This system doesn't support hdmi, and you can't enjoy surround sound in a laptop, so you need either optical toslink or 3.5mm sperate support. Otherwise, you won't enjoy the actual 5.1 sound.

I heard that optical to hdmi converters are also available now in the market, so buy a good converter and enjoy this system as much as you like.
