Unfortunately, on mine it was unable to be fixed. However, the part itself, if I remember correctly, is related to the bluetooth connection and it somehow got overloaded. They can be replaced, assuming they don't burn a hole through the board.

Thanks, there's plenty more of the story written, and obviously the audio doesn't take long. I just have to take the time to put the thumbnails and videos together. :) I don't plan on stopping putting these up though, so no worries there.

Sorry I wouldn't, since I had the burnt board, I was unable to ever properly ever properly explore the device. I will say that, when I plugged it in it would still show a green charging light even with the burned parts. So, it may still be related. I would check that area again, especially the capacitors and everything else around that area.

Sure do, whether or not you'll be able to find it is another matter. They used three cylindrical Lithium-Polymer battery meant for e-cigarettes. The model is JS17650-Q2 (2000mAh - 11.1V - 22.2Wh) MH60401 Hope that helps.

Unfortunately yes, the hole it created went completely through the board. There was no way I could fix it, if it had been a little less damaged I could have done something but not when it was to that extent.

Awesome, thanks for letting me know. I'd been putting these up more on a whim than anything else and wasn't even sure if people were actually listening to them.

It slips right off as soon as you undo the screws. It's been awhile now, but that's what I remember happening. There are some screws holding the PCB board in place as well, but that was it.

Agreed, Ramon did a great job on them.

I don't like surface mount stuff, my hands are shaky enough that it makes repairing them a struggle most times.

I know right? Just how much power were they pumping through it to scorch it that badly? You can't see it in the video, but that burn goes all the way through the board.

Right? It turned out a lot better than I had initially expected.

I'll be uploading the next video sometime tonight, so it'll go live tomorrow. I had fun putting this together, but I admit the quality of the build was less than I was hoping for. It did turn out nice, just kind of flimsy.
