Hello there! Just came upon your posting. Really enjoyed it. I'm a native Nevada of 72+, born in Ely, grew up in Reno, lived in Elko, Wells & am now in Vegas. It's fun getting to see the places I've been. Nevada is an amazing & wonderful place with fantastic scenery & history. Best of all are the people. Thanks for sharing!!

There were actually 5 versions of the town of Sprucemont. The silver was horn silver which is found in huge cone shaped masses. Generally these pockets are never connected to other ore bodies so when one was mined out they had to find another. Each time they'd dismantle the town and move it to the next mine site....and yes, there is still horn silver to be found on Spruce Mountain! I hope no one ever finds it-it would be a crying shame to see the place get "developed."

I stayed at the Mizpah a few years ago. I had a great time. Their bar was open and I got totally wasted.

The Mound Valley School in Jiggs is actually K-8th grades. My grandfather went there, my father, myself, and our two boys. Some of you have been asking where the “community” is that needs a community center, also known as “the Hall” by locals. The Valley is comprised of mostly ranching family’s, bringing the population up to around 100 people. A gold mine to the south and the Ruby Marshes to the southeast, provide most of the vehicle traffic that tend to stop at the bar, along with locals.

Went to Wendover a couple of times on a junket from KC rhat combined cheap flight with room. Was a good time and worth the price.

WEST Wendover is in Nevada. Wendover is in Utah. The state line runs through the town - west is one state, east is the other.

That was a fascinating journey through your weight loss surgery. It's a huge commitment and you obviously have made up your mind that you WILL be successful! We miss you both so much doing restaurant reviews over here in BHC and Laughlin but your new life in Elko sounds like it suits you both well. Used to own a grocery store in Wendover, my brother worked for me and I took him to the green lantern brothel in Ely for his birthday I think it might have been one of the red buildings you showed, made a deal with the madam when she closed at I think around 3 in the morning we had 2 gal's and spent the rest of the night there, around 1987 I believe
