Hi everyone. My name is James.
Having pondered the idea for some considerable time, I decided midway through 2021 to create my own RUclips channel. I'm sure you've probably gathered that I enjoy cars quite a bit, so I decided to base the content around them. There's episodes of me trying to mend mine whenever they break down (more often than not), as well as taking them out to car meets to enjoy them with my amazing son, Reggie.
Not everything goes to plan, as you'll discover, but the way I look at things is to at least give them a try. I'm not an expert, but I'm always learning.
I'm always looking for new ideas and things to make episodes of, so please feel free to let me know what you think of them, good or bad. Please also let me know your suggestions on the sorts of things you'd like to see.
If you would like to show your support, click the "Subscribe" button. Everything is always greatly appreciated.
Thanks for taking the time to explore the channel. I hope you enjoy it.

Episode 209 - How to replace a starter motor on a Ford Fiesta Mk7
One problem after another with this Fiesta!

Your welcome mate, anytime 👍🏼
Absolute legend! Thank you so, so much! 👊
Nice video. Fancy getting a 1.25 petrol Fiesta and doing some videos on that? 👍
@Shavenuw129 Cheers buddy. I've actually got 2 Fiestas already on the drive. I don't think any more will fit! 🤣
I’ve had umpteen classics over the years from Morris 1000’s to mk2 jags to mk2 escorts and many BMC big saloons in between and all of them were used daily or on a regular basis ,even in winters ice and snow .when the company’s made them they weren’t made to sit in a garage til it was nice weather .having to fix brakes every year because they’ve seized the wheel cylinders up .. .
Absolutely Craig. These cars are definitely built to be enjoyed. Obviously, everyone has their preferences for that enjoyment, but I agree that they need to be out and about. My lad and I take our Capri to as many meets as we can, and I know Mike definitely enjoys his Mk2 in the same way! 😁🖤💙
Good work Jimmy!
Cheers Chris. Much appreciated buddy. 😎
Thanks pal, you've saved a guy some money there. I know what I'm doing tomorrow 👍🏻
Cheers buddy. Much appreciated. I will add something that I didn't feature in the video. Before you fit the discs, just give them a spray with break cleaner first and wipe the surfaces. The discs come packaged with a fine film of oil sprayed on them, to stop them rusting in storage. The brake cleaner will get rid of it once it's wiped off. 👍 Keep me posted on how you get on buddy. Thanks again. 👍
Thank you! Do you have the torque values for replacement of each nut we removed? Thank you!
Hi mate. I'm afraid I don't. I just worked off of the feel when tightening. Don't get me wrong. It probably would be sensible to use a torque wrench. Hopefully there are forums out there that may be able to give you those numbers. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
@@jimmykneesall Thanks for your soon answer! I just don't have Haynes for the Volvo as I have for the other car I have.
@ulfskorre2386 The good old Haynes manuals. I bet they'd be insanely complicated if they existed for new cars! 🤣
Nice
Thank you matey! 😀
From where did u got the right part mate, can’t find it on Euro car part
Sadly, I couldn't tell you buddy. My mate got it and he no longer has the van either. Just be sure to get the one that has the correct body size for your van, otherwise you'll run into the same problem we did! 🤣
Wasn't impressed by the vxr8 😉🤣
I was! 🤣 Glad I got you featured Dale. There's enough noise in her exhaust to wake the dead! 💀😨
are you going to shove a 5 speed from a rapid/estelle in it?
Sadly, Dan no longer owns the car. However, knowing his very ambitious mind, he'd have probably fitted a gearbox from a Boeing 747 if he could! 🤣
Jimmy. Just for overseas viewers , what year is your Mk7 Fiesta? 2016-2023 ? Looks rusty as F, ? European cars in England last ? 6 -8 years >? Its newer than my 2011 V6 Ford Escape with 110,000 miles or my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 with 80,000 miles . Texas is really good for cars ,, Both mine sweet. Having said that, we have straight roads / highways? Just Trolling Jimmy ! I know UK motoring is hard, If I returned, I would buy my wife a Japanese car, me a Capri !
Cheers Eamo. I would be so happy seeing you and your missus in the two cars you really want, especially your Capri. 👌 Don't worry. This car deserves all the expletives it gets. It's a 2009 model. One of the early Mk7's, with no nice extras inside and lots of brown metal outside. It's horrid. 🤣
@@jimmykneesall Haha Love it and your content. Please say hello to your wifey. Better than mine , no way mine would let me be so CAR focused, Take her out on a date night !

