Late for Church 4k YT
My son and I taught a film workshop for Masterpiece Christian Arts ‘Ascend’ conference. I wrote this little script about a pastor and his wife arguing before church, when there's a knock at the door. Thursday in class we discussed film making concepts, broke down the script and gathered props. Friday we shot it as a short film with the students as crew members. Saturday we had just a few hours to edit the video (with student participation) for the Saturday night premier. We had to let a lot of technical concerns go to meet the deadline, but it was a ton of fun.

Digging through the archives, I found this music video I directed for the Christian band 'The Kry' back in 2005. Talented guys - part of this was shot in 70mph gale force winds on the Oregon Coast. Other online versions are not so sharp, quality wise (it was shot standard definition back in the day), so I thought I'd upload a little better version.

David Spunger: Godly husband, father, musician, talented worship leader, friend... those words don’t even begin to describe this man who went to heaven Feb. 11, 2015. I was honored to be asked to create a short film in memory of David, and was quite emotionaly / spiritually moved by the experience. Originally it was played at David's memorial service on 3.8.2015. It’s just over 12 minutes long,...
Michael W. Smith-I Miss the Way
Просмотров 56 тыс.13 лет назад
1988 (Best Music Video) Dove award winner - Michael W. Smith song about a Christian who was at one time a mentor to Michael in the faith, but has now fallen away and lost his faith.
3 years after my last post... nicest guy ever teaching on youtube....not to mention best player, best singer.. we miss you David, your talent, your heart 💙🙏🏼
It's 2024, and it's with a heavy heart that I've only just learned of David's passing today. Today, on a whim, I found myself thinking of him and typed his name into the search bar, hoping to find any new content he might have shared. David was an unparalleled inspiration to me. Back in college, I would spend countless hours absorbed in his RUclips videos, completely mesmerized by his unique ability to teach and clearly convey his lessons. He had a remarkable gift for making music approachable for beginners and professionals. I'm holding onto his courses, hoping to share them with my young children someday, so they too can experience the magic of his teachings. Thank you, David, for the indelible mark you've left on our hearts and minds.
Once a true believer Once there was a fire in your soul You were the epitome of blessed faith astir With thirst for holiness And hunger for the Word Now you move in other circles To the beat of different drums And I see only glimpses of the one you used to be The inspiration that you were to me' I miss the way His love would dance within your eyes I miss the way His heart was the soul of your life And somewhere in the saddest part of heaven's room Our Father sheds a tear for you He's missing you, too Some are calling you a prodigal Some aren't calling you at all But far away someone is calling you back home Do you hear it anymore out there on your own I miss the way His love would dance within your eyes I miss the way His heart was the soul of your life And somewhere in the saddest part of heaven's room Our Father sheds a tear for you He's missing you, too Once a true believer Once there was a fire in your soul You were the epitome of blessed faith astir With thirst for holiness And hunger for the Word Now you move in other circles To the beat of different drums And I see only glimpses of the one you used to be The inspiration that you were to me
It's not too late
O the sad sad irony of this autobiographical admission of his own life of pure deception!
🙄 (eye roll)
Very nice song 🎵 👌
Subtittles: please. Thanks.
David Sprunger was a mentor for me ! RIP amigo
Today, Jul 16th, 2023, so many years passed since David's going to heaven, and still he lives in our memories and in our Hearts... Thank you LORD for his life!! God bless his wife and his family!! José & Family from PARAGUAY 🇵🇾
Somewhere sometime some of us were once true believers and we strayed away from the fold of righteousness and safely because out on the other side the grass looked greener but that is how the world makes it seem the world of sin and immorality and although you are out there in all those wrong places doing what you know inside of you us not right and inside you you are just going along to fit in and all the while God is speaking inside of you telling you I have so much more for I love you,I have already prepared for you everything beyond what you could ever think or ask the Broadway may look good but destruction is at the end of that road the straight and narrow road lead to life eternal and when you are on the narrow path you have to be careful how you go ,I know what I am talking about and I want anyone that may be reading this to know Jesus is watching and waiting in the shadows for you he understands what you are going through and he watching every day for your return and is arms is waiting to embrace you it doesn't matter how you look or how far you have gone or what you have done JESUS LOVES YOU HE HAS ALREADY PROVEN IT BY DYING FOR ALL THE WHOLE WORLD SIN.
This song and video is "Phenomenally Powerful and Thought-provoking! God's Gospel message comes across very clearly in this song and video. The scenes are very real a d effective at telling the story if the backslidder and how it effects others.
What a true, powerful and sobering song to reminds to pray and reach out to the backslidden with the love of God.
i dont know David personally...but i was sad to know he's gone .. but i'm happy .. he is in the Lord's hand and worshipping God...i've learned a lot of piano technique by watching his video and use it for the glory of God...Thanks bro David for sharing your knowledge...and looks like your still playing ..using the knowledge you shared in all of us who watch you and teaching us through your video ...
Miss this version of MWS. I2Eye to me is his best album.
