Antonia would have been a good choice to direct blood meridian
No it wasn't vegan or feminist or gay, men can respect each other without wanting to shag.
Ravenous is a hidden GEM! I love that movie. Saw it when it came out, I was only 14 years old, so it kinda left an impression. 😅 But in a good way. I ADORE the musical score....
5:21 what is she asking here "very sort of MALE in the focus ..." ? what does she mean ? there are too MUCH males in the movie ? Set in 1800s USA in a military FORT ?!?! Are you kidding me ???? And why is Carlyle have "to think about it "??!?!
Where is this clip taken from?
ONE OF THE BEST MOST UNDERRATED MOVIES CAST THE LOT ACE
My favorite soundtrack. And a damn good movie. Took me a couple of watches to really fall in love with it.
I just rewatched this a few nights ago. I can't say it's a good movie to be honest. Some of the lighting, dialogue, flow, editing are just 'TV Movie' feeling. However the performances by the ensemble cast and absolutely the soundtrack endear it to me and it's one of my favorite maybe not good movies movies ever.
Wonderful cannibal film, Robert Carlyle gave a magnificent performance.
🥳🥳🥳 lots of fun movie 🪓🪓🪓🪓
So glad I can finally find people to geek out over this movie with.
I watched this yeeears ago as it was the only dvd my mum had.. i was wagging school n smoking weed chucked this on and it blew my mind i love this movie
Antonia Bird is one of the most underrated directors ever. Ravenous is still the best cannibal movie ever and so much more!
3:25 oh my god he's right it's basically the same scene how did I never notice that
Everytime I hear Hail Columbia it bring me back to this movie
One of the most telling details that Fox didn't GAFF about this film: no one bothered to send even a small film crew to document the Nyman/Albarn recording sessions. There are stills, yes, but...this was a meeting of the minds that will quite frankly NEVER happen again...and nobody wanted to preserve it for posterity??? SMGDH. At least there IS the soundtrack.
I know right I can't even find interviews with Albarn about it. Such a travesty
After getting robbed, Begbie moved went and ate people.
Is this interview by the person who posted this vid? ta
Such a good movie. Robert Carlyle is so underrated.
Antonia Bird is the no.1 female British movie director, it's 2020 and she has never been bettered. RIP talented lady.
Freaking great performance from this guy
Scottish accent is very hard to me ...
“Did you eat her too?” “Well as a matter of fact.” “You’re disgusting!” Laughs
Wish I could meet Carlyle someday, I would praise him for Ravenous.
By far my favorite Western Frontier/ horror movie of all time.
I love this movie, really interesting video. Thanx!!!
An Excellent movie, beautifully made....and held together with the glue of great acting!
He was licking me!!!!!
Jesus mfng Christ! Here's a terrific actor (Carlyle) talking about the masterpiece of a movie that is Antonia Bird's Ravenous, and this idiot of an interviewer just had to come up with some "homoeroticism" that I personally have never noticed in this film, although I watched it thousands of times. DO YOU SICK F*CKS ALWAYS HAVE TO GAY THINGS UP?WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?
Ummm..dude, Robert Carlyle in this very video here full on admitted this to be his intention with the character Ives. He doesn't just want to eat Boyd...he wants to HAVE him as well. Like, if that makes you uncomfortable whatever, but he said what he said. Indisputable I'm afraid.
@@jorabohem My dear, let's not pretend as if Robert Carlyle had any other choice but saying, "Yes, of course. That's what it meant!" No one wants to get canceled and be thrown out of their profession. He would be, had he not answered correctly. We all know that. The interviewers have an agenda of making the rainbow shine everywhere. That man has a family to take care of. All he could do was laugh, as if someone just told him a joke. Nothing makes ME uncomfortable. Everyone has the right to live the way they want to. But this particular movie has nothing to do with homosexuality. Unless, of course, an idiot who gets paid for nothing else but asking actors potentially career-harming questions, decides otherwise.
Gran película!!!!! Gracias por compartirlo!!
Col Ives is probably my favorite villain
“SO ANNOYING!”
i usually don't like movies like this but i must admit i liked this ,
The last scene is amazing when he say that when I survive I will eat you but if you survive what you gona do?
The interviewer just had to add some feminist shit in the end.
What did she said? I can't understand her
Well I'm glad it wasn't my fault my brain was going 'you two should kiss!' all the way through the end..
