DR650GarageMechanic
Добавлен 13 мар 2017
Welcome! This channel is dedicated to working on the mighty Suzuki DR650. I will upload content related to mechanical issues, repairs, maintenance, product reviews and rides I take on my DR. I am in no way a certified mechanic, but I have years of garage mechanics under my belt and want to help as many people as I can with their DR650.

DR650 AZBDR Adventure with my brothers
Просмотров 5357 лет назад
I took a six day trip on the Arizona Backcountry Discovery Route (AZBDR) with my brothers. We started the BDR in Winona, AZ and finished at the Utah border. Unfortunately, my DR650 lost compression and the motor destroyed itself three days in to the trip. I brought the DR home in a Uhaul and it is getting a 790 kit soon!

Просмотров 24 тыс.7 лет назад
In this video, I show you how to install a jet kit on the carb, but also make some modifications to help make it run better. I must thank all of the people at DRRIDERS.com for showing me this method and helping my bike gain some more power.
1996 Suzuki DR650: Installing Cyclops LED Headlight bulb
Просмотров 4,2 тыс.7 лет назад
In this video, I walk through the steps of installing a Cyclops H4 3800 Lumen Low/High Bead LED bulb on a 1996 DR650. The install takes about 10 minutes. The bulb uses significantly less power, so I can add some accessory lights without over taxing my charging system. I ordered the light through Procycle.us. A huge shoutout to Procycle for always having what I need. Update I made a mistake in c...

1996+ Suzuki DR650: Bypassing the clutch safety switch
Просмотров 8 тыс.7 лет назад
If your bike recently has recently stopped working and pushing in the starter button will not allow the bike to crank, this is one of the easiest fixes on the DR650. Disclaimer: Bypassing this switch could result in injury, as it will now allow you to start your bike while in gear, without pulling in the clutch. You must perform this at your own risk. This bypass is helpful for trail riders as ...
Also, is there a way to replace the US spec OEM float boat with an overseas one that has the Overflow tube in it? I think this us design is ridiculous and the first time in my life after having 30 motorcycles, I had this stored over the summer, got this bike started again while running the float stuck open, flooded into the engine, filled the crankcase with gasoline, and pumped it into the air box so mixed gasoline and oil went all over the floor. All because it didn't have a float Bowl fuel overflow
What is the unused threaded hole for in the bottom of the float Bowl? They seem to all have this and I can't find anything out about it
Dude that looks like a simple fall going up that hill and it looks like it took out your old bush pig what happened did you break something on the throttle and that's the wrong side I don't know why but thanks for making these videos that I appreciate the carburetor one
You should always go to RUclips first for a Dr650 problem! It would of saved me a considerable amount of consternation and time. Anyways, thank you very much!
I reused the stock spacer trimmed to "D" shape on top the clip so there is no side loading on the needle. I think this comes with the new procycle kit and is not included in the JD kit I brough.
I have this same light on the same bike. I've noticed when I point it at a wall or garage door, the horizontal plane of the image projected is crooked, a little low on the right. Now, I know the bulb only goes in one way so it's not an adjustment issue. And it's totally fine on high beam. Do you notice this on yours? What to do????
Thanks very much for the tutorial.... a good idea and necessary if you want to use the three finger Warp9 levers.
Thank you
So, the dr650 carb is Mikuni BST40. Do you know what the Mikuni model is for the DR250s (1990-1994)?
I have read that these modifications cause accelerated wear on the carb internals . . ?
That seems likely. Just don’t drill the slide or cut the spring. I’ve rejetted mine without doing that and it runs fine. I’ve got videos on my channel.
Nice scenery! what make/model windshield is that? Doesn't look like the mounting arms interfere with the brake line as does my ancient MRA. Thanks!
Is it the same for a dr350?
You omitted to change the pilot jet
that scratched cowl decal looks cool
The new light might be brighter but the range sucks because the bulb is in the wrong location in the light bucket.,.....That was a waste of money and time.
The instruction is appreciated but the photos are very dark and it's difficult to see the details.
DUDE! Thank u so much for this video! my new DR 650 was doing this. Stalling at red lights and stop signs. CAN I GIVE U A HUG! lol
IT WORKED!!!!
It’s led not hid
Yeah the guy doesn't know sh1t... He thinks just because it's brighter it's better. The light spread sucks
Thanks, Thanks, Thanks. My clutch safety switch failed in the "off" mode after I dropped by bike, and you guys got me back on the road again. Now I'm going to check out the rest of your videos. Thanks again...
Did you not re use the rubber boot?
Answered my question on what to do with that stock rubber boot... nothing. I know how to do that. Put it in the tool box with the factory headlight (properly protected) in case of LED failure.
You should be able to seperate the LED bulb from the plate that clips into the headlight. Then you just clip the plate in, put the boot on then fit the led bulb.
Not a single video on the net mentions removing the little switch & wires on the right hand side of the carb that is pressed in on full throttle, it's damn near impossible to remove. I think this is Australian only cos I don't find the item on partzilla
May be so. That is your rev limiter switch I believe your’re reffering to. Have not seen those on U.S DR’s
Nice! Thanks for the five minute escape. God I miss riding by the coastline whenever I felt like it. :/
EXCELLENT and Simple instruction.
thank you for your time.
Great video! Subbed.
Another good free one is to take off the exhaust header then grind and smooth the welds on the inside of the flange where it connects to the cyl head. Suzuki should have made the welds on the outside of the exhaust flange since it chokes airflow
Nice, most people butcher the loom. This is easy and neat. Thanks for taking the time to make the vid.
Great video! I'm going to do this. Thanks much!
What happened to the DR?
THX
Thank you for making and sharing this. Thank you for the effort.!
Looking forward to your next videos! Thanks!
which campground were you by? these trails look awesome
Best video I’ve seen on this process. I’m tackling it tomorrow, so thanks for posting this.
Man I was hoping for like 100 videos I really enjoy these Good job
Doug Rhine thank you! I will make some more soon, including a DR790 install and a Tm40 pumper carb rebuild
I added this to my DR 6 months ago. The fan stopped working 3 months in, now the high beam is dimmer than the low.
Thanks For the Heads up I was thinking about putting one on my DR And was wondering about the fan Situation How long does it last ???? the bulb lasts almost forever
Chris Day did you contact Cyclops? Assuming you used an actual Cyclops brand bulb, they stand by their product and would make this right. I’ve had two of these on my Triumph for 2 years now with zero problems.
Clam a warranty.I never hesitate, remind them there was nothing wrong with your dollars.
Excellent!
The baby cameos are the best
luv jalama beach it was so green this year
nice walk through but it is NOT a HID beam it is a LED bulb. don't get them confused.
Thank you Mike. It is an important distinction. I will try to make some updates to the video.