Shouldve been very famous!! If more people heard 😔
Just learned of David’s passing today. I did not know David. But I can tell from the lessons that he was a great man, teacher, and father. I still always think of him when I play the piano, and always will. I hope his family is well, and knows that they are in the thoughts and prayers of many many people around the globe, even though we don’t even know them. Thank you for sharing David with us for so many years. :(

amazing! good job directing the video> I love it so much!
I can't subscribe - I don't want to break the 777.
Johny from broken cedars?
I love this song. It's so moving and I can absolutely think of a time in my life when my friends were praying this song about me. Thank God for my friends not giving up until I came home!
I returned here because the song came back to me earlier this morning. I found myself humming the tune; and wondered if it were ever written down in an easy-to-play arrangement for piano/keyboard. I found one online, in the key of G; but the price seemed quite high (for just the one song); plus it was encumbered with a lot of restrictive DRM. 🤔 So I came here to just listen to it. Although the melody and background instrumentation isn't quite the way I recalled/heard it (in my "mind's ear"), I think I can figure this one out on my own... It's a song that lends itself well to improvisation. 🎤🎶🎹😎
You still interested in the chords?
Jesus please help me not to miss the way..
So this explains a lot about David Sprunger to me. I experienced David through his wonderful piano course, and the video clips related to that course here on RUclips . What always struck me about David through the piano course were two things, 1. What an amazing gifted piano keyboard player, and teacher, and 2. What a nice man and decent human being he was. I was shocked when I saw the video he made where he and Jenny were letting us know about his health situation What a beautiful person... He lives on I’m sure in many ways through all of the lives I know that he touched.... and he lives on for me personally every time I practice his piano course and hear his voice, see his face, and listen to his incredible ability and instruction We are all blessed to have him in our lives
Learned of his death only today and I am so saddened. Bought the full course and was taught well by it. Still have the disks but sadly lost the book. David I will never forget you!! Student in Cape Town, South Africa.
A close friend of mine, we use to go out spreading the word of God together. He use to always express to others how much he loved Jesus. Now, it is as if he never met the Lord. I actually started to cry while listening to this song. I will be praying for him again tonight.
As will I. I hope God will draw your friend back to genuine repentance and faith in Him.
@@josephadams2378 Thank you.
I will be praying as well. This comment was 8 months ago and I pray he has come back to the Lord. Amen.
One of the best songs on one of the best albums ever. If MWS made another i 2 eye album I would be a big fan of his again. He kinda lost me somewhere in the early 90's
Could you explain why? Did Michael's music change? if so, in what way? or....?
@@ThatClassic70sGirl yes it did change just a bit but mostly I changed and his music never quite impacted me the same as eye 2 i did. Not his fault though, he is still good through the years, just a different dynamic. Part of growing up I guess
Please allow me to politely say, There is not a singer more talented with performing, playing, connecting to those spiritually inclined. This is a man of God and regardless of what he performs, he communicates the gospel of love, peace, and the Spiritual gift of Reconciliation. I was saved because of a song the Holy Spirit sang through Michael W. Smith. This song is the gospel!!! Romans 1:16-17
I think you're sorely mistaken regarding Smith. You obviously have no discernment. The faith the bible talks about is the faith of Jesus Christ, imputed-given to us, we have no faith, no NOTHING of ourselves, it's all God. This 'song' is confusing, and the bible says God is not of confusion but of peace. You can never 'fall away' from Jesus, because it is he and he alone who holds you firmly, unshakable. If this song is saying you can lose salvation, well, that's another lie. in Hebrews Jesus says, I will never leave thee nor forsake thee. Once you're saved, and all of that is of God, and God alone, you're God's for ever, there's nothing you or any force or anything that can ever separate you from God. - Romans 8:38, 39 -cambridge king james bible-the ONLY divinely preserved Word of God for english, see: avpublications.com And that part in scripture where it talks about 'then some of his/Jesus' disciples left him', those people were never Jesus' chosen disciples, they were never his, and Jesus said to his disciples, 'will ye also leave me?' to which one of the disciples replied, 'To where will we go, Lord? You have the words of eternal life'. All those who are truly Christ's were chosen by God the Father before the foundation of the world to be saved by Jesus, -Ephesians chapter 1. Election and Predestination are biblical. Jesus' real sheep know his voice, and follow only him, and will not follow a stranger, scripture says. They can never be lost, Jesus said himself of all the Father gives him, he loses none. So scores of people twist scripture, are deceived, take out of context scripture, so this 'song' leaves an unclear message. The truth is that once you're saved, you're saved for ever, regardless of sin, what state you're in, you're God's for ever, and nothing can ever change that. It's God who saves you and God who keeps you, and your very faith itself is not your own, it's from God. 'Works salvation', striving, working, etc. anything you 'do', is/are all lies. God does it all.
@@heyfromdave5108 Right on brother. Romans 11. I believe your argument is valid; however, the song is about pre-transformation. Michael W. Smith is a Fufil fledged Sovereign Grace Believer. Listen to the song Sovereign. I believe the Election of Grace.
