We had quite the showing of the northern lights last night! There's been a heightened level of solar activity of late, but this was one of the most energetic displays I've seen in quite some time. As far as overall intensity goes, it was somewhat mediocre, but the speed of the pulsating/dancing motion was off the charts!

Hands down one of the best northern light shows I've seen in years! I drove about 15 km out of town, set up my camera and let it do its thing. Only problem was: the aurora were all over the place - even to the south!

John seems to be struggling with hitting some of the notes. I shouldn't jive him though; he is a grampa now. Yes.. that means he is old for a rocker. The guys don't move as much on the stage either. That just kind of of stand there. For a bunch of old dudes, they still can rock.

@mikevaughn2041 - Agreed! As they say, old rockers never stop rockin', but the high notes are the first to go.
Yeah, he is 74. I'm surprised he can still hit the notes he can.

I was at the 50th anniversary concert in November 2023 Cochrane, Alberta I sat near exit a good friend brought me. We use to listen to them all the time as a teenager But at that time it was Greg X Volz as lead. Awesome band. For me both Lead singers were great. You can't really pick which one was best. They both were unique.
Petra was almost a different band with John. Sort of like a tale of two bands type of deal.
I'll pick which one was best. John Schlitt by far because of the music style (rock) and uniqueness of his voice.
When John forgot the words, and the crowd took over and finished singing More Power To Ya that was a powerful moment.

Paul Brandt is a Country music artist who writes his own songs. He is from Calgary, Alberta. I remember growing up with his uncle at Montgomery Jr. High. His father grew up with his father and he was a male nurse prior to becoming famous as Country Music Artist . I love listening to his music and went to the benefit concert he had for the children at the Alberta Children’s Hospital . Awesome person and is very down to earth..

Pretty -- how high up did you have to crank the ISO ?
I had it at 800 for these shots, 20 sec. exposures at F/3.5. Probably a little over-exposed - I had to reduce the exposure a 3/4 stop in Lightroom.
