When you’re young, it’s like walking on a layer of snow resting on a cloud. Behind you are your parents, family, and friends, supporting you, keeping you steady on that snow. If they’re wise and caring, they help you stay balanced so you don’t fall into the vast sky below. And when it’s time for them to let go, the most insightful ones leave you with either a material parachute or a mental one, something to catch you so you can land safely, in mind and body. But often, as kids, we don’t recognize this support. We land abruptly, sometimes even crash. Later, when we look back, we see the endless blue sky, hear the sound of the wind, feel the pure, untouched air above the clouds. We realize we once walked on that snow, unaware of the clouds beneath it and the support that kept us standing. Everything seemed bright, sunlit, effortless. Only with time do we understand that those moments were fleeting, like a dream. So many young people, lost in their dreams and goals, keep reaching for that blue sky, unaware of the passing time.
