Today they are in separate pots. Originally I though these were called Mixed Bougainvilleas because there were mixed colors on one bougainvillea. I have come to realize the name “Mixed” is because the...

Beautiful Vlog!😮New subscriber now. Hopefully,we will be friends and start connecting then.😊❤❤❤❤
I have a question...Can you cut the top out of a very tall main plant and will that top root in water or soil AND will it regrow or bush out from where you made the cut? Any advice might help. Thanks, Mike in Jackson, TN,, Zone 7b, west Tennessee.
Yes. Make sure the part of the bougie you are planning to root is not green. Take the cutting and keep it in indirect light and humid. Use a plastic bag to create humidity. Or split the branch with a diagonal cut, wrap the cut in soil and then wrap the soil with plastic and tie the ends of the plastic.
@gardenmix656 Thank you! I've already done the cut, rooted it in a jar of water outdoors in the shade on my deck and planted now in organic compost & manure. Doing well and putting out new growth. Many Thanks!
Wow!Blueberry ice!😍
No blue it is parpl
Your voice reminds me of the Andy Griffith show....
Where can buy Callisia Fragrans? Thanks.
My wife and I got ours from a friend who pinched off one of the pups. I would look online if you can’t wait to get one. If you don’t mind going to the different nursery’s in your area sporadically you will find one eventually
Nice 🎉
Hey do you know the max size of this variety?
I kept it in a 8 inch pot and it didn’t grow very big. I don’t have any experience with planting this one in a larger pot or ground so I don’t have any experience with idea of how big it will get. As far as I know there are not any dwarf sized bougainvilleas so I imagine it will grow as big as any other bougainvillea although I don’t know this to be a fact.
In india why blue berry ice flower petals are small?
So beautifull❤
Can I put it in water until it forms roots? Or it doesn't work this way?
I never tried to root it in water. Propagation has never been an issue with rooting it in dirt with no special attention.
Big deal we need more US base video on Bougainville soil and care . This video was very informative Thank You.
This season has been tough to get out content. I haven’t had the time to get out in the garden and take care of my babies (bougies) much less my yard. I lost half of my bougies due to the drought and my lack of time to maintain the water schedule. I will be making more content for sure!
I love the Ashlee Simpson dance
My wife is adorable and I love her silliness! She didn’t want to leave that part in there but I agree with you, I love it too! Thanks for sharing brother!!
Beautiful basket very nice sharing
Thank you! We haven’t had the time lately to propagate much of these so we started to just clip them and shove them into the ground. Literally nothing else. This species grows like a weed. Very little care and maintenance.
Thank you, I am learning a lot from your channel. The Callisto fragrans, succulents and jade, I am new to these and I am encouraged and going to make mine like yours :) and a very calming voice!
Thank you for the compliment! This season has been tough! I haven’t had time to take care of my babies (plants) much less my yard. So this season has been a bust… Next season I plan on putting out more content and rebuilding my collection.
You just got a new subscriber! I have lots of these cuttings in water, they grow like crazy and I got them from a big one nobody took care of in my office. I did not know the name of the plant so now I know what to do with them. Thank you so much!🌿🌱🪴
We love them too! They are hard to kill and produce so many babies! We started just taking clippings and shoving them in the ground with 100% success rate. We don’t have the heart to toss any in the trash so we have dozens now!
Waoo beautiful bogainvillea❤
I love them too! Thank you for sharing!
What zone are you in BTW?
I am in zone 9. Sorry for the late reply. I haven’t had time for the garden much less anything else recreationally. Next season I am excited to rebuild my collection with more videos!!
What are the light requirements for Raspberry Ice? Bougainvillea typically want full sun but variegated plants normally don't. So variegated bougainvillea, full or part sun?
