thanks seth for helping me - your insight was just what i needed <3
A Vivitar 283? Still got one of those in the box. Brilliant flashguns at the time.
When are you going invite Gavin Hoey to studio? :)
gavin doesn't leave the farm if he can help it lol
Can’t believe you don’t have a Justin clamp in your kit.
Not sure why I was surprised to see people walk by your window. Guess I thought you were upstairs.

Teaching is an Art, and Lindsay is simply The BEST!!
Great Video!!
Want to know if Seth is a righteous dude? He spent way too much time explaining a non-issue about Quinn to a troll. ;)
Yes on Amazon they sell them
You can get with wheels or not I think I saw them on B&H also. like your video's thank you
Hey Seth, Sorry I missed the live stream. Great conversation with the viewers. I know you get plenty of positive input on all your platforms. Like so many that participate in the platforms I appreciate the fact that you and all the other Adorama presenters take the time to pass on your insight experience and knowledge. I have been a photographer for 40 years and I can say you never stop learning. The negative vibes that creep in are disappointing. At the end of all your broadcasts say to yourself "I did some good today". knowing that the information you presented has helped someone in their craft or mindset. 👏👏👍
Demos with male models can be less distracting to many viewers. Keep shooting with Quinn and Sheila. :) I’ve learned an immeasurable amount from Adorama videos.
Coming to America 😂
Great format Seth. Thanks
No distractions with a live model. Wholly appreciate your effort and these demos. 🙏 ps. Quinn will never be late for a shoot! Ha
Just realized I suggested Vaseline on a mannequin eyes to get reflective catchlights. I meant to say something like a castor oil. Vaseline can actually take down shine in some cases
Can you do a fine art or painterly tutorial 🙏🏿 if you do that style
Thank you, Seth. Appreciate the love for So Cal.
Thanks Seth for all the effort and time you put into these helpful and informative streams, Ted.
I put wheels on my c stands for that reason
Love my z6 3
3 foot octa
My friend wants a portrait shoot but is self conscious about her nose, she thinks it big. Any lighting tips would be great
Thanks!
Looking forward to this. I use a dummy head with a long haired red wig called Ruby, also self portraits, both to practice my lightig. One problem is why can't I tether to my MacBook pro m1 and my Nikon z6 3? I use tether tools cable sub c to use c help would be amazing as I love to tether.Keep up the good workk🙂
Hi from uk
Hey Seth we met at last year's PPA in Louisville when my buddy and I sat beside you and Joe at dinner one night. Anyway, in my transition from sports to architecture, thank you Covid, I've spent the last year doing what this vid is all about. There were situations that my Nikon tilt & shift lenses on my D850 couldn't quite do what I wanted/needed. So I began pursuing a long time dream of getting, learning, and using a 4x5 format camera. Initially I rented a Cambo Actus MV along with the Cambo-Z mounting plate to use my Nikon Z6. After getting my feet wet, I decided to jump in. In an effort to save $$$ and as I wanted all the movements, I searched and found a used Cambo Ultima 4x5 with a Graflex back in excellent condition less than an hour from me. With the Cambo adaption kit I had myself an ACXL with all the movements for both front and rear standards as opposed to the Actus MV which didn't have rear swing. At first I considered getting the Fotodiox adaption plate however the instruction manual stated that infinity focus isn't obtainable because of the sensor to flange distance. For me that was the deal breaker for the Fotodiox. I didn't know Fuji offered the same adapter but more on that later. My next move was away from the Z6 to the Zf due to the minimal handgrip on the Zf. I felt like the only person in the world not complaining about the lack of depth in the handgrip but it was perfect for not interfering with the bellows. The flange to sensor distance in the Z cameras is world class short so I could even use a Schneider 47mm XL f5.6. My stint in LF heaven was short lived though. Shooting architecture with the Zf was fine, even with pixel shift, until I wanted to use flash. The deal breaker now was popping flash for 20 some odd frames multiplied times however many shift positions I used. That was well, a deal breaker. Plus the fact that I disliked that the Zf operated so differently from my Z9 and the old Z6. So off to the closet I went, and dug out my very lightly used D6 and traded it and the Zf for a used Fuji GFX 100s. And thus began my love/hate affair with Fuji. I absolutely love the files. Love that I can use flash and achieve mammoth files without the pixel shift. However the operability of the Fuji I absolutely hate!!! But with experience, and copious notes, it is getting better. And about the flash...of course all my Nikon oriented triggers, including sadly enough my Raven, were a no go. And then it hit me! This past week I successfully went old school and did PW MultiMax on the Fuji to Multimax via 3.5mm cable to my Buff Celestials, Einstein, and Link. Yippee. I was really really apprehensive about tethering into Capture One with the Fuji though. However I haven't had the slightest issue. My solution is a mix of two other people's solutions. APALMANAC website>Gear>Christopher Barrett Demonstrates Dremel Tool. Where he extols the use of a cage and USB cable strain reliefs. Also the video by Yankov Wong "The best cable for tethering. Period! FIBBR Cable review". Zero dropped signal cases and file transfers in about a second. Anyway still learning. Last year was a head banger!!! Hope this helps in some way. Thanks for all you do!!!
