as a matter of fact, this was requested of me from someone trying to get the english version and we both were trying to figure out how to extract it. As you can hear, the english is underneath the polish narration. If you can figure out how to separate the two, you would be a hero

Here is the problem with AI video cleaning, as someone who's upscaled hundreds and hundreds of hours of different types of videos on my other channel, this is my expertise talking: in order to truly remaster a video in HD and clean it using these new tools, you have to experiment with each and every single shot separately. *Every shot.* And each time you move the dials it's sometimes hours to get the settings exactly right. I don't think there's a way around it. While I actually am the kind of person to do that, it's unrealistic. Especially not for an entire series of a show. So eventually I and many others like me who have this hobby realized, the only way i'm upscaling my collection of video is finding the best medium settings that do the least amount of damage, hitting render on the whole thing and crossing my fingers and hoping for the best. So that's why you're seeing some great results and some mediocre results, and imo, some terrible results. Some results are so bad I rerender just those messed up shots. I did it just yesterday for Who's in the Kitchen. But mostly I have to let that go otherwise I'll spend literally months per episode trying to get it right. Even a perfectionist like me, I have to let lots of things go or it will never get done. A bunch of the episodes I have up right now I want to take down and redo because of how bad some of the shots are. But I'm just going to forget about it. I'm AI cleaning because the surviving footage is awful. I could keep it at 480 but if I'm going through the trouble of cleaning it I might as well export at 1080 if it looks that good. All that digital compression is also not how it aired originally. We'll never get that back. That smooth 30fps video quality off tv, I want that back. We'll never get it. So the best bet is cleaning it. At least that's closer to how nice it was on tv back in the 80s. My decision to dub some of the voices over with AI, at least a few of them, was purely an exercise. I did all of Euphonius, but that was just me learning the system. I have plans to just release it in French or Spanish and subtitle it. I'm usually a slave to restore things exactly the way they were. That's why in a lot of upcoming episodes I just subtitle them, because while Euphonius was a fun exercise, after doing it, it's not how I wanted the rest of the restoration to go. But also, subtitling is not how it aired either, and actually imo, subtitling is even LESS honest to how it aired because it's not in English and we never watched subtitled cartoons i the 80s. Because who tf has the scripts still? Those would be harder to find than the missing footage. But we don't have the footage so what to do? So the idea of nostalgia and "just get it done and get it close" basically is the decision that won over. Because otherwise it's just going to never get seen by anyone for years and all of us editors and restorers will just sit on our laurels and do nothing. So I can either wait to find the missing footage or just power on ahead and do what i'm doing and the fans can at least see the show today. And if some day someone finds all the missing footage, frankly I'd just put all my videos on private. I don't care, I'd rather see the originals and put mine out of view. But my eventual feeling, at least in my opinion, there's a good chance we'll get to old age and die before someone finds those originals. And by then what shape will they be in? It could be they'll be so damaged someone's just going to have to do what I did and use AI programs to restore them. So we're back to square one. So I'm doing it and having fun, because I'm an artist and I like to create, and I think a lot of fans are just going to enjoy finally seeing the entire run of the show again, even if it's only 70% correct. We'll have that 70%. What bothers me is all the young animation fans out there, they are watching old shows, and they straight up cannot see this show in full. We need to give them something at least. It bothers me that the visual footage was all found but people still can't watch it.

I think the syndicated version cuts the opening shot short, it has the opening slate fade over top of the first shot by about a second. Under normal circumstances I would have restored that entire shot but I figured that short amount of time wasn't a big deal.

I'm doing this off memory, not looking it up, after seeing a bunch of their videos from the past few months. Whiz has been an anime voice actor, like in Naruto and stuff like that, plus he ends up in things like Hallmark movies and such. His roster of characters is pretty deep. I mean he was also Michaelangelo in the ninja turtles movie too, which was a monster hit after kidd video. Ash is the same but seemingly not as much work as Whiz. Carla married military, so ended up overseas and I suspect not much opportunity to do hollywood in that case. Kidd had children early from what I recall, I could be wrong, but he decided that was more important.

This is very timely. I logged on to youtube right now because I am at this very moment uploading that full episode with all the original 1984 music. It will go live once RUclips finishes processing it. It's definitely the original 84 version because the song is much older. Anyway, in a few hours the episode will be up.

I watched this show as a kid, but only had vague memories of it, and some details have been bugging me for years. This has been an awesome find. And thanks for your update! From my searches, it sounds like a lot of enthusiasts have been looking for this ep.

There will be a lot more kidd video surprises from this channel in the future, some subscribers suddenly sent me a load of video captures right after I uploaded this video and now I have a lot of the missing footage that is not on the kv flipside channel.

Thanks for hanging on to watch these videos. I originally wasn't going to restore the show but I'm strongly considering it now. Might be more later. Plus other cartoons.
