Vashti Bunyan Young Interview
Rare Vashti Bunyan interview, titled "Where have all the flowers gone?" featured in 1970 BBC One documentary tv show "Everyman". Vashti and at the time partner Robert Lewis are travelling in their horse cart.
I really hope this doesn't get copystriked.

There you go mate! drive.google.com/file/d/1qrzgOpZzR94bZdPaiTqEy6jebeftJK0k/view?usp=drivesdk
Those dandelion wheels she writes about in Wayward
They ship their antiques to Who-ston, which is apparently in Texas.
Her music is beautiful
she is goddess
🤎
Well spoken. Oxford University.
Got a bit weepy when Bess turned up.
Have you read Wayward? You get affectionate to that horse while reading it
@@TheHarryPotters I have indeed.
4:24 - "I've got to teach them to live in the world as it is, not how I think it should be." She has a lot of wisdom that so many parents could use.
Beautiful. Thank you for this!
Thank you for watching man!
oh my god an angel
Guys, Vashti's new book about her traveling experience is out today! You can buy it here (it's not an associate link. Just a genuine fan supporting Vashti): store.whiterabbitbooks.co.uk/products/wayward?_pos=1&_psq=Way&_ss=e&_v=1.0 Edit: do yourself a favor and get this book, it's fantastic
I definitely get a kick out of “Hoostin, Texas”
Vashti was/is one stunningly pretty young lady, on top of everything else of course.
Hoostin

@@TheHarryPotters the best day before the end of 2021! hahaha thanks!
… great insight! And … #volvogate
What's volvogate?
I love how completely honest she is here. She doesn't know exactly why she's made the choices that she has, and she isn't going to reduce it to a simple story that will satisfy other people, or herself. That's a rare thing.
Yes, that was my impression, too. She's being very honest and 'unguarded' ... truthful.
the fact that they had business linked with Houston TX, my hometown in the states, makes this even more unbelievable
I love her, her voice and song(s)... thank you for uploading this!
Thank you for watching! 😇
Love british folk!
I LOVE HER. she is so soft and warm. 🤍
Her music has enchanted me. So beautiful! My favorite songs from her are Rose Hip November, Winter is Blue, and I'd Like to Walk Around In Your Mind. Linda Perhacs is also a favorite of mine. She has a similar style but with more experimental instrumentals
She learned a lesson about champagne socialists.
And you learned a lesson about being a fucking twat
🌈🎶Hola Vashti!
You're invited to my home in east chico california
Thanks, Andrew 😂👍
what an enchanting and talented musician. her music reminds me a lot of nick drake. thanks so much for uploading 💖
"i felt I needed to teach them to live in the world that is - and not how I want it to be." that is probably the most important insight for parents who have any ideals at all.
That's a recipe for conservativeship if taken to an extreme, tho. Status quo sometimes needs changing: to teach your kids that things can be different, maybe more similar to what you'd desire, is not wrong. I think that Vashti's adventure ended due to necessities and possibilities: they were on their own in their "revolutionary" adventure - which as they stated wasn't started as a performance but as an heartfelt desire. Thing's tough, as she explained in her movie, and with children on their way, you need to figure out what's best for them as a whole. If they had the possibility to assure them the best while preserving their more unconventional lifestyle, I'd bet they would've done it
@@TheHarryPotters Appreciate the reply, one objection tho: Teaching the kids how to deal with the world as is doesn't prevent you from teaching them how to change things for the better. But you won't do shit if you believe you already live in a perfect world.
@@JosephSchneider26 Absolutely, I agree! The main thing at the end of the day is to teach them to scrutinize the world, to allow them to see it as it really is and then, if they're willing to try, change it
1:00 i'm sorry he listed 3 things he wants to breed and the list goes thus: horses, dogs, people. What in the actual sixties?
i feel like that was just thinly veiled innuendo, judging by his little smirk at the end lol
,Rêves de Rêves de l" inachevet 💋🐬
Maybe we are just growing up...not many make it my dear sister
That ending is probably the most aesthetically pleasing thing I've ever seen.
Holy shit, she is so inspiring. I can't imagine how stressful it was to not have the Hebridean people be kind to her and then have the record fall through and feel more isolated than ever. Such a poignant reminder of how our ideals can clash with outside world.
"Hoosten" Texas
wasn't it a beautiful dream to have? wonder what happened to the horse?
I'm so happy to see a recent post of her with already 17k views and so many recent comments!! Thank you for the upload!
Same! For her niche, this blow up! I was expecting it at all
@@TheHarryPotters really this made my day and congrats btw! Also I like your username ✨✨
Just another diamond day will always match my spiritual to earthly heart. Words spoken of such simple things. But these simple things and silent moments bring us just.... A little... Peace.. For a while. As more houses are built and less birds and wildlife and woods are here on this island. Take the option now to walk through the real English countryside. Before they concrete it all over. And enjoy. The last of England.
It's like watching Walkabout, but in Britain.
???
whats the first song in the beginning
Rainbow River, from Vashti of course
Anyone hear Breed horses, Dogs and humans? Hippies 😅
Hooston Texas
That's how a character in the great "Local Hero" (1983) pronounced it, too.
hey, thank you so much for uploading this. I've been listening to vashti since i was a teenager and never knew about the existence of this documentary! hugs from brazil!
Hey there! Thank you so much for commenting! I must say, it's impressive how big the Vashti's fans community is!
Wow thanks so much for uploading this. I assumed there wouldn't be any footage of her back during this time and that there where just a few images so it's very cool to see this considering how fascinating she is.
All you said basically constitute the reason why I was so deadset on finding this footage and uploading it here. It wasn't easy to find, but here we are :)
Philosophies of a smart woman 👍🏼
