Here are my honest thoughts on the 12th Gen 2023 Honda Civic Si after using one for 3 months on road and track, and having a lot of experience with the Golf GTI on road and track.

Lol this has to be THE dumbest thing I've ever seen.
in a truck yes because there’s no weight in the back
so I have a fwd vehicle....I should have winter tires on it?
Why use summer tires in winter conditions on ANY car?
Heres a tip Drive according to the road conditions. 8 year old nephew told me that one😂
What about UUHP like Conti Sport Contact 7? Is the sidewall stiff or soft?
Ever heard of all season tyres ?
With a car on summer tyres in winter conditions, 4WD & AWD are perfect for allowing you to arrive faster at an accident.
It shows that the tires do matter
I do not give two shits about handling!!!!! I am not a race car driver on my s class all i care about is a soft ride bring back sidewall .I hate rubber band tires and i hate this modern handling shit bring back cars like the big tanks of the 70s where you did not feel anything!!!!!! I always wonder why new cars feel like riding a buckboard and wonder why modern people are so stupid and their taste is shit and i wonder why anyone likes a harsh riding car.
Was it all wheel drive or 4 wheel drive? In some places it says 4 wheel drive and some it says all wheel drive, which actually is it???
I struggle so hard to lose traction in my Subaru with all seasons I know I just don’t need snow tires. If you have just a front wheel drive or you run summer tires then yeah get some snow tires
All season vs winter.
If you need winter tires, you simply don’t know how to drive.
The snow tires definitely helped to stop 🛑 🎉
This is why my dad’s car with snow mode is so badass… that m 35 is a bad bish in the snow…. Braking and accelerating
You shouldn't repair a run flat because if you absolutely abuse it and run it past its safety limits it can be damaged? Somethings not adding up here.
Four-wheel-drive was never going to make a difference… keyword is “Drive” not “four-wheel brake”
All cars brake in 4wd, this is the stupidest comparison I've ever witnessed
In my experience FWD always handled and got through snow better, my Impreza was terrible in the winter. I mean sure all my FWD besides my mazdaspeed protege were heavy, my Impreza always got stuck.
No shit when you abuse the tire like that. Anyone that has knowledge of their run flat is low that person won’t be an idiot
How did you find the road noise? I test drove the Si and GTI on the same day and found the GTI to be quieter. The Si wasn’t bad but it was noticeable. I didn’t like the infotainment system on GTI, but I think I could get used to it. Still debating which one I should get. Nice video, thanks. I liked that it was not scripted and off the cuff.
And yet people in the UK cant be bothered to swap them in winter! 🤦🏻♂️
Can you please do an electric vehicle (idk what transmission, if any the use)versus an all-wheel drive gas vehicle
He didn't even answer the question, just damaged this tire until it was not repairable
That was a great “review”. I own this car and I had the previous version in a coop and I think this is a terrific car for 30 grand no-brainer tune it up with a Hondata to 240 hp to 260hp fantastic fun.
Run-flat tires are better/stronger than regular tires! As long as you treat them as regular ones, aka, don’t run too much (as shown in the video), they are REPAIRABLE! Don’t confuse people please!
🤣😂 Well of course if you go out of your way to beat the living hell out of the damn thing ... yeah, you might want to pass on THAT one. You do realize that's not every situation right? Nail in the tread, owner notices it, remove tire, take to shop, zero issue fixing that puncture. It's called discretion. Video designed to scare the uninformed into buying tires when they might not need to.
Yeah, but you gotta do a comparison between four-wheel-drive and four-wheel drive with winter and non-winter😂
Yay you can hit 90 faster. Now see who can take a turn or stop going down hill better ...
Its not run-flats that we dont repair but tires that have been ran flat
Well said!
This would be better without dealer mark ups. Id go for a turbo mazda 3 instead
Mazda handles like crap
But it does make a difference if you let the vehicle slow down if you downshift first..
When it comes to braking, All wheel drive cars tend to be heavier than front wheel drive cars considering they’re the exact same vehicles. The guy in the video clearly thinks that front wheel drive cars have only two brakes.
Maybe its bc that suv weighs over 2000 more pounds then that car hmmmm...
Some people skipped physics and its legitimately very useful to understand car traction in the snow and why it could be dangerous when not handled well.
4wd and ? Braking is braking with 4wd/fwd/rwd... All the same
Why would you test braking when doing a fwd vs awd comparison? Doesn't make sense at all.
We needed testing for this? You trolling?
I only use all-season tires in the winter and never had a problem. While I’m sure snow tires are better, with the amount of time before the roads are cleared they don’t make sense for me. If you live in an area where roads aren’t cleared or have the luxury of a second “snow” car perhaps it would make sense. Otherwise the expensive, wear, gas mileage and poorer performance on cleared pavement make it an easy decision for me.
Flew to Michigan to buy a Corvette. Scared to drive it to Florida with Run Flats on holiday weekend. A flat means stranded for days because nobody stocks my size tire. I made it home and trashed those Run Flats quickly.
4WD IS NOT AWD!! yall dumb😂
The distinction is vague and not legally defined.
For those of you complaining about how and doesn't matter in a break test, keep in mind that this is a piece of a linger video that went over acceleration, hill climb and turning. His statement is at the very end and referencing everything.
I have 4x4 and winter rated all terrain tires, my truck does really well in the snow.
Not sure if you take comments and make videos from them so just a thought. Im really curious how a run flat compares to an extra load tire in pot holes or road hazards. Will the run flat tire protect the rim more vs the XL or SL tire?
I think “sport compact” is a more encompassing term to refer to these sporty small saloons and hot hatches.
Another dumb example from people with no brain
Get tractor tyres😂 they stop you like there isn't snow😊
Isn’t the awd car heavier though?😮
I couldn’t find an Si without a $5,000 markup. I ended up finding a Mk8 GTi and have been blown away by how much I love that car. MPG’s around 35 are easy on road trips and I don’t have to worry about a fragile 1.5T that has been known to lift head studs and blow head gaskets.
My understanding is the head gasket/stud issues are only when power is added?
@@Shereika1 Yup, people's reading comprehension has taken a huge dive recently. All the cases I read about those issues are people that up the boost by a lot and try to run the car pushing like 300+ hp without most of the required additional modifications. But people on the internet just read "blown engine on Civic 1.5t", ignoring all context presented before the blown engine part.
@@Shereika1if you install better head studs you wont have any issues, i still recommend putting forged internals before putting a lot of power (anything over 300) (also a owner of a 22 civic si orange)
FWD with winter tires vs AWD with all season tires. That would be more realistic.
I’ve done my own side by side of this test with a Toyota Sienna FWD 2008 with winter Blizzaks WS90 tires. Then drove a new Subaru Ascent with stock all season tires. My neighbor and I drove on the same empty roads and tried side by side acceleration, braking and I concluded good studless winter tires are far better for on road snowy conditions. I also had a AWD Toyota with blizzaks in the garage that I already knew it would be better. The FWD family van with WS90 tires was night and day better stopping from 25-30mphs. Acceleration on the FWD was barely slower off the line. I honestly was wanting to know if I really was hyping my tires over all season on awd. Winter tires all the way. Now winters AND awd is of course the best from great acceleration and good stopping performance. I suggest for everyone mainly buying awd for winter driving to buy a set of winters on rims and simply go FWD vs AWD and no winter tires. Special cases like steep driveways in winter then yes AWD but don’t for go the winter tires.
