Hello My name is Jose, I have a fairly new 461 cordless heat detector tester. My tester after replacing the battery, goes from green to red why is this? I always make sure to use fully charged batteries. Your help will be really appreciated.
My battery says its charged (Green) but when I put it in the tester, its dead. Need to replace? I'm not sure of the battery age in question.
We have a few of these that get stuck, like the springs stop working. Can we fix these? They are the SOLO 330 devices. It keeps happening.
Using a solo duster might also help with clearing smoke

What if the detector does not reach the threshold of the sensor?
If the heat detector tester does not have the heat output required to activate the heat detector sensor threshold, the detector will not activate. It is important that you use the correct heat tester according to the heat detector class to be tested. Heat detector testers manufactured by detectortesters (includes Solo and Testifire) are designed to test UL heat detectors that have a temperature class of Low/Ordinary and Intermediate. For European (EN) heat detectors that is Class A/B and C. The higher heat detector activation class (intermediate for UL and Class C for EN) typically have an activation temperature above 194F (90C). Testifire can test detectors up to 212F (100C) Please keep in mind that the ambient temperature (in the protected area) can have an impact on the ability to test a heat detector as a low ambient temperature can mean that it is not possible for the tester to reach the activation temperature.
Will this work on residential detectors that are more flat?
The Testifire test cup can accommodate a maximum diameter detector or alarm up to just over 5 inch's or 130mm. The maximum depth 2.6" (66mm). This means that it can test residential alarms that have diameters less than the above.
How many tests can one smoke cartridge do?
Up to 250 x 30 second tests
Using the latest firmware and ES3 capsules it should be possible to achieve 250 x 30 second tests. If the average test time is longer than 30 seconds the number of tests goes down.

Can you specify approx. how many sensors can be test by using one A5 aerosol Can?
Solo A5 is specifically designed to be used within a Solo 330 and 332 dispenser and if used according to our instructions typically around 200 test can be obtain. Please note: that there are a number of factors that can reduce the number of activations from a Solo smoke canister, such as ambient temperature; detector integrating time (time to alarm) and how dirty/contaminated the detector is. How many time approximately can 1 smoke capsule be used?
Is there any product available to remove the detector by pressing the notch? As there are some detectors, you have to press the lock, then rotate it to remove. Kindly advice for EST3 detectors.
The Siga EST3 has an anti-tamper lock (tamper-resist lever arm), which is usually used when the detector is mounted on a low ceiling to stop removal of the detector. When installed out of normal arms reach the manufacturer's instructions recommend that the plastic tamper-resist lever (in the base of the detector) is removed (before installation of the detector) which will disable the anti-tamper feature. If the detector has the tamper-resist device fitted, the only way to disengage the lock is to gain access to the detector and use a suitable implement into the access slot to dis-engage the lock. We don’t manufacturer any removal tool that would allow dis-engagement of the lock via a removal tool and Solo height access pole.
Is there a tip for removing a detector from a dropped ceiling? As we see in the video the tile itself pushes up.
I used this tester. Unfortunately, it's best for high profile electronic heat detectors. The heat element is at a fixed height within the unit and it blows across a small area. Low profile heat detectors tend to blow the disks when used... not good for 281-C, TD-135... the MIR-601 will activate by hand heat... the 5601A blows at an alarming rate. I have been migrating away from the flame less butane and looking at a pencil type battery operated heat "wand". That way I can distribute the heat fast and evenly over the surface of the device. I find it more effective for testing and I don't damage them like the "one size fits all" concept in the video. A good modification to this tool would be to have the heat source be adjustable to be more effective.

For the CO detector, Ul standards have home detectors set to go off at 400ppm in 5-15 minutes. In this video you wait only 10 seconds for it to go off. Are these a different type of CO monitor or ?

How to clean the solo 330 and 332
I have this model of solo heat detector tester. I once used it and after which when i connect the battery baton and press the red switch, No green blinking light comes up. The battery baton is fully charged and it doesnt give a blink when connected to heat detector tester. What could be wrong ?
