I bought the same bike a week ago. I made a few upgrades. I'll do a video next week. I also subscribed!
Thanks, send me your link I would be interested in seeing it.
@@jamescarioti390 Will do Brother!
if you get a chance get a deraillure with a clutch if you rip hard or do drops otherwise the narrowwide is good enough
Okay, you mentioned that you're in Central FL, which has flat terrain. I'm up in PA near the Poconos, so hills are a fact of life here. Between the hills, my arthritic knees, and my age, I NEED a granny gear! I need some low gears to climb the hills here. 5% grades are a dime a dozen around here, and I don't have to look hard for steeper climbs. One of the bike paths I ride has 12%-15% grade; it's steep. I have a MicroShift AdventX 1x10 drivetrain on my Marin Kentfield 2. It has a 38 tooth chainring up front, and it has a 11-48 ten speed cassette out back. I have 22-96 gear-inches of range, which is more than adequate. The gears are nicely spaced too. If I had to, I could get by with a Shimano CUES 1x9 system on a MTB with 26" wheels. If I were to use a 40 tooth crank up front and their 11-46 9 speed cassette on the rear wheel, that would give me 23-95 gear-inches of range. That said, my personal minimum would be a 1x10 drivetrain on a 1x system.
I also ride part of the year in Northern NY. My other bike is a Trek Marlin 6 with a 1x10 need the the extra gears for the hills.
@@jamescarioti390 so you're a Snowbird, then? NY State is BEAUTIFUL in the summer time! The Trek Marlin 6 is a nice ride... :)
If I were to convert a MTB from a 3x to 1x drivetrain, I'm swapping out the cassette too; unless you have flat terrain, the existing 7 speed cogset simply won't offer enough range. I myself would install a 10 speed cassette with 11-48 or 11-50 range if I changed over to a 1x system.
