Mr. Grosvenor is a musician of the highest order. There are no "perfect" performances of this piece. I have performed it dozens of times. I will tell you that very few can prevent such convincing musical vision and integrity as Benjamin does here.

This organ contains 9,997 pipes, as confirmed in the restoration by Mander in 2002-04, so I'm not sure where you got your number from.

Incredible as usual
I admire (and envy) the fervor of Elgar's faith, just as I do Handel's. The wonders they produced are testimony to some spiritual inspiration.
Best composers had faith
However by the time he composed this piece, his faith was on the wane. He died believing that there was no afterlife, only oblivion.
We don't know that for sure, he questioned, which is not unusual, but to say he died without belief is an all encompassing statement. There were other factors at play too when he had his crisis of faith, but who knows the inner workings of another man's thinking?
@@matineemartyr38 I read, that he said to his doctor, that he had no faith in an afterlife, only oblivion.
His faith as shown in his music is deep and sincere. No one knows the exchange between man and God at the end. Best not to speculate.
This is an absolutely brilliant rendition of the Tchaikovsky's classic.

15:34 brought me here. And not from what you older viewers expect. It actually was used in a game known as Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack In Time. It's a really funny moment whenever you fire this weapon (the RYNO V, or "Rip You a New One 5") and this song starts blasting as you fire
