Charlie, Rony, and Ted are out in full force to greet the world's foremost tech consultant and professor Shelly Palmer, CEO of the Palmer Group. We hit the news quickly, Perplexity raises $500M at a $9B valuation, ChatGPT under assault, AI's coming "clean." Our wide ranging conversation with Shelley was focused on some important trends in AI and XR, and especially the long process of integrating AI into company workflow. It's going to take time and training, perhaps more than five years for that to be happy, Shelly said. Other 2024 events we looked back on: the ongoing AI revolution, the crypto run up, agentic AI, the possible TikTok ban, AI & XR, and the end of the media business as we k...

Hi , I observed your RUclips Channel “This Week In XR” and analyzed that your content qualities are great but the problem is that you are not getting views because of 9 problems, like 1. Non-SEO friendly Title 2. Non-SEO-friendly Descriptions 3. Non-SEO-friendly Ranked Tags 4. Non-Algorithm Friendly Content 5. SEO Score 47 out of 100 6. Overall score 28.8 Out of 100 7. Social Engagement "Bad" 8. Video and Thumbnail Metadata are Missing 9. Video Optimization Problem If you are interested in solving those problems, please contact me. I will grow your channel to 3-4x its current size and give you the best results. Thanks
Alternative video title: "Three guys who didn't actually watch Dan's videos at all discuss the most basic attributes of crypto and the metaverse that Dan addressed laboriously in each video". Ted and Rony kept throwing out arguments that Dan explicitly addressed *at length* in his videos, and clearly had enough investment in the topic that had they gone and *watched* the video they might have a word doc of responses to some of Dan's assertions to engage some actual novel conversation. Since they didn't actually do the homework before the guest came on, then rather than looking like informed advocates for the technology, Ted and Rony just looked oblivious.
Thanks again for having me on!
Excellent conversation. Liam is once again doing amazing things. He knows the ins and outs of how to get things done.
Liam is a genius!
Indeed!! Lucky to have him on the show :)
That's insane! Nice lemming!
Hi
What's great about Stell is that he knows life as well as VR.
I have no fear of being attacked from behind out in the real wilderness because it rarely happens. I do fear being hit from behind in an HMD because it is a well established game dynamic. It would just take one jerk programmer to add a silent attack from behind as an "fun' feature while I'm on my infinite desktop.
Awesome! Great to see lemming here!
another great podcast and congrats TWIXR on your milestone!
Thank you for having me on such a fun podcast! Live from AWE! -Jenni
Mentioning and explaining the Osborne effect is probably not the best option to avoid the Osborne effect.
17:23
Good convo, can't wait to hear the episode after AWE next week!
😡 Promo>SM
great insights, really nice conversations, and info - well done, all!
Thanks for having us on!
"promosm" 🤣
Great episode, as always. Just a quick comment on Sora and how generative AI will effect Hollywood... There have definitely been many tremors across the film industry caused by recent generative AI developments, but I believe the real "Magnitude 8.0" moment will be measured by when an unregulated country, such as China, unleashes a full feature length AI generated sequel to an American blockbuster film, that is indistinguishable from what the real studio would have created. And I believe that moment may occur within 2 years. "Hold onto your butts".
Fun to see you all together here! (And that fruit plate looks delicious...)
It's wonderful to see you together!
Oh this episode was too short! Great guest and topics. Thank you.
Can’t tell you how much I love this show! ❤ While I completely agree with Rony’s premise at the beginning of the show, it’s a slippery slope… as how do you contend with the propaganda and misinformation from within, which I’d debate, at the moment, is a more pressing concern. Again, you guys just continue to raise the bar and the level at which we all think about XR! Best podcast on the subject hands down! Bravo! 👏
53:20 Wait, Rony doesn't know what crypto is? It's not just digital money using encryption. It's a very specific kind of algorithm that banks don't use to track your money.
44:50 Wait, Ted doesn't know what Internet and World Wide Web is?
I wouldn't call the product of algorithmical combination of different pieces of art "original art."
Dan is a class act; I appreciate you guys having someone so passionate and technical on to talk about some of these interactions with tech and social effects
Thank you for the support!! It’s important to talk about these things :)
These 3 are brain rot fools, good to not listen to them. They are wrong and doesn't even understand the subject matter to truly make a opinion on it and it sounds like they have personal investments into this scam so that is why they aren't into clearing up anything regarding this topic.
Not sure I agree with the "torso and the tail" comment - as AI is replacing the middle 98% with arguably good enough content...
The guy talking about the under lying layer of block chain being important must be super non technical and is profoundly wrong. The underlying structure is a interesting spinning doodad. It has no importance to anything else because it's layers of different common algorithms joined together to pretend to be a currency. It's much too clunky for a practical use. Dan seems more technical and charismatic then these sets of people. These other guys seem like random old men. edit: That other joker is calling interact direct a crypto currency. god damn this is a boomer podcast who knows shit all about technology.
Thanks for another great video and podcast. Great timing too, I actually re-watched "War Games" just last week... one of my all time favourite movies 😀
Another fascinating conversation. Am I the only one who thinks its better to watch this than listen? 🙂
Is there a part 2 coming? Zak was cutoff at the end. I'd imagined myself a filmmaker at one point so this was a really engaging conversation - thanks!
I just can't get over the fact that that they keep getting the NFT video title wrong in both the interview and the description. The hosts honestly sounded pretty condescending at some points, especially Rony.
They're also wrong on basic facts. They are very much out of touch old men talking about the new fangled internet. What ever their expertise is, it's not podcasts or tech.
One of my fav episodes so far. Well done, all.
I fight lamia in Elder Scrolls - agree with Dan - very cool creatures.
I have been on a real kick with Dan's content and I have especially enjoyed his interviews. I love this interview and love how this was closer to a debate than a discussion in spots. I especially appreciate you guys for doing this. You guys seem respectful and personable. Keep up the great work!
Great interview with a kind, exuberant, passionate XR founder !
Unity and AI whic must be one of the news stories this week.
I’ve been waiting for you guys to do this episode for years, sorry Charlie couldn’t make it. Of all the opinions out there yours was the one I was waiting for.
Amazing content. One q. Is the VID of a hologram much higher than of a display Glasses?
Sorry, not sure I understand your question..?
I find it so interesting that for the past few weeks, This Week in XR has HAD to confront the elephant in the room, and has been more like This Week in AI.
Time will only tell if that will be joined into our title in the future, lol
Also Ted. Sorry to hear about your surgery and I’m glad you seem to be doing well
Thank you!
The problem is the ceos and their fragile ego trying to keep proprietory over their tech. But all it does is hurt them in the long run with the direction we are going. Especially with this strike. It’s time. Let’s do it.
It is a shame that things like you say, such as the ego, keep us from all working together!
Great minds. Respect. But content format not very engaging here e.g. *) Channel & video description | *) No visuals to engage. Happy to share more
