hi guys!!
finally back at it with the college vlogs... from last semester 🫣 this semester has been so packed i haven’t found the time/motivation to edit pls but i have so much content i’m behind on ahhhh. i will slowly but surely catch up ✊🏻 anyways in this video i get back into classes and work after my spring break europe trip… and i think all the tiredness built up inside me during the trip and hit right when i got back 😵💫 i was surprised myself during the trip that i wasn’t as tired but lol it definitely was just held back from the adrenaline or smth. i didn’t want to do anything and just wanted to lay around in my dorm but i was forced to do work because classes started right back up...

welcome back and happy new year!! can't believe it's already 2024... last year actually flew by 🫣 i hope this year goes by slower plsss. anyways in this vlog all i do is eat, go to studio, and appreciate the fall vibes LOL it was a stressful but fun time (eating good food 🤩) tho all that was motivating me was thanksgiving break… i think it was the most i ever looked forward to going back home 🫠...

Hey, Grace! I am Viktoria and I really want to study in WashU. I wasn't sure what I wanted to study, but I knew I wanted it to be math-oriented. At some point I became very interested in Architecture, but not the ART type of architecture like very beautiful greenery or weirdly shaped modern buildings, instead the housing structure type of architecture. I very much love it. The only problem to me was the annual salary, because for my standards it is low, and listen, money is not my top priority, but as someone who left their whole life to come to America to study, and risked everything they had, I am very much looking for a high payed field. This is why I redirected to Computer Science and gave up on architecture. When I saw the part of the video when you were showing that you're studying for CS class, this gave me some hope that you can somehow mix the architecture and cs fields in your study in WashU. I wanted to ask if your major is architecture and why are you taking a cs class. Also, I know that for WashU architecture major you'll need to submit a portfolio of your work, but the thing is that I have absolutely no experience in architecture, besides one class I took second semester of my junior year in hs. Do you know how would that work? Also, do you have any information about this whole thing that could help me? It is very much needed and I will appreciate anything!!❤❤❤
hi viktoria! i actually relate to a lot of what you said- i always had an interest in architecture but didn’t get to take classes on it, and learning that it’s not a high salary job despite all the work needed made me become hesitant to commit to it. but for me, i felt like i would regret not even trying it out if i chose to not do architecture. i actually applied to washu as a psychology major (which was my second interest) instead of architecture because i also didn’t have a portfolio to submit. i primarily wanted to go to washu because of the open curriculum and easy switching between schools, so i took architecture courses my first semester and switched my major! so this is definitely an option if you’re not sure what you want to study. now about CS, i took that class out of interest apart from architecture so i’m not completely sure how to incorporate them together, but i know a few people in architecture who are double majors and minors in CS. i feel like anything has at least some connection to architecture, and not everyone majoring in architecture continues in the field (and a lot of ppl change majors after the first semester haha) so you don’t have to commit to just one area of study! sorry this got long ahhh but overall i suggest just trying out what interests you! i hope this helps 🫶🏻
Did you submit any portfolio when you were applying to WashU? What was your portfolio that got you into Washu like?
i actually didn’t apply to the architecture program because i wasn’t able to create a portfolio, i applied as a psychology major which was my second interest (which is now my minor)! i researched that it was easy to switch between schools at washu, so during my first year i took the required architecture courses and switched majors right away :)

i’m not sure if it’s exactly an open curriculum but everyone is able to take classes from any school!

it IS hard and overwhelming to use at first 😵💫 i don’t have a notion template but i could try to make one! there are also a lot of other youtubers that have shared theirs, i remember i used twirling pages’ notion template to start!

I just got accepted to Washu as an ED2 with an architecture major! How are architecture classes in Washu? Would it be better if I learn 3D modeling by myself before entering?
ahh congrats!! 🥳 every semester we have a studio class that changes depending on the professors so i can’t say for sure how it will be like for you, but it’s usually work time with desk critiques, small pin ups, or reviews! knowing the basics of Rhino3D before will definitely be helpful if you have the time because it’s a huge and pretty confusing program but i went in with no knowledge and it was ok too :)

i’ve never heard of that… i visited washu after i got admitted for a tour day and didn’t get any support from them LOL but maybe look into it on their website if there is something like that!