great video, your videos have turned into my sunday evening meal entertainment 🤣👍 im glad i dont have a modern car anymore, the amount of stuff you had to removed to just change an injector is crazy!
HaHa. Cheers Will. Glad you're enjoying them. Yes. An absolute pig just to change one part. Far too much nonsense in the way on new cars. 🤣

My first was Mum's Orange Mini 1000, 1975 , she got another in 1977 ,a white one. Drove it to Newcastle Uni in 1977, then I got my Capri 1.6..... done and dusted. I worked on old Minis @ Newcastle University to fix some , usually fixing girls cars, and bought and sold a few, little money, made more at Grey''s Casino in Newcastle ! I like this new avenue on your channel to pick out some great cars, for an in depth ! wish they were all Capris !!
My first car I owned was a Mini, as mentioned in the video. It certainly gave me some great memories. They give everyone great memories though, don't they? Glad you're enjoying this spin on our content mate. You know I'd be more than happy to feature a Capri or two! 😁
So what exactly happend???
Do you mean why the knocking began in the first place, or what the car was like after the repair? For the former, I can only think that the strut was damaged as a result of general wear and tear from going over bumps. Can't see it being anything else. Certainly not crash damage. For the latter, absolutely spot-on. The car drove like a dream. We no longer have it any more, but it was still handling speed humps with ease up to that point. Hope that helps.
great episode, best one yet, but im bias 🤣😃👍
I don't know what you're talking about! 🤣🤣 Thanks for popping by and showcasing the car buddy. It brought back lots of awesome memories for me. I had a blast. I'm glad you enjoyed the video too. 😎
Awesome coverage again jimmy 👍👍my first car was a (1973) L reg 850 mini YRB 779L really miss that car
Thanks Dunk. I think it's safe to say that most "car" people have experienced the brilliance of the classic Mini, and they.probably say the same as you have. I certainly enjoyed then one I had too.
Loved the Ford content Jimmy , thanks, especially Capris.
No problem buddy. A great end to a fab day out. Glad you enjoyed the videos. 👍
Use some heat on it! It looks as if you have a sticking caliper - the inside face of the disc is rusty, so a caliper replace or rebuild is required. Otherwise you'll still have unequal braking.
I was thinking that the caliper was fine, given that I could compress the piston without any issues. Is what you're saying a factor of why I had uneven wear across that inside pad?
@ - it is simply not normal that the inside pad would not be in full contact with the disc face, so to have just the inner part of the disc/pad delivering correct braking is very odd indeed. And it's the piston side of the caliper, so perhaps there was something not fitted correctly long ago, or something trapped between pad and disc.
@a310man That makes sense. Probably incorrectly fitted before. The piston seemed to depress without a problem. Thanks for your feedback. Much appreciated.
Fast Ford's
There were indeed a few that day. 😁
Some nice fords maybe I’ll get my focus st on one of your vids one day