Zone 9. I keep mine hanging on the side of my shed in full sunlight. Based on my understanding Boogies like heat and lots of light. This raspberry ice boogie is tough to get color on it. At the beginning of the season it does really well on its own but then it’s hard to get it to show its color. My in laws have a raspberry ice and it does get more shade and a little bit more color now that I think about it. So after reading your comment I’m going to give it less light to see if anything changes. I have two more variegated boogies, Spring Snow (white) and blueberry ice (bluish) and they do fine in full sun. So I’m puzzled but will still experiment. Thanks for the feed back!! It’s been thought provoking and helpful!!
@Garden Mix Happy to help. I appreciate when fellow gardeners bounce ideas and share different perspectives with me, so I try to do the same. Unfortunately, not all "YT Gardeners" are as receptive, but glad you are. 👍 Let me know how it goes and what you find works best with your trials. Sounds like raspberry ice is a bit of a troublemaker. Those variegated varieties are stunning.
Thank you so much!
You're welcome!
My plant doesn’t have a root. Will it root while in soil?
It could. There are specific conditions it needs to root. Indirect light and humidity. I haven’t been really successful in rooting cuttings. I’ve seen it done but I haven’t got the humidity level right. My cuttings typically get mold (too much humidity) or dry out (not enough humidity). I’ve been successful on a small scale and got some cutting to root a little bit but eventually they die. Rooting hormone is one method and another is to stick the cutting into a piece of aloe and plant. Those two methods aid in root development but there is still the issue of humidity. In my zone (9) humidity can be at 100% in the summer so the best time to take cuttings for me is spring. The plants will have a natural growth spurt and I can control the humidity better. The best success I’ve have with rooting cutting is cutting a branch diagonally half way, stuffing the wound with soil, covering the outside of the wound with more moist soils and then wrapping it in plastic and tiring off. In a couple months roots form and you just cut right below the wrapped plastic, remove plastic (use care, roots will be fragile) and plant. No leaves drop!
Excellent... exactly what I was looking for!
Perfect!
It looks really beautiful! Was used to seeing pink and violet varieties, and I have to say this one will look good in contrast the those.
I’m addicted to the boogies because of the variety!!
Hello 🌻🌷
Hello 😊
I have over 400 cultivars of hybrid Bougainvilleas and they all have personality of their own 😅
My life goal 😆
Wait Im in Texas too! Do you guys sell cuttings? I'm really looking for Thai delight 😮
I don’t sell cuttings…. I lost one Thai Delight this season 😪 They pop up here and there in unexpected places. When I’m on the hunt for particular varieties I’m a little obsessed about stopping in nurseries for a look. I’ve found hard to find varieties at grocery stores and home improvement stores so check at those places also.
What state are you located in? Do you sell cuttings of your Thai delight bougainvillea?
In winter one of my basket plant leaf is turning red is it dying??
It shouldn’t… I have many that are in pots which I bring in when it freezes and others that remain outside in freezing weather. None have died.
It's not snow spring it's Hawaiian white
I’ve seen the Hawaiian White before and when I picked this one up it was labeled Spring Snow for a grower who only sells boogies. So I figured it might be different from Hawaiian White but maybe not. As to not mislead the viewers I just represented the boogie as it was labeled. If I find a Hawaiian White I will pick it up to compare. Maybe the grower I got it from took a cutting from a Hawaiian White and decided to make up their own name for one reason or another. There is some mystery surrounding some of the names I’ve found due to mislabeled plants. Thanks for the heads up!
I love your Bougainville collection....
Thank you!! I love it too!! 😆
I’m new the basket plant but really loving mine. So my plant has three branches and the babies are small, like on your intact plant at the end. Do I need to keep waiting until the babies are more teenagers and larger? Because right now mine are there but small.
It doesn’t matter. I let them get big because I like the look. Eventually they will just fall off and that’s okay too. Once the “branch” starts drying out I clip it and do something with the pup.
What are the uses for this plant
Decorative. For potting arrangements they tend to look the best with a filler, thriller and a spiller. This one I use as a thriller along with an additional spiller.
