I bought a Canon A410, is it a good buy?
I think the whole line of A-series is great! Good buy! 📸
Cool thing 👍 today I will try it with my Powershot G9
Let me know how it worked!
Bonjour. Il y a un triangle et un cercle , sur l’objectif, où la distance en mètres est marquée.Comment utiliser ces marquages ?. Merci
can I do it with a460?
I believe they have equivalent settings, yes. Let me know!
When I went into my drawer it was in there i thought it didn't work becaue my brother said it didn't work but it does its so much fun
I'm glad my video helped you resurrect this camera, and I hope you take some great photos!
Ty I tried this and the outcome was great
Excellent! I love to hear when my videos help people. Hope you take more great shots!
Thanks for your informative content! I have the same camera and was wondering if the shutter works even if a film roll is not inside. I thought it was shutter's problem
I'm glad the video helped you! I bet there are a lot of these cameras out there and people think they don't work because they don't know they have to put film in it. Anyway I hope you take some great photos now!
Great video and great shots. I have a collection of DigiCams myself. Some vintage DSLR too. Love the fact that you don't edit a toothpick into the Titanic .. lol Keep up the good work, you got an awesome channel going here.
Great video! But I have some questions about using this fantastic camera. I just bought it recently and I’m wondering if it’s a good way to use it for night shot, and is there anything I need to pay attention to? It’s my first time trying to use it for the night so maybe you can give me some advice, thank you so much!!❤
Use Bulb for exposure and definitely a tripod, you can use an app to calculate how long the exposure should be, but it's gonna be REALLY long, probably more than 3 seconds. Use a lower aperture value for lower shutter speed
For night shots, it always helps to use a tripod. Whether it's digital or film, capturing nice images in low light means a slow shutter speed. That could result in blurry images unless the camera is rock solid. So use a tripod for night shots 📸
Any. Settings for ge a1050
I had one of these 50 years ago and the shutter broke. I always loved it and yesterday I bought another from a junk shop for £45. Your video was very usefull in reminding me how to use it after all these years. Mine has more shutter speeds , up to 1/300 sec and the focus distance is in metres not feet. All I have to do is try it out and let's hope that it works correctly.
Hope it work! Let us know 👍
It seems to work fine, except for shutter longer than 1/10 sec. which really doesn't matter. I have bought a film and a case and hope to put the camera to the test soon.
Thanks for the share man and take care of yourself.
There were a number of variations among the Vito line from Voigtlander. These were the less expensive models sold to budget minded casual consumer users. However, Voigtlander never did anything cheap, and they are very well-built and designed. Note that this Vito B has no rangefinder, like most versions. The Color-Skopar was a 4-lement design like the Zeiss Tessar. Voigtlander lenses were generally the best quality, equal or superior to Zeiss. With a 50mm focal length, focusing the lens in the "zone focus" or "guess and set" manner is more challenging, and an understanding of how to use the depth of field scales on the lens is critical to success. Later versions added a light meter or rangefinder, perhaps both. These more complex versions tend to claim a higher price as "collectible", but are well worth the hunt.
Agreed! I really like this line of cameras, and may get another (perhaps with rangefinder).
Thanks for the share and take care of yourself m
Very clear photos with this vintage camera, different from what I saw from others with this vintage camera series
Thank you! It's a great little camera with nice optics.
I had a couple cameras close to a couple of yours. The Sony DSC-P71 someone gave me. Great little camera and that weird form factor was so different from the rectangle camras everyone else made. Also had a Canon SD850. Really liked that one but gave it away and instantly regretted it. Fabulous video great work.
Thanks very much for watching! The early Sony P cameras were very cool; very nice form factor.
Interesting that this camera really needs film to test it
It's weird, isn't it? I wonder if there were many cameras like this. Knowing this, now I'm paranoid and carry a spare roll of film whenever I got to vintage camera stores!
@@vmcamposCameraClub Quite a number of German rangefinder and zone focus 35mm cameras from the 1950s and early 60s were made like this. The design allows a simple film advance mechanism and a separate, simple set of gearing to cock the shutter, using advancement of the film to transfer motion to cock the shutter. This eliminates a more complex set of gears to transfer the motion of film advance to cock the shutter, being cheaper to make and more durable. If you have to dry-fire the shutter, spot the toothed gear in the film path which cocks the shutter and give it a spin.
Just tried this with a bridge camera + I changed the resolution to take 8 MP photos and they came out so beautiful and similar to real life colors with a soft warmth !! Thank you for this video !
You're welcome! I love to hear about people enjoying their cameras. 😊
how can i do this with a2300?