@@lancenashrpcga8140 I may listen to the song, if the Lord wills, but a song doesn't make a person this or that, see what they say, what comes out of their mouth - I have never seen any personal statement of faith from Smith, he hardly if ever even quotes scriptures, and when he does, it's in an arrogant way-he's not a humble person, he's a jackass. People call him 'smitty', it's all a 'Jesus Clique' of unsaved people, I call him 'Shitty', there's so much wrong there with him. Can God use him? sure, God uses turds, he uses anything and everything for his Will, plan and purposes, God creates evil, God uses evil, God is not evil, but he uses and controls evil, he controls Satan, everyone and everything answers to God and is accountable to him. Is Smith born again in Jesus? I doubt it, I wish I could give him the test given in the bible to see if someone is saved or not, I suppose I could pray and ask the Father through Jesus if smith is saved or not, born again in Jesus. You talk about a 'song' 'Sovereign', well, it just like the words of God in the bible, they are holy Words, the very words of God, God-breathed by the Holy Ghost, so they are alive, but to those not born again in Jesus, they're just words on a page. They have no power unless God gives them power.
@@lancenashrpcga8140 pre-transformation???? you wanna give me scriptures for that?
@@heyfromdave5108 If you believe in the election of grace Romans 11:5 then you know when our transformation began, Ephesians 1:3-4 before the foundations of the world. You only responded to the gospel of grace through faith in Jesus Christ because you were in him before time began. You responded to the gospel because it was God’s will, Ephesians 1:11, James 1:18, John 1:13. Our will does not transform us, It’s God’s grace and Will. When were you transformed? If you say upon your salvation or some would say confession, How is that working for you? Do you live the transformed life? Positional We already live this life, and I believe you, my dear brother do to. In practice, we fall short. But John 17:2 we were already elected and therefore we heard as sheep our Shepherd. Romans 6:1-4 we died with Christ and rose again in Christ. I am an infralapsarian.

Stayed awake tonight to follow his lessons.... Wow! I ordered his lessons in 2009 and I still have this discs. So I went in search of him. Kept wondering why the website was shutting down until now.... Maybe it doesn't have to shutdown.... I'm sure generations unborn can still follow his lessons and his family enjoy rewards of his IP. Gush! Well done Legend! Good night David.
RIP ♥️
Nice hair
He was my friend. We played music, and ping pong.... And somebody said "mofloppin." God's love David.... We'll see you on the other side.
Beautiful ❤️. Love Jean Luc's music and gift. Such a blessing.
Sent here by Grant! Bahahahaha! Love it! Grant you sound like Dan Akyroyd! Funny as hell.
He does! Brilliant stuff. I wonder if the Rogue Valley Mall is still around?
Although I never met David in real life, his piano videos were enough to convey his softness, sensitivity and passion and make him a person you'll never forget. The fact that I entered his name in youtube today, 10 years after buying his videos, proves that he's hard to forget. I learned a lot from him. His passing really touches me.
Oh god I just got out his program after years off due to loss and heartache. God bless him and his family and children. I will practice with a sad heart tonight. RIP David.
8 years ago, I took some lessons from David, and just learned about this tragedy today, just choking and want to say thank you, Jc
I imagine Joshua Harris' friends relate to this song
Amen! 📖✝️🙏 *
P.S. Let's hope and pray that Joshua (and Shannon) _themselves_ will one day relate to it. 🙏
Nice song! I tagged along with the school ensemble when they went on tour back in the late 80's and that was one of the songs they sang.
Can you actually sing this Spanish translation to the original tune?
Christianity in its purest form is about a relationship, not a religion. God actually wants a real, honest to goodness relationship with you. That separates us from all the other religions. No other religion offers the intimacy of Christianity. Jesus said " I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you."
I knew David years ago at COS. We played together quite a bit. I played sax with him. I knew him when he and his wife were still just dating. I haven't seen or talked with him for a very long time but knew him to be a really great guy and a man who genuinely loved God! I'm embarrassed to say I just found out about his passing and am very saddened. Great video made me cry. Even though its been a few years now I hope and pray his beautiful family have found peace with Jesus. If we've received Jesus, we'll all get to be in heaven. Maybe I'll get to play along side him again for the glory our Lord. Lance
I wanted to listen to it, quite hard to google it, but finally I did it, Danke. Grosse vom Costa Rica..
si, cuesta escuchar esta banda, ni siquiera esta en spotify
I just recently purchased David's lessons. I was so moved by his beautiful voice and personality that I had to look him up and I found this video. I wanted to thank him for the course. I walk away from this video with these thoughts: first giving honor to God, thanking God that He gave us David, and rejoicing in that fact that David is still giving three years after going home. I never met you on this side but somehow I feel I know you. See you in the morning.
Faith, like When I was as a child, is what I long for every day of my life, thank you Lord for loving me and sending Jesus, my best friend forever, amen
I am deeply sorry to know today that David is gone and I am deeply happy to know that he is with The Lord our savior Jesus Christ...My prays and thoughts are going to his family ....Last thing, I will honor his memory by become the best man and keyboard player I can be...Franck Voitier