Very bad for dogs ,am I right,?
The sap is not good for people and animals. It causes a rash. I’ve never experienced this first hand.
I live in zone 5b could that be ideal for one of these? Thank you!
Doable but not ideal. Keep it in a pot and bring it in when the temperature gets close to freezing. Bougainvilleas like to be root bound and it’s easier to force them to show their color in a pot.
It is a medicine plant
Not all… it just smells of Vick’s. It’s neat to pull off a leaf and show company and it’s a pretty, easy to grow plant. Other than that no medical properties
For upper respiratory. Look up vicks plant health benefit.
This plant is zero maintainence . Add whatever compost u have but dont water excessive
I’m in Texas and they love the heat! It’s perfect because the pots dry out quick. Amending potting soil with a bunch of sand helps during hurricane season to allow the excess water to drain quickly. Before I discovered using sand as a soil amendment my boogies would drop their flowers when excessive rain would come. I would have to bring them inside a covered patio to prevent the flowers from dropping. Technically the flowers are bracts, or modified leaves but i was just simplifying words.
Hello, I’m in zone 10b (San Francisco) I just purchased two bougainvillea’s from the nursery, I’d like to repot them, can you elaborate more on the type of soil that works best for the bougainvilleas
Sorry for the late reply. You’ll want to customize the soil to your climate. I live in Houston TX so it gets hot and we can sometimes get waterlogged in hurricane season. So I mix sand and potting mix. About 1/2 sand and 1/2 potting mix. It may take a couple of seasons to get your mixture down to a science. Since we can have a rainy season I like to use more sand for maximum drainage. If the roots stay soggy the plant will loose its bracts (colorful leaves). There is a trade off, using more sand will also make them dry out quicker so in the heat of the summer which is really hot here in Texas I’ll have to water more often. I prefer to water more often since bringing in all the bougies is a pain when it rains excessively. Judge the soil mixture by how often you have to water. If you have to water every other day that’s good. Bougies love heat so putting them next to a wall that radiates heat will also help them to dry out but also help them develop color. If they don’t have color right away, trim, let them dry out until it droops and then feed with a equal fertilizer like 555, 101010, 151515.
WOW super amazing Super beautiful Oh my god💞💞💞
Thank you!! We get to enjoy their color until late November to mid December depending on the weather. Texas is weird when it comes to cool weather.
Like 👍 19. Very beautiful and healthy plants 👌❤. Nice propagation through cutting 👌. New friend joined you. Hope you will also join us ❤ 😀 🙏🏻 🤝 👈. Watched full video 😊
I planted rosemary today. I feel so happy
I absolutely love the look at rosemary! Horizon, Huntington Blue and Tuscan blue are my favorite. We make a simple “no kneed” bread with the rosemary. We also have basil, oregano and thyme so we chop those up real good, add olive oil and dip our rosemary bread in it. Sometimes I’ll dice garlic and roast it and using that in the olive oil mixture also.
I just bought this bougainvillea today. Do I need to add anything in the potting mix? How big should the pot be?
So sorry about the late reply!!! It’s not necessary to repot unless you have a prettier pot you like better. The soil the boogie comes in is a well draining soil because nurseries water everything every day so the soil has to dry out daily. That being said it already has really good draining appropriate for the boogie to thrive. Boogies also like to be root bound so the concern of the pot being too small is not an issue. When you do choose to repot use potting mix and amend with sand. 70/30 (70% sand 30%potting soil) is a good ratio. A lot of potting mixes use elements that retain moisture and the boogies roots are really fine. So when the roots stay wet they will die off. The boogie will start to drop leaves and eventually die if it remains soggy. I’ve had to repot a dying boogie once because the pot wouldn’t dry out. Once I got the boogie in the correct soil it bounced back extremely well. I’ll keep my eye on the comments section more diligently so if you have any more questions don’t expect to wait as long.
@@gardenmix656 thanks a lot.
