Still snowing. It had been almost an hour. It was dark now too. The street lamps had come on. Through the snow and wind, I could make out the fuzzy, warm glow of the street lamps that kept watch over the quite street outside; like watchmen at their post. I contemplated whether or not to brave the snow and wind. Perhaps, I could make it to the next street over. Philip's shop would be open for another hour. I could wait out the storm there before heading home. "Sara. The library still closes at 8 o' clock on Fridays, right?" "Still 8. Why do you ask?" "It's almost 8 and I was going to head home, but the snow is looking grim out there." Sara's eyes turned to the window as she gently folded the leaves of her book and set it down. She rose from the big red chair she had been sitting in and glided toward the window. She peered out. "Oh my. One would have thought it would have calmed down after an hour. You can stay till it quiets down dear." "Thank you" "Don't mention it dear. Would you care for some hot coco? I thought I would make some for myself and Lara before we started putting away books" "I would love some. I think Lara may have already started on the books." Sara and I made the rounds to all the doors making sure they were locked for the night as well as turning off any lights. Once done, Sara grabbed a lantern and, igniting it, made her way up to the second floor with me following close behind. We stopped on each floor to turn off any lights. It was when we were making the rounds on the third floor that I ran into Lara. "Hey Lara. Got started putting books away I see." Lara didn't say anything. She looked up from the book she was examining to look at me. She was silent. Her eyes were still like a cloudless winter night. Quickly, she tore her gaze off me and took another book from the trolly. "Lara," Sara cried from across the room, "we'll bring you some hot coco. Would you like two marshmallows or three?" Lara didn't answer. I made my way back to Sara who was standing at the foot of the stairs. "Did she speak to you?" "No" Sara and I continued our trek up each flight of stairs, stopping on each floor to turn off any lights. We eventually made it to the fifth floor. Sara approached a door at the front left corner of the room and unlocked it. "Come in dear," she said as the door swung open and she stepped inside.
