    What paint did you use?

    • @anthonylink3773
      @anthonylink3773 7 лет назад

      Madeline Reigle I used 2000° F exhaust header paint and primer. Bought at our local auto zone store. Any automotive store should sell it. Harder to find 2000°F but notice 1500°F was more available. Hope this was a help.

      I used 3/4" expanded steel for top cooking grates and 1/4" expanded steel for the charcoal grates. both framed with 1/4" angle iron with 1/8" solid tube. Got all supplies from local hardware store (Home Depot). Hope that answers your question.

    Good luck... I never got 1 season out of mine. If I had to pay a repairman during the winter months, I would've been BROKE. Lucky I kept my Propane heater. The King of Junk cost $2000.00 in Lost Plants... in the greenhouse. USSC said there NOT 100%, etc., Took there time shipping replacement parts etc., Once you get screwed ONCE in a BIG Way, you let other people know, so they can make a more intelligent buying decision! I know there's companies out there that are PAYING PEOPLE to Write B.S. reviews on their products..... Buyers BEWARE

      I hear ya. I've had other lemon products in past from places that have been junk. I guess this one wasn't made on Friday lol. Another winter with no problems. (2 tons). I hope for many more seasons.

    • @anthonylink3773

      Casper0878 I use it for both. When smoking I only use half and put the coals and wood to one side and food to the other and use the dampers to control the heat flow

    Very nice BBQ, I am in the process of looking at different designs to build my own and so far I like most of your ideas. After you had some use out of it is there anything you would change if you would build it again?

    • @anthonylink3773
      @anthonylink3773 8 лет назад

      thank you. I've added shelves since this video. next time I think I would use bigger intake vents or add another. just because if I want to cook at higher temps its a little harder to get there. maybe 3"

    How did u bend the metal to fit the barrel on the door

    • @anthonylink3773
      @anthonylink3773 9 лет назад

      You mean the over lapped area? That was thin gage and tacked welded it on as I went. Bent easy with my hand except ribs, ball pin hammer.

  • @emmanuelbaussan9380
    @emmanuelbaussan9380 10 лет назад

    oh yeah what did you use around the door to seal it? it looks like some kind of bar

    • @anthonylink3773
      @anthonylink3773 10 лет назад

      The door I just cut flat pieces of steel 1" wide, cut the ends at a 45° angle. Formed them to the barrel and spot welded them on the door so it over lapped the unit.

  • @emmanuelbaussan9380

    very nice smoker. where is you get the pipes for the bottom? did you make it that way with the controls?

    • @anthonylink3773
      @anthonylink3773 10 лет назад

      Thanks. Those where 2¼" diameter double female exhaust pipe connectors I bought at local auto parts store, auto zone. I welded them in the spot I wanted and grinded them out from inside. The dampers I made. Those I traced on flat steel, but cut them slightly oval so they wouldn't turn 360° once mounted to the ¹/8 round solid stock for the controls. I mounted a tee on it with same stuff, in the same direction as dampers so I knew where I set it. Hope explained it well so it made since lol.

    What are the size of the grates? I have a few 55 gal drums and want to try and make a smoker.

    • @anthonylink3773
      @anthonylink3773 10 лет назад

      I used 3/4 expanded steel. Bought them at my local home depot for $29 each. They came in 2' x 2' square 12 gauge and cut them to fit the frames I made with 1/4 angle iron. The little handles on the grate are 1/8 round steel stock I bent and welded. Hope that was a help for ya.
