Tandemonium was founded in 1992 by Claudia Immerzeel and Jean Duranti. As a duet, performed dances from Iran, the Persian Gulf and Uzbekistan, along with fusion and interpretive dances with contemporary music.

Claudia Immerzeel started with Polski Iskrie Polish Dance Ensemble in 1986. In 1987, she joined AVAZ, the international dance repertory company, and studied Persian/Central Asian dances with Ixchel Dimetral-Maerker, Carolyn Krueger and visiting members of the Georgian State Dance Ensemble. Claudia and Jean studied with Honored Artists of Uzbekistan Qizlarkhon Dustemukhemedova, and Viloyat Akilova. Other teachers were Robin Friend, Travis Jarrell of Santa Fe, and Laurel Victoria Gray of the Silk Road Dance Company, Bert Balladine, Mesmera, Horacio Cifuentes and Mahmoud Reda. Tandemonium performed yearly at the Amara's Middle Eastern Dance Theater.

As of 2022, both are still dancing and performing after 30 years, the Central Asian dances for audiences around California.
