Thanks for talking about this.
@@halleylujah247 You are very welcome
This book would be missing the Office of Readings which gives a Scriptural Lesson, a Spiritual Reading (which is often patristic) and Psalms every day. The Office of Readings is largely the reason why a full LOTH is so many volumes. Hope this helps.
The full LOTH set is quite expensive so I just use an app to access the Office of readings.
@@Broken_ChainsM Thanks for that
@@Nicholas-MichaelGlad to help. I personally use a different Office which has been approved Via the Ordinariates, but I still appreciate the LOTH.
This is very raw and honest. Well done. As Catholics, we tread lightly on this subject with our Protestant friends, but Sola Fida is a deal breaker. Unless he repented, I do not think that Martin Luther or the other reformers for that matter are with God in heaven. Keep up the good work.
@@ruthgilmour8399 Glad you like it. It's not my best work but I tried. As for Luther, I can say that Luther's vitriol and hatred towards the Church and the Clergy is adamant in his writings. Also, his racism was very prevalent in his writings. His disdain for Jews is on par with his disdain for the Church. These are sins punishable by hell. As far as Protestants, I think ignorance allows them to be awarded the Grace of Salvation, but they are in purgatory for a long time.
Excellent. Thank you for trying to understand Catholicism. Lifting the veil for Protestants is not easy. You may enjoy Dr Brant Pitre on RUclips if you haven't seen him yet. All about Jewish roots.

Did not realize it was a translation of the K J V , as a Catholic for memorizing I prefer the King James so I will have to check this out.
Not so much a translation of the KJV but an update of the KJV, but also with new discovered texts, like the Dead Sea Scrolls. The RSV uses the Critical Text. I could do a video on the type of texts used today.
If you enjoy the Elizabethan language you should invest in a Douay-Rheims.
Thank you for sharing this book of prayers of the hours liturgy. It looks like it has nice dark print so easy to read, I appreciate that. Thank you.

@@megl6148 Thanks, I'll check that out.
I have this version and I love it. Mainly just do morning, evening and night prayer, so I never found the need to get the four volume set. Sometimes if I ever want to do a daytime prayer I have an app that has all the hours. The liturgy of the hours is supposedly going to get an update next year, so possibly I’ll by the new four volume set.
Is this AI or really Dr JP? I bet this sparks some people. A lot say never improvise new speech into scripture. I understand translations . Does anyone know if this is real or generated?
@@practicalinterests7820 It's him 100 percent
@@Nicholas-Michael are you sure it's not Sora Open AI text to video? It just seems like he released thist just as Church of England wants to take Church out of their name. And some are calling for a new Bible. It's just questionable. All of the Platforms are trying to control the narrative. Not to mention TV. It's all like a giant video game they just spin as your scroll. Hmm interested to see if he mentions this later. Or praying in public. He's said things against that before. Pointing out ancient Israeli priests. I'm on the fence on this one. Deep , deep fakes are going to be harder to spot as things progress.
I love the Christian Prayer LOTH Breviary. You should also get the Shorter version. It is great as a training kit. I bought, bought the first Volume Liturgy of the Hours for Advent/Christmas and was very overwhelmed by it. I like simplicity. Believe it or not, lots of Franciscan friars, some priests as well as the clergymen and pastors use the Christian Prayer Breviary. Even if the Office of Readings is limited, this flows better. The four volume set is a lot of time to put in. Realistically, even with my busy schedule, I don't have all that time in the day to pray.
Acts 9:31 King James Version 31 Then had the churches rest throughout all Judaea and Galilee and Samaria, and were edified; and walking in the fear of the Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Ghost, were multiplied.