Bloody brilliant really enjoyed that well done that you stuck at it 👍
Cheers Stephen. Much appreciated. Ironically, I didn't know at the time that I might have gotten away with just replacing the rounded stud. I didn't know they were removable! 🤦♂️ Still, I was happy with the result in the end. Cheers buddy. 👍
Awesome appreciate the video 🎉
No problem buddy. Thank you for your kind words. 👊
Jimmy thank you so much, I always follow you and Reggie hoping to see something like my two special Fords. I have talked about them before (see previous posts). I stopped dead in my tracks,,, at 11:28 minutes , the EXACT replica of my Daytona yellow Mk II 1.6 Capri, this is exactly the 1977 S reg Daytona Yellow Capri Mk II , black venial roof etc that I bought second hand in 1979. I bought it from a Ford Capri dealership in Stoke. I even went to visit the prior owner as it was in such showroom condition, he was in his garage polishing his new MkIII ! It was like new. I had this girl till 1985 when I went overseas. I continued your Vlog 2 cars later. You had my second car , a G Reg Ford Cosworth Sapphire at 11.46 minutes,, what the heck ! I bought this same colour and year on a trip home ! In 8 minutes walking , you had the exact same two cars, years and colours as I bought in 1979 and 1989 by memory ~~ And they say Karma is not a thing ! WOW Jimmy !
I love the fact that our videos seem to activate the floodgates for your memories Eamo. To have that Capri and that Sierra in those colours so close to one another at the same venue, and they so-happen to be identical to one of our followers whose living in the US, who just so happened to live and work not far from where we live - Extraordinary mate. Brilliant placement Jimmy, Tears in my eye, a Burgundy G Reg Sapphire Cosworth @ timestamp 27.17 was the exact year and car that I had been looking for for all my time on this channel. I left the UK NCB Coal Mines in 1985 for overseas in the oil business and sold my S reg Capri II. I used to come back every year and hire a hot hatchback from Town and Country near London Heathrow. They were the only car hire company with great cars like the Peugeot 105 1.6 GTI original.! One mad year coming back , I bought a G reg Cosworth Sapphire and drove it for a month before returning to Brazil. This car is the same year, colour and model ! It was fantastic, I was @ 140 mph or so going to London at night and a Goodyear Eagle burst at night,,, it was stable,,, but took 6 days to get a replacement tyre . My ex sold it after I left to a Scammer ! What a great waste of money that was for 3 weeks fun ! Wouldn't change that memory for all the money in the world ! Man you should have so many more subscribers !
I love your stories Eamo. Always full of fantastic memories. I'm so pleased that this episode has brought them back for you. Sounds like you had a lucky escape with the blowout though! 😲 Reggie and I definitely picked a superb spot. We got traffic from both northbound and southbound carriageways meeting together. Definitely helped with the road closure at the other side of the venue too! 🤣 Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for your continued support. Part 2 coming next week! 👍😎
@@jimmykneesall Absolutely waiting on the next post Mate. I would love to be 20 now and have a Focus to work on, with all the kit they have available to them and knowledge. In my days it was just Halfords so I found a 2.0s scrapyard engine and put it into my 1.6 gearbox, added 4 ex track racing tyres. It was great for a month till I raced an RS Ford on the M1 (BANG !!!!) piston through the motor. I then bought a 1600 engine and sold it before going overseas ... In 1985 we had no internet or training or education on mechanics so we just did ,,,, it usually came out bad !
@@eamo106 I have a lot of appreciation for the modern car, but I can never see myself owning one. I just like being able to fix what I can myself on them, something that gets harder to do with newer vehicles. The idea of just swapping out an engine for a scrapyard replacement is very appealing, although I've had to go that far yet! 🤣
@@jimmykneesall In my era Jimmy we worked odd jobs for money for cars, then to the salvage yards for parts at 1/5th of the cost of new. As Georgie Best may have said, I spent all my money on cars, the rest I wasted on girlfriends.

Awesome content as aways ❤
Thank you so much Pete. 🤙
Personally I'd rather do it properly. One bit of grease on the mating surfaces, one bit of missed glue and it will fail immediately. The CV boot is constantly flexing while diving and I cannot believe it should be other than an emergency, temporary get you home repair If I inspected a vehicle with a view to buying where a repair like this had been done I would turn and walk away, because I would wonder how many other cost cutting fudges had been inflicted on the car.
It's a fair challenge John. Sadly, we no longer own the car, so I can't feed back on whether or not it's still intact. What I can say say is that it passed its subsequent MOT with it fitted and it was still holding up very well for the time we still had it before it was sold on. I guess it's one of those repairs that you could do if you didn't have all the required kit available to fit a a complete one, as was in my case. I can assure you though that there were no so-called fudged repairs. 😁
😂😂😂😂 Been for new buyer fix only wahh

I have an issue with mine where the clutch needs bleeding quite often as the biting point gradually drops so low that it wont disengage without you pumping it a few times, quite frustrating
That sucks Harry. Could it possibly be that you have some sort of leak in the system that's allowing air to be drawn in each time you depress the clutch pedal? I assume the clutch is hydraulically-operated rather than cable-operated? I'm not too sure myself. 😬
Well done on your own, find a buddy, 2 men keep up morale and better than you on your own. Liked the thermal solution. Back in the 1985s many cars had a spray of 'undercoat' every 2-3 years and not so rusty and easier to work on. .
Cheers Eamo. Perhaps when our RUclips channel properly blows up, Reggie and myself will have our own full-blown garage to work on our rusty bangers! 🤣 That induction heater is definitely a winner. It certainly got me out of a pickle. 👌
@@jimmykneesall I spent miserable months with Simon in the winter, repairing my Capri II and his Pontiac Firebird. As I say all nuts and bolts came off as we had oil/wax undercoats. You were dealing with rust !
@@eamo106 Yeah, plenty of it! 🤣
@@jimmykneesall Keep at it Jimmy !
Good job well done, the ending where the socket slips, feel the pain! done that with uncontrolable swearing added! if i ever get stuck nut/bolt on the mini im coming to yours to use that rather cool induction heater gadget!
Cheers Will. Injuries and swear words form part of the amateur mechanic's toolbox don't they? 🤣 Mate, that induction heater is a life-saver. You're more than welcome to try it out on yours. 👍
@@jimmykneesall i dont think ive done a job with out some form on injury an swears 🤣 Thanks i'll let you know if i need to remove a stubborn bolt!
