    Probably deserving of a red card but the Gloucester player acted like a footballer there. No way was there enough power in that connection for it to floor him.

    All those people calling Lawes a thug - these are exactly the kind of tackles that people used to cream themselves over when Chabal made them. Absolutely nothing wrong with this hit whatsoever.

    was a fair tackle... if u know anything about rugby u would know that it is only illegal to tackle the catcher if he is in mid air catching the ball.... this sir was a fantastic hit. get over it.

    it's a head butt, yes therefore a red card. Azam might have dive. but as soon as the head goes to another player. the ref should take action.

  • @TheTaffy84
    @TheTaffy84 12 лет назад

    If you watch alot of his tackles they are so hard that he cant actually hold on to the player untill the ground, now dont get me wrong its impressive power but its illegal as he has not taken the player to ground with control. A few of his tackles are border line bans.

  • @AjRhCp
    @AjRhCp 12 лет назад

    @petespirals Yes, and I'm sure the person who 'takes him out big time' will be a lovely fella. There is nothing wrong with this tackle. It's not high, he wraps the arms, he hits him low and hard. The reason the scrumhalf (seriously, a scrumhalf vs. A Lock and you're surprised he got monged) gets hurt is because he's crouched slightly and gets hit in the shoulders. If he'd jumped for it, Lawes couldn't tackle him anyway. I'd agree he's a thug if he'd punched someone, or kicked him in the face.

  • @GeorgeMontagu
    @GeorgeMontagu 12 лет назад

    @petespirals Courtney Lawes is not a fucking thug, he wouldn't hurt a fly off the pitch. He is not trying to deliberately hurt other players, he's centering his aggression and trying to make big hits which can halt momentum, force a turnover etc. If "everyone" were capable of the tackles Lawes makes, then they all WOULD be doing it. I'm sure Tomas would have no complaints, it was a legal tackle and he knew what he was signing up for by playing professional rugby.

    Lawes did his best to wrap the player, as the commentators are saying, he's making amends of his earlier faults. This is what rugby is; full contact sports.

  • @petespirals
    @petespirals 13 лет назад

    @TCLeeBrown he is a thug, like yourself. Its a tough game, but the idea is not to deliberately injure other players. If everyone played like that, the game would last 5 minutes. just like if everyone wrote like you the comments would be unreadable.

    Cheyanqui, that did happen in a game in Wales years ago, a player was red carded for rubbing his studs down the back of a player, and was red carded, the player ran after the other and kicked him up the arse.. it was down in playful manor, but the player was making a point, difference there though, the 'victim' of the rucking also pleaded with the ref not to send the player off... They were two internationals at the time, (early 1980's)

    disgraceful stuff from Azam. It was justice that Cardiff went on to win this game, and i think a lot of people lost respect for Azam after this incident.

  • @cheyanqui
    @cheyanqui 13 лет назад

    I've always wished if a guy "gamed" you like Azam did, that he would then walk over and give them a real stamp to the face and say "that'll give you something to cry about". Then go over to the referee and say, "I'll take the red card for that, not the previous wendyball dive"

    @tyrant1505 And just so you know, Andries Bekker is currently locking better than Victor Matfield and is arguably the form lock in Super Rugby at the moment. And believe me, I watch Super Rugby and Currie Cup rugby every year and Bekker is greatly improved. There is a clear indication that his time in the gym has payed off as he now makes his presence felt all over the paddock, not just at lineouts

  • @thestaggy
    @thestaggy 13 лет назад

    @tyrant1505 HaHaHa! Seriously? Bakkies Botha is one half of the most dominant lock combinations world rugby has EVER seen. He and Victor Matfield were the gold standard in terms of locks for nearly 4/5 years. And please, do not try and convince me that Botha and Thorn are not two of the most intimidating players on a rugby pitch. Granted, Botha is no longer in his prime, but rewind 3 years and he would touch up ANYTHING the North had to offer.

  • @tyrant1505
    @tyrant1505 13 лет назад

    @thestaggie Agree to disagree fella! He certainly did NOT beat Lawes at EVERY "point of contact" whatsoever. Courtney by the way is 18 stone plus and growing! Brad Thorn OR Botha couldn't lace MJ's or even Grewcock's boots, the SH's have produced FAR better locks! I actually LOVE Super Rugby and SH rugby, we visit the cape Bi-yearly, but those two don't set the standard for me I'm afraid! Re Bekker, I've seen the "bulked up" physique, only time will tell if it adds to his game or detracts!

  • @thestaggy
    @thestaggy 13 лет назад

    @tyrant1505 Sorry mate, but faster/lighter will not beat the big boys from down South. Especially as the Northern tendency to play for set pieces will bring him into physical contact often. Fortunately for him, he will not have to worry about the likes of Brad Thorn or Bakkies Botha much longer as they're reaching the end of the line. Botha done a great job, he beat Lawes at every point of contact and that is his job. He even got around to tackle Lawes when he tried to get down the sideline.

  • @tyrant1505
    @tyrant1505 13 лет назад

    @thestaggie He's a "kid" who's learning, it certainly does him good to mix it with the likes of experienced guys like Botha BUT simply "bulking" will SLOW him down, place extra stress on ligaments thus joints, faster/lighter always overcomes heavier/slower guy, that's physics. Courtney will be fine eating like he does, squats, cleans, dead's chins etc, he's levelled players FAR bigger than him, and as a "kid", good god, I'd have expected Botha to do a far better job than he did!.

  • @thestaggy
    @thestaggy 13 лет назад

    Okay, let's not get ahead of ourselves. Parra is a scrumhalf. When he played us, The Boks, during our end of year tour, he was soundly bossed by Bakkies Botha. While he is gifted athletically, he's gonna need to come up with a few more kilos and add more strength for the international level, especially against more physical opponents. Same with Andries Bekker, who is also a Bok lock. At 2.08m he is the tallest Bok, but built like a string-bean. He recently went on a bulking-up programme.