Hey bro, consider coming to Holy Orthodoxy. I know it sounds far off but I used to be/attend RC Mass. The Divine Liturgy is just beyone beautiful, the Good, the True, and the Beautiful… all three are in Jesus’ One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church
@@womboyeckelstein I have considered it bro, but thanks for the polite comment. The Catholic Church has Byzantine and Eastern Rites, which are Orthodox, but that's as far as I will go. Would love to discuss more on liturgy.
@@Nicholas-Michael No problem bro! I feel like even though there are Eastern Rites they aren’t really the same, of course I mean no insult but they feel like an approximation of the Liturgy. It also seems like they share very little in terms of RC theology. The Melkite Catholic Patriarch has said: “…We [Melkite Church theologians and members] have almost nothing in common with Rome except full communion, and we have everything in common with Orthodoxy, except full communion.” It also seems to me that Vat. 2 changed a lot of doctrines, like salvation, even us worshipping the same “god” that Msulims worship, which is pretty clearly false.
Firstly, that is not entirely correct. Vatican II didn't change anything on salvation or reinvent new doctrine. Rather, the Radical Traditionalists have misunderstood Vatican II as well as some Orthodox groups. As far as differences in Rites in the Catholic Church, Roman rite is another Rite, all Rites are in accordance with the Magisterium and communion with the Church and the Pope. Lastly, Michael Lofton is an Eastern Catholic, and well versed in the nuances and knowledge of the various Rites and even Orthodox theology. As for me, due to my understanding of the historical record, Church fathers, and scripture, I will remain Catholic. We can agree to disagree. Peace be upon you.
@@womboyeckelstein Also, if you've expected me to have a more thorough response on these subjects, it's not going to come in the form of a RUclips comment, but probably a RUclips video. However, I'm no expert in Orthodox theology or even arguments from the Orthodox aimed at Catholics. Dealing with the illegitimate claims from Protestants is one thing, but arguing Orthodoxy and ecumenical councils and so forth requires an expert level of knowledge.
@@Nicholas-Michael No problem lol, I’m no expert on the topic either. I try to get what I can from guys like Ubi Petrus, but it’s hard with a normal size brain… lol
ANOTHER Nordic Catholic? Can't be. Truly?
There have been many Scandinavians who have been Catholic, and especially during the Viking Age.
You talk way too slow. You pay for the Cambridge name! Like comparing a cheap car to a Lamborghini! And cut out the cussing. Sheets of paper have different thicknesses and weights. Take a class on book manufacturing and then you will become more qualified to speak on the topic.
I talk slowly so people can understand me, and I can speak clearly and concisely. Also, I don't have a script, or read from a prompt, these are my raw thoughts in real time. Additionally, your critique is nonsensical, because anyone can give a review of what they've purchased with no expertise. If you are looking for an expert opinion, I'd explore elsewhere. Lastly, I wasn't aware of any cussing in this video, but then again your comment is bizarre to say the least.

Most likely if it’s like other premium bibles it will have a supple leather cover, the gilding will be top notch and the paper should be super-premium. Basically feels like silk…definitely shouldn’t feel like newspaper. Seems like maybe they skimped on the paper, and I also notice there is no art-gilt which is really just a preference thing, and idk if Cambridge does it on most of their premiums. I don’t think they really like it, but personally I think they should. You don’t really pay for artwork & font layout. Which btw, probably the best Catholic Bible in those terms is the Illustrated Catholic Bible. Personally I’d even say best over all based on what I’ve seen. Very nice paper, single column, bold text, cool 16th century illustrations (unfortunately most are too small but there are 500 of them so what are you gonna do).
Oh the illustrated catholic bible is also NRSV which imo is a greatly superior translation to ESV. ESV is literally just a bunch of evangelicals took the RSV and changed some things to suit their theology. Look it up sometime, that’s really the story of it. Granted they also update the language in places but it’s not necessarily better if you want a more traditional feel. NRSV was a significant update to the RSV. In some places the language flows a lot more smoothly due to a better understanding of the intent, it isn’t just dumbed down like in the ESV. Personally I could never trust the ESV translation.
I personally find the RSV-2CE to be better than the ESV-CE. But they need to make more editions of the RSV-2CE: pocket versions in imitation leather, maybe?
When is this dude gonna just convert? He dances around it so much and he knows it’s true.
Right? Hope and Pray
The guy who promoted genocide
Who is promoting genocide?
I love the ESV translation EXCEPT one crucial passage. The ESV translate John 1:18 as "No one has ever seen God; the only God, who is at the Father's side, he has made him known." It is not clear that it is the Son who makes the Father known. This is especially obvious when you compare it to the RSV translation: " No one has ever seen God; the only Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he has made him known." I know that the ESV uses the manuscripts that reflect this rendering, but there are many manuscripts that are translated to read "only Son" instead of "only God" Most other English translation use "only Son"
I have that Cambridge ESV. My biggest gripe is the faintness of the font. It should be darker.
Interesting, I saw another reviewer comment on the darkness of the text, although he did also mention it could be inconsistent in places.
The Rosary is the "abstract" of the Gospels! :O
Correct
Howdy ho! Haha
This is a hard topic. Personally, I prefer the official Catholic bible of my country, called "Tradução CNBB". Surprisingly, the Protestant bibles are more homogeneous here, unbelievable! :O
A tradução da CNBB é boa! Mas honestamente, me inveja essas bíblias americanas.
I think you should mention that RSV You have appears to be the Second Catholic edition. I'm looking for a first edition RSV CE that has the annotations on the appropriate page rather than at the end of the Bible. Anyone know of a good edition?
I agree too
Amen brother. I’m ready to take my place in the pearly gates

@@tony1685 No, the Catholic Church does not teach to break the commandments. Actually it teaches the contrary. You seem to be very ignorant on Catholic teachings. In fact it is a mortal sin to break the commandments and we as Catholics have an obligation to repent. It is in fact the Protestants that teach to break commandments via Sola Fide. In fact, Luther went so far as to say that keeping commandments is sin itself. No, Catholicism does not teach to bow or worship false Gods, that is clearly laid out in the Catechism. We fully affirm and teach the 10 commandments. However, you seem to be extremely ignorant because there are more than 10 commandments. Those others apply to Christian life as well and are reaffirmed in canon law.
