is the one I have) of the W177 Mercedes is louder. More pops & crackles would be the main differentiator. Both versions of the car aren’t particularly loud, but have a more subtle „growl“ to them. Somewhat similar to what you would find in a 718 Porsche.
I see because I’m looking for good sound and specifically pops and bangs. What do you advise ?
If you can, test drive both. Otherwise go for a pre-facelift model. It’s easy to tell them apart if you know what to look for. Light signature and steering wheel would be easy giveaways.
Cleannnnn
My dream car❤
Sure, just not as a daily driver. :)
finally someone who drives a performance car like it should be driven !! im currently looking to buy an edition 1 too. beautiful scenery to drive . i think with a stage 1 tune would be perfect for this
What a car soon with gods will ☝🏾☝🏾☝🏾
Is it better than bmw 3 series gran limousine?
Better in what regard? Faster? For sure.
@@babyamg is it good in features, pickup, launch, exhaust sound, etc
Someone should probably throw in a crossplane crankshaft into these engines. Otherwise I have my doubts the community will accept this. A 2.5l five cylinder would be an even better solution.
Interesting. Why a crossplane?
Hi, love your videos! :) I saw on a previous video that you had stock exhaust. Is this still stock? :)
Yeah it is :)
Is it stock? Stock exhaust and sound?
Yes & yes 🙌🏼
@@babyamg sounds so nice for a 4 cyl, gonna be getting one in October. Do u rate them?
I'd not buy it as a daily driver - 19" rims and the sporty suspension make it a very harsh drive + the double clutch just isn't tuned for everyday (short) driving and is way to jerky for that. As a second car to have fun, I'd rate it 8.5 / 10. Curve speed is incredible, as well as the violent race start, but the HP / KG performance immediately suffers noticeably when you have passengers in the car.
@@babyamg oh really? As I’m only 20 this would be my only car, so you’re saying it isn’t good in that aspect?
Absolutely. The A35 easily beats the competition from Audi and BMW in sporty, dynamic driving. But that makes it suffer the most from a "harsh ride". The AWD system works in your favour when cornering hard, but fails to handle simple every scenarios properly. Turn to mich when parking, and your front left/right wheel will start to "jump" because of the missing ratio difference on the front axis. You would't daily a GT3 RS, right? Same thing. You'd get a RWD Carrera. If you absolutely want to try and daily it, active suspension is a must, and I'd option the cheaper 18" rims with more "normal", "comfier" tires. You can find info on that online. For example, Pirelli PZeros are known to add to the harshness, but my A35 is specced purely for curve-performance, so comfort doesn't matter to me. I daily a diesel W205 C-Class, which blows the A out of the water in pretty much any category except infotainment. Do a proper test drive of at least 3 hours before going for it - but keep in mind to "reward" that dealer with a purchase later down the road.
How do we turn off traction control off on a 35
Next to the touchpad in the middle console, press the ESC (stability control) button once to put in into "Sport Handling Mode", this will loosens things up ever so slightly. When you press and hold the button after that, TC is turned off completely and you get a confirmation on the dashboard. Press again to turn it back on.
Bro how u dont get speed alert on 80 kmph
What do you mean mate?
@@babyamg i mean when you reach at 80 kms it beeps on my a35
@shlokarora5247 Where do you live? I don’t get that in Germany. I know however that the very latest models do that when going over the speed limit per legal regulation. Do you drive the facelift?
@@babyamg i drive same car a 35 amg 4 matic im from india brother
Its 2022 model
I do enjoy your commentary-free videos very much, but I have to admit that I would also like to see more such videos with commentary. The audio quality is excellent. Like for example why you'd want to drive a manual (pros + cons with this style of driving in this class of vehicle).
Thank you. I'll be doing a video on that within the next 4 weeks, where I'll dive deeper into the topic of "driving immersion" and why I'd prefer a manual.
I agree thank you for making a video on the subject. Also when will you make video on why you no longer think the A35 is worth it?
You're welcome. That video will be coming within the next two weeks. I'd filmed it already, but after driving a V8 (E63s) for the first time, that added some context for me. I can already tell you that the A35 is a real love/hate relationship to me.
What exhaust does this have? Sounds great
Fully stock 🦯
@@babyamg how does it sound the way it does then? I’ve heard stock ones before and they don’t sound nearly the same I feel
Not sure. I record sound directly at the rear bumber, but I can hear most of that as well when driving with the glass roof opened. It is however wild that they pump in fake sound when the exhaust sounds really good - especially for such a modern car.
Amazing video man!, Is the exhaust stock?
Yes it is. Thank you for the compliment.
OPF car? seems to be very quiet....
Yeah, definitely equipped with an OPF. It’s a 2020 model year car.
How do you like the a35? Im stuck between buying one, or the mk8 golf r. Ive had a go of both, watched loads of videos, and just can not decide.
I actually like it less as time goes on - but when comparing it to a Golf, the AMG wins. The AWD alone makes all the difference.
@babyamg the golf r is awd aswell. That's why it's such a hard choice! Thanks for the reply though dude 👍 I'll probably just end up spending the extra and getting the rs3 🤣 I tried the s3 as well, btw, such a boring car. Huge disappointment.

This exhaust sound is perfect. What brand of exhaust pipe is it?
Fully Stock 🦯
Lovely footage! More of these if you can! Could I ask what tyres are you running around this time of year?
Im very glad you like it. More videos of the same hillclimb will follow soon. I’m still editing these. I’ll also be doing a commentary on the tires. I’m running PZeros. More details in the upcoming video.
Hey what did you do to your exhaust, i want to make mine louder its stock
Hi mate, mine is fully stock. I'm recording sound with a lavalier mic directly in between both exhaust tips, fixed to the rear bumper. This enhances the sound experience for the video while not being fake and represents exactly what others hear when you drive by. I've got the opening glass roof optioned on my car and can hear about 50 % of the sound while driving.
@@babyamgthis is so cool! 😊plz do more vids with this mic setup! I also would love to see a comparison between the sounds inside and outside! Because I feel the sound from my a35 when inside the car is enhanced and little bit unnatural imo