I'm not sure. I don't have access to that model. Try searching RUclips for settings 👍
I have a couple of classic digital. Love tech history. Also I was hoping you'd pull that bit of skin off your finger. 😅
Sorry about that! I forgot to get a manicure before this video 😁😁
Hi, I just want to take clear ebay pictures, and I cant get it to focus and take a clear picture no matter how hard I try. It was working. Don't know what I did?!! Thanks, Brenda
Unfortunately if you can not get focus at all that means the camera is broken. I have another Canon camera that has the same issue I cannot get it to focus at close or far distances. These older cameras weren't really made to be fixed, so you should be on the lookout for a replacement on eBay 👍
Isn't the setting only valid for your model of powershot?
Actually these settings are valid for many in the power shot series. Canon did a good job of having these features in a variety of their cameras. 📸
SoCal I miss it. Beautiful camera. I use a Vito II and love it Maybe this is the new camera for me to try.
I definitely reach for this little camera more and more when I want to do film. It's so compact and easy to use. SoCal misses you! 🌴
hey, whats your take on canon sx160 is ? is it better than my android phone ?
Technically any modern phone is better than any of these vintage cameras. However you're not going to get the same sort of vibe or aesthetic from a modern camera. The modern cameras just really push their color science in a modern direction. A vintage camera was all about a vintage color science. You should get one of the ones in my guide and see for yourself 📸
Nice video,is samsung st65 a normal camera?
Seems like it. It's from 2011 with 14Mpix so it should be good.
Very good vid. Thank you a lot!!! I really like dx-10, p51 and f717. You recon f707 takes same pics as f717? I want to get one for night vision shots
The 707 is one of the older ones in this line, so you'll get some nice results. But the 717 and the 828 being later models are just technically better. The 828 is the most expensive one, but the 717 is a good equivalent.
please post more videos!
I have so many ideas for more videos for sure! I just need to find the time 🥲
i love how there’s so much more in depth settings to these little cameras
thanks for the tips - applying this look to my sd1000
You're welcome! How did it go?
Can I contact you via Instagram?
Nice video 🔥
So should the EV be -1/3 or +1/3? This short and your video about Kodachrome64 settings contradict themselves.
It depends on what kind of look you want. Overexposure is a certain look, and underexposure is another look. Both are good looks, but it just depends on what you want. The great thing is you can shoot a shot in each of those two modes and see which one you like best. Unlike film you have unlimited shots!
This is awesome info! I purchased a PowerShot SD800 IS recently & am looking forward to adjusting it for the vintage feel. Your settings are perfect and should translate well to my new (to me) camera.
How have you liked it so far??
This really helped - got this camera at a garage store and was playing around w the settings, thank you!
Excellent! How are you liking the camera so far?
Very entertaining and informative video, keep up the good work!
You really can't go wrong with these "modern" film compact cameras. I can't speak for this Canon here but I own a Nikon LiteTouch Zoom 100W and a Pentax Optio 120SW. Very similar specs, small, packed with a lot of features and dead-easy to use. I assume this Canon isn't any different in use or capabilities. Lovely cameras!
Totally agree. By the end of their lifespan, these compacts were top notch. And they're kind of under the radar, because the influencers are going crazy over other brands and models, and driving up the price. I'll take one of these under the radar point and shoots any day!
What settings do you use?
Thank youuu💕
Just picked back up my ixus 850 is after 10+ years of retirement!! I've been shooting many kinds of cameras over the years, lately mainly film point & shoot. But somehow felt nostalgic about this camera! I'm gonna take it for a spin!
Very nice! Are you still using it?
The price just doubled! 😮😁👍
Oops! 🤑
Nice suggestions, for vintage feel stills my top ten 10 - Nikon Coolpix700 9 - Canon Powershot G5 8 - Pentax Optio i-10 7 - Leica D-LUX 3 / Lumix LX2 6 - Fujifilm F601Zoom 5 - Pentax Optio E30 4 - Pentax K-R 3 - Fujifilm X-E1 2 - Ricoh GXR (all modules) 1 - Casio QV-3500EX Yes to me the Casio is THE "filmish" digicam and i got A LOT. I can't stop driving this gem, it is so good...I think it's a Canon powershot G1 in disguise, same lens, same 3.3MP sensor, but the firmware offers more customisation, while G1 offers a hotshoe. You guys have to consider this one, and very cool side effect: no one suspects this model to be such a sleeper so price are not skyrocketing like Canon's iterations. A sort of Canon G1.5
Great top 10, for sure! I love the whole range of digicams; and I love how some are still under the radar!
Great info, I'll certainly try this colour recipe on my canon powershot a650is, I have noticed thise settings but have not used them before. Do the settings remain when you turn off the camera? I've added your channel, it's good to connect with other retro photographers.
