a lot of good and bad came outa both re2 and re4 remakes, overall these are good games which should've been new standalone entries since so much work went into them. however remaking these classics so they can replace the old is wishful thinking. there's artificial limitations put in the game instead of balancing the elements around the player mechanics and movement, controls feel so janky in the re4 remake its appalling that the game gets so much pointless praise. Plus cutting content will never sit well with fans no matter what.

I actually tried playing this game again. Wow is it boring the second time around. The original has a charm and soul that can never be beat. The remake is basically a Powerpoint presentation featuring the core beats with none of the energy nor emotional weight to back it up. Its a shame since the remakes after this one aren't much better, and are just walking cash grabs to justify keeping the franchise alive.

I feel like this video makes some good points and would've been more well-received without the pointlessly inflammatory title. You just had to call it "The lost art of RE2's storytelling" or something because these (good and reasonable) complaints are pretty much all focused on the story when it's the gameplay that makes the remake good.

Since this came out natively for PS5 recently I bought it physically after buying it for PC when it released. Just finished Claire 2nd run today and man....its wild how much i dont remember about the original. I played it so much as a teenager but havent since. I forgot about a lot of stuff that wasnt into it. This video really makes A LOT of good points as to how this remake isnt as amazing as everyone says it is. I will never say its bad, but after being reminded of so much content the remake leaves out and doesnt even explain, i definitely look at it differently now. I think im going to go through the original again and also make comparisons 😊

Only intelligent humans know that all the remakes are bad, that re6 was pretty alright and that rev2 was the last real re game

Honestly this is one of the better reviews I’ve seen for the dead space remake. Of course it’s not the best but the reason why I like this review, it’s because he talks about the game that no other reviewer wants to talk about. Which is -making the female characters ugly and making Isaac look like a different person, -the sound effects is weaker than the original game, -adding more cutscenes in the game, -the acting and the voice acting is mid to bad. The people who got mad at him for saying that Nicole (who is a fictional character) looks like someone grandma, are ridiculous. I bet these people never been around normal women and only been around crazy liberal or SJW women. I also bet they never played the original dead space and just want to attack someone for not accepting a game that was most likely funded by Black Rock, D.E.I &/or sweet baby inc. This is the problem with woke people, if somebody doesn’t like a product because it promotes the Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion propaganda then the Woke people will attack & shame those people by calling them incels & other words that woke people like to use to attack their opponent, instead of debunking their arguments and be civil about it. And all of this does it makes normal people & consumers hate woke people/bread tubers, and pushes them to support people like TBYS because they are sick of being attack for having opinion that is different from theirs. I didn’t care about politics but I think I’m going to vote for Donald Trump, not because I like him but because I hate woke people.

The part about how Sherry's voice acting is the most well-delivered is spot on. The rest of the characters are just passable at best. The two main characters' voice actors have little to no experience and it shows. Couple that together with poorly written script by writers who have very little understanding of literature and how to apply it in dialogue makes listening to the cast very annoying. On top of which the characters also won't stop talking to let me just enjoy the setting. It's really frustrating.

This remake is a masterpiece. Stop jerking off to the original. Remake is not remastered. I love the original and all the memories connected to it, bit the fucking doors and fixed camera angles - no thanks. Saying that remake is garbage is just plain stupid. Like old folks saying „back in my days“

I really enjoy watching retrospectives. And this one is great. Though I dont agree with some of the assessments I do agree with most of it. It's unfortunate she doesn't make these vids anymore. Apparently because people were harassing her. How insane... Its a game... A toy.... Why are people so insane?

Funny I expressed a lot of similar opinion even before the game was released. That video still gets comments to this day as it's a 50/50 split of agreement and disagreement. I ended up playing the game years later to find my gut was right. Though it was not as action heavy as Re4-6. It failed on everything past the RPD. The characters and dialogue bugged me the most and this woman did a great job in breaking that down 👏

You are right on 99.9% of this video, but about the G-Virus cabinet: In Leon's scenario, you can see Sherry's locket in the thing that was used to open it. The implication is that Claire came through before Leon. It still doesn't make sense because Claire and Leon both fight Birkin in that area and Annette gets mortally wounded by G-Birkin in each one. It's almost like they wanted to give the idea that Annette survived in Claire's scenario and limped back to the lab to shoot William with the chemical gun.

OG Ashley almost died multiple times : - almost got shot by burning arrows - almost got impaled by spears - almost got shot from Leon - almost got crushed to death - almost got drilled to death - and almost drowned Talk about near death experience They also kept on referencing her in the future games : - In RE5 it was that blondy who became a miniboss - In RE6 there was that other blondy who had a gun but got pulled away by zombies , plus there was Sherry who despite beeing an FBI agent got saved around 10 times - In RE7 there was Mia - In RE8 there was Elena ( and Mia again ) - And even in the DLC while Rose was getting escorted in a cave it gave me a dejavu vibe

In the remake isaac and nicole are older because it makes sense for someone in her position to have more experience with age instead of her being too young

I had my niece play resident evil 2 og. Shes never played any game from the franchise but she has played games where you can control the person over the shoulder or in first person. After two hours of playing, I asked her what she thought. She stated: "Its too scary because I can only see in one perspective." That comment alone was enough to understand the direction of the current resident evil wasnt for me. Not to say theyre bad games but its definitely no masterpiece. I don't understand why these fans constitute good graphics as "masterpieces." Its a totally different game and atmosphere. I personally dont think it reaches the same horror the OGs give out.

This game is ridiculous! I totally disagree with you about Mr X. The run bis with Claire, the tyrant teleports as if by chance to all the places you wanna go, no matter if 5 seconds before, he was on the opposite side of the police station! Or how to extend a lousy lifespan!

I quit playing in the main hall of the police station at the very beginning. I wasted 30 dollars and waited 20+ years for this garbage devolved version. Right in the main hall theres a laptop with no wires running to it and it controls all the locks... In 1998? No one thought about that one simple detail? Its like in resident evil 7 where they just place random stuff in weird places. A riding lawnmower in the crawlspace right every American keeps one there. Candles that eternally burn and who lights them all? I want my 30 dollars back I'd rather have bought weed with it.

All three remakes are actually dog sh1t and didnt even need a remake. What remakes were needed were Veronica and Outbreak.