Always love Seth, but hey - Adorama, stop trying to break the New York Model's Union and get him a live person to stand in front of the camera. Turned this off as soon as I realized Seth was alone.
It’s not that serious… I prefer using Quinn to demo lighting as I am not even sure if we will get to shooting anything with this on the fly format I’m very comfortable with. A model is a variable that really isn’t needed for such casual live streams and this is absolutely my call. There’s no nefarious “union breaking” you’re alerting too and honestly if I were to bring in a model it’d probably be actual friends of mine not pro models who could use some images and even with that …it’s not the format I am going for here. That format is endlessly in play in almost every other stream you’ll find here. Turning this off for this reason you’re making assumptions about actual is killing support of the channels we built, the free content/education we work so hard to produce, and frankly myself. Having said that if this format isn’t for you no worries but just don’t make things up or assume whatever
Good stuff man 🫡
Thanks so much 🫀
Great Video!!!
When you look up “Professional” in the dictionary, this man’s face should be there. Legend.
Missed the live😢 but that fingerprint camera is cool I would leave it as is
Yea I agree I don’t wanna mess with it. I’ll keep it safe
Amazing thanks so much!
Mr. McNally and Seth, Joe, I love your work and craft in photography. You are a Wealth of knowledge. My favorite book you written “moment it Clicks” signed copy. Your passion and love for photography is why I became a photographer. I Thank you sir!
Ok. Its good to see Seth not being behind the scenes 🙏🏿💪🏿
Are those cable releases readily available in NYC? If not, I’ll try to scrounge up mine for you.
Thanks Seth. Have you ever watched Tin House Studio channel?
Great video showing some of the features. I've been a user of C1 for 25 years, since the LightPhase back came out. Renders always looked better than Lightroom. I noticed your seamless rolls on the ceiling and am wondering what background system that is and if you're happy with it.
Haha I am using the black t-shirt method too😅
It works 🤷♂️
I lad to leave about halfway through the livestream. I mentioned during the chat that I had a Zone VI 4x5 field camera in a closet somewhere. I dug it out tonight. I bought it new from them back in 1993! It’s still in good shape along with a Schneider APO-Symmar MC 210mm f5.6 lens with a Copal 1 shutter. I used to shoot with Kodak ReadyLoad film packs using a Polaroid 545 film holder. There was also a Luna Pro SBC light meter in the case with it. Now that was a trip down memory lane!
If I was a startup, I might consider capture one since it standard. Thanks for the class.
Will the edgemask work with different brands of soft boxes or just profoto?
Yea like I said in the beginning you can even make something similar to try it out before you get some actual edge mask
Thanks ❤
Superb. Very educational. Thank you!
algorithmic engagement comment. Thanks for this, Jeff. It makes me actually want to get this instead of using Lightroom.
I may be a little biased, but when I switched over to capture one, I never looked back. You can always download the free 30 day trial and see if it suites you.
Seth, Not sure if this helps. You were having a issue with the HDMI output not allowing you to view from the back of the camera. I had the same issue with my R1. According to the manual, you can only get a view on the back of your camera with an HDMI cable if you're shooting in video. Maybe that was the issue with your situation. Take care. Happy New Year Ian
