The Final Stop - Los Angeles
Просмотров 867 лет назад
Taking off from Nadi airport, in Fiji I headed across the Pacific Ocean to LAX in America. From the airport I headed to my hostel at Santa Monica and visited the pier and beach, watching my second sunset that day, because the flight had crossed the international date line. Next day me and mate from hostel drove to Hollywood and visited the sight. Next day it was my final day on my travels and f...
Visiting Paradise - Fiji
Просмотров 2267 лет назад
On my way home from New Zealand I had two stops, one in Nadi, Fiji for 4 days and Los Angeles for 3 days. I had a 3am flight from Auckland International Airport to Nadi International Airport, with Fiji Airways. It was a good flight apart for one thing. Landing in Fiji I headed off to my accommodation at Bamboo travellers, on Nadi Beach. I spent the next couple of day staying there, before my fl...
Sump 1 - Swildon's Hole
Просмотров 9767 лет назад
On the Mendips Hills is a small steam that drops down through the limestone, creating Swildon's Hole cave system. About 1 to 2 hours into the cave you come across Sump 1. Only about meter long, it's not the longest sump in the World, but for UK cavers, it probably the first one there attempt. It not everyones favourite part, but if it you first attempt it can be quite scary, but luck for Kay's ...
Mt Doom Trek - Tongariro Alpine Crossing (Tongariro National Park)
Просмотров 6 тыс.8 лет назад
The Tongariro Alpine Crossing is one of those must walks of New Zealand. However being New Zealand most winter visitors miss the chance of doing it, because of weather conditions on the mountains. We nearly were one of those visitors who never got a chance to do the crossing. But on my last full day and one of my friend Lucy's last days, the rain cleared and the crossing was open. So on the mor...
The hike for the 360 degree view - Ben Lomond
Просмотров 2,1 тыс.8 лет назад
Ben Lomond in Queenstown, New Zealand is a over 1700 meters above sea level and offers fantastic 360 degree views of the valleys, lakes and snow capped mountains. The walk was fantastic day out from Queenstown. Starting from the skyline gondolas, either at the top or from the bottom, follow the route up through the conifer forest. The path from the bottom is very step and takes about hour to ge...
Summiting Mt Luxmore - Kepler Track
Просмотров 1,9 тыс.8 лет назад
Fiordland National Park is an incredible landscape and is home to three of New Zealand's Great Walks. One of which is the Kelper Track. So while visiting Fiordland it was to tempting not to walk one of them. Being the end of winter when we visited Fiordland, most of the tracks where closed, even the Kelper past Mt Luxmore hut was closed and not advised to continue, unless you had alpine gear. S...
Milford Sound the 8th Natural Wonder of the World
Просмотров 1038 лет назад
Milford sound is an incredible place to visit! Far from anyway and hidden away in Fiordland of New Zealand. The beauty is hard to describe and any photos or videos don't in anyway give it justice. With 2000 meter peaks towering out of the sea and huge waterfalls pouring off them straight into the sea. To add, snow capped peaks with valleys full of thick rainforest and all untouched by humans ne...
Glacier Explorer - Franz Josef
Просмотров 748 лет назад
What an incredible place to visit and the wait was well worth it! Waiting fours days in Franz Josef to fly up onto the glacier was amazing. Starting the week with thick cloud cover, each day was disappointing. Until Friday when the clouds cleared and the sun came out, making an incredible experience, that I will never forget! Franz Josef, like Fox Glacier are both extremely interesting glaciers...
Murray's Kiwi Bus down the West Coast

Starting in Wellington follow the journey to Franz Josef, down the West Coast of South Island of New Zealand. Jumping of Murray's Bus was a cool adventure, from crossing the Cook Straight to Picton, then to Abel Tasman and down to Nelson lakes. Moving onto Cape Foulwind and finally the very interesting Franz Josef Glacier. A fun filled couple of days!
Alone and Bored in River Valley
Просмотров 388 лет назад
In fact I was not bored or alone, but was enjoying the peaceful countryside of New Zealand North Island. River Valley Lodge lies on the Rangitikei River, in the central North Island. It hidden away in the valley and set up for horse riding and white water rafting, however every other day (or everyday in summer) the Kiwi Experience bus rocks up for a roast dinner and party. I stayed behind to en...

Very different to the Buchan caves nearby as the Buchan caves were not assessable to first nation people or wildlife so no damage or just environmental wear the Buchan caves had no physical access point. Wilson cave does have lots of columns but in the wide low cave 50 meters further south interesting is that all that section of columns have a break due to the entire hillside shifting several inches. One day either tomorrow or a thousand years from now that section will collapse. Some conservation was attempted many years ago as there are a couple of steel supports as you go into the first cave. There are many many caves in the area some paid access, some permit, some on private land a form of conservation is occurring on pretty much all those. I'm glad it is free to the public but it is a bit isolated and there was no sign at this location anymore so that reduces foot traffic which is good.

Thinking of doing a similar trip this coming summer, but I was thinking of starting from the CBD and cycle around the Philips Bay, through Frankston, Mornington and Sorrento, then take the ferry across to Queenscliff, then only start the Great Ocean Road and ending at Warrnambool and take the train back to the city. That would be about 400km ride according to Google Maps, havent decided on settling in a 4 or 5 days ride. Any suggestions? wanna join me on the ride? haha

It's a great little walk. Lots of other people around. Interesting scenery and variety. All on tracks. Climb out is steep and you will probably need rest breaks if you are not fit.

awesome video mate. just a question, how do you get back to Katoomba from Jenolan caves?

    • @crawlpedalsplash9687
      @crawlpedalsplash9687 8 лет назад

+The Goodwolf thank you! you can buy a bus ticket with blue mountain buses, but it's an expensive $45. It leaves Jenolan around 3pm each day, if I remember correctly. Their website is www.trolleytours.com.au/. Or you can buy the ticket in Katoomba before you leave to do the walk. Any other questions or info, just let me know.