Thanks for watching! Yes, the settings should remain, as long as you don't replace the batteries. If they do disappear, just watch my video again. 😁😁
I loved this video! Your narration is fun and engaging. I definitely saw some unique picks in this video too which is nice for variety. I would love to see in depth videos about each camera. Especially, because I’d like to know more about the specs and features each camera offers and how the perform in real life. You’ve gained a sub! Thanks!
Thank you very much! Yes, I want to do a deep dive on each. I just need to find the time 😅
It's funny, but my strategy for setting the color profile of this camera is the opposite =) I reduce the contrast as much as possible and make the exposure compensation negative. This allows you to reduce glare and overexposure, as well as preserve more shadows and information in dark areas. Since this camera doesn't have a raw format, this setup allows me to retain as much information as possible if I want to edit the image after shooting.
Thanks for sharing! That's what I love about photography: everyone can do it the way they like. One thing I'd caution about underexposer, however, is that you're prone to accentuating noise when you bring up the shadows. These older cameras did not do well in low light; you'll find a lot of weird chroma noise in the shadows. But if you're going for that vibe, that's good! If you have a RAW image, yes, you'll preserve more shadow info; but from a regular JPG, not so much. Anyway, thanks for watching and comment!
Hi! What settings do you use to get a film-like look? A lot of my pictures are ending up blurry. Thank you!
Blur comes from not enough light. Here's a tip for a nice film-like look: set the camera to Slow Synch Flash, and then the White Balance to Cloudy. Those should create some results. Good luck!
How many photos can I take with the memory stick? And I can use the memory stick pro?
You cannot use Memory Stick Pro; it's too new. I don't remember how many pictures fit on the stick I showed, but it' enough: you don't want to save 100s of shots. Even 36 shots is "enough." After all, if you lose the memory card, you lost all your photos. It's best to take 2 dozen or so and then save them to your computer, so you don't lose them. Hope this helps!
@@vmcamposCameraClub and what is the maximum card size that fits there?
Gotta any more recipes you have dialed in? Would love to see more that you come up with
I've got more in mind, but I've been using my new Canon EOS 5D Mark II a lot, so I haven't used my digicams for a bit 😅
What's the best digicam for video?
Good question. It's not in my list, but I like the Samsung NV 24HD. It can do 720p video, and has a very nice wide angle view. So, that's juuust HD quality, and the colors look good. The Canon A590 is also very nice, but only goes up to 640x480 video, which is not HD, but very vintage-looking. Hope this helps!
The charger for this camera is complicated. I don't know where to plug it in.
It must be a very specific cable, and plugs in at the bottom. Be sure it's the one I have linked. A long as it's the right cable, it should plug in at the bottom. Then you need to use a wall plug USB block to power it: www.ebay.com/itm/274105125904?itmmeta=01HT8GFA6S58V8ZGG42VZXZ101&hash=item3fd1f04c10:g:9LIAAOSwPa9d1NnA&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA4D3lgv1lKyBdy86K2qxXaWBtYaveP%2BaUlUuhushX5o3YQ09bkuPDl%2FRvCLC7QkP09wfKYhz8oFnsYLi19YB%2Fqg3fM7zRAaJZtrQwNFRsJs7KLnJcuBNy8WON%2FT8NfHlVkl877J%2ByCF1HTNLl0F5TZ9QODJFd23JRvNYrkIKlDO7CnixAERARkEuriX8OAsj7jy6z%2Fj%2FKKJirkYB1gIyJWXnhY2r1vuSTSK5iB3EAonWXHSJxePEOuNf9pcZSxD2Fj4l48IYezNyT0rj0TMHCruH4PkhDzUbPlGSRQZ3JSpTo%7Ctkp%3ABFBMwKO9kNJj // www.ebay.com/itm/276373987267?itmmeta=01HT8GJRYRT6AS2C31789XT0E6&hash=item40592c5fc3:g:MP0AAOSwVa9l7QRb&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA0F7IjD%2BWPyGo%2B4bGReQXX7qbVGJ5IOf%2FuQYSql4pjkgEaC3LWLNgFYmDvJbLS9IaKUbBlEBc9fIIuu73U%2BmanyGVUug6xYutU241hoz5txf1ZTm%2FPaRD2CxmQOvVmq1oFAzV35I3V0PViFRDss41sVKN6mvrgXebfnk2CpvBhGHXWn0v3kGXvbm9hKdWzCR%2FxPnmmpDtTqdOIjNNp88HqRZlQlk2jyW42KuL%2FRWOKZK9JistVTSlMxo2iRTqogwqZhQQm2B9bL6xkwzMx0hzco0%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR8aPy5DSYw

How to set the green grid
The green grid appears when the camera is focused. Lightly press the shutter button to lock focus, it should turn green and maybe make a beep sound; then take the photo. Hope that helps!