Please, Robert! BE THE NEXT DOCTOR!!!
I don't remember this comment.😅 I stopped drinking now, 10 months ago, thank god. However, I would still stand behind this request. He would be so great on Doctor Who....
Maybe Antonia was just a ridiculously talented yaoi fan girl before yaoi was a thing.
I think the concept of yaoi was a thing long before it had an entry on tvtropes
Top 4 movie of my life!!
I had to watch this in two sittings because I felt myself getting fucked up and had to switch it off. Truly amazing work.
This is such an incredibly moving and awesome movie. It defies description and words can do it no justice. Like a deep meditation it requires two hours of your life with no phone, no food and no conversation. You will come out the other side utterly transformed.
Great movie and great casts too
why does mark cousins have to exaggerate his speach its so annoying
dornravlin Who is mark cousins?
Mark Cousins he a film critic hes the guy with the wily hair
the smell of meat,,,cooking,i thank the lord,i thank the lord.
And then things got out of hand...
Whenever I say the word 'cooking' - I'm American so I'm terrible at Scottish accents - I think of Robert Carlyle saying this line. His line deliveries are legendary in my book. The Beach is another film where he delivers lines that'll stick with me forever. "The big chunky Charlie"
havnt seen this in ages. I need to watch it again.
this was a weird ass movie.. but he's right, there were moments that really stood out.. to the point where i can't think of ANY movie that had those kinds of crazy moments that burrowed into my brain and pop up every now and again. almost like a kind of fever dream. so even though i never really *really* loved the movie, i find myself watching it every now and again because of its uniqueness. if a movie can be weird and crazy, that's often much more interesting to me than a lot of the "normal" movies out there. i like movies that you leave the theater going "wtf was that" but you can't stop thinking about it..
swish007 This movie was so evil to watch for me when i saw it first i was so afraid of the cave and what happened there i think i even had a nightmare about it once lol
But i love it
Ravenous for Robert.
What a great film and Robert Carlyle is one of my top 5 movie stars, his performance is amazing, movies such 28 weeks later when he turns into a zombie, Trainspotting and this film....great actor
This is my #1 favourite film. No joke. I seriously think it's the best movie ever made. Everything Bobby said about how beautiful, transcendent, and fun it is as "pure film" - is all true. Rest in power Antonia, you were brilliant. It also made me cry a bit to hear him confirm the film's homoeroticism as intentional @4:48 (even though it obviously is, but people tend to be blind to gay themes. It's especially obvious if you've listened to the commentary. Sorry the studio edited out your blood-licking mini-orgasm scene, Bobby.)
Oh fuck off ^
@honeyguts All of this just makes it even cooler that you have a badass Ravenous tattoo. This doesn't ruin the thing you love! It was there all along. It's just another layer of meaning and storytelling. It's crucial to the ending.... (spoilers ahead)... ... Right before Boyd pushes Ives into the bear trap, they look like they're about to kiss. That's not an accident. Boyd finally defeats Ives by pretending he is about to give in to him, both morally and carnally, which is why Ives lets Boyd push him to the ground. Ives says "that was... sneaky...." (ad-libbed by Robert Carlyle), acknowledging that Boyd defeated Ives by tempting Ives' desire for him. Then we pan out into that gorgeous painting-like shot of their corpses(?) lying in a fucked-up Romeo and Juliet cannibal embrace. Ives' attraction to Boyd was his weakness - like Hart says, "it's lonely being a cannibal".
Oh shit, you're right. I never really noticed that. I've only seen it like twice but it is one of my top 50 for sure.
Hi! Could you please tell me what Carlysle sais exactly about the homosexuality of his film? I don’t understand what he is saying sometimes in this interview...
@@nolween100 So, at 4:48... Interviewer: "And then, this sort of homoeroticism in the end..." Carlyle: "Yeah, oh yeah. What of that." (raises eyebrows, laughs) Interviewer: "... and through...(indecipherable). There's a lot of that. Is that... were you quite... were you talking about that? Or..." Carlyle: "So I certainly doubt that Ives(?)..." (laughs and starts over) "I was looking at that from the very beginning. I thought, oh he's not just wantin' to eat Guy Pearce, he's gonna HAVE Guy Pearce at the same time."
Bobby is so precious!!!
Thank you so much for posting this for those of us who can't see the documentary about Antonia. Hoping if there are clips for Priest and Face .... ????
