I travelled to Alsace late July 2022 when the temperatures were in late 30's into 40°C !! It was a little cooler at elevation though!

Loch Achilty covers 100 acres in the eastern Highlands of Scotland. Loch Achilty lies between Loch Garve and Loch Achonachie 21 miles north of Inverness on the A835.

Rogie Falls and explore the forest trails in Contin and Blackmuir Wood. There's another quiet picnic place at Grudie on the Achnasheen road.

On the road to the picnic site you'll see a forestry sign and a gate on your right leading into Achilty Oakwood. Look out for willow warblers and pipits, as well as woodland flowers growing amongst the sessile oaks.

Look out for a small, tree-covered, artificial island or crannog close to the south shore of the loch, which can just be seen from the picnic area. Standing about ½ metre above the water level and made of evenly-coursed stones, this platform probably supported a family home which was easy to defend in times of trouble.

. The River Conon is a fabulous place for spring salmon fishing.

Great loch for picnic, bbq and kayaking.

If you're doing the North Coast 500, make sure you venture off the routes a little and stop at this loch and taking in the fresh air is good for the soul.

Fantastic hidden gem! Great spot for paddleboarding, kayaking and open water swimming.

From Inverness, follow the A9 north to the Tore roundabout. Take the second exit onto the A835 (for Ullapool and Dingwall) and continue for 12 miles (19.2 km) through the village of Contin. Shortly after the Achilty Hotel you'll see a minor road signposted to Loch Achilty. Turn left here and follow the road for just under a mile (1.6 km) to the head of the loch. The picnic area and car park is on your left at grid reference NH 426 563.

Victoria Falls is a waterfall on the southern side of Loch Maree in Wester Ross in the north-west of Scotland. It's on the Abhainn Garbhaig, river that flows from Loch Garbhaig to Loch Maree. The falls are within Slattadale Forest. Address is : Achnasheen IV22 2HW and is open 24 hours.

Nice easy walk to the falls, you can do a short there and back or a slightly longer circular route. Love the way the water comes towards you then veers off to fall.

Waterfall just a few minutes easy from the car park. A viewing deck at the bottom and a path to take you to view from the top.

If you're doing the North Coast 500 this should be on your list of places to visit!!😀

Truely awesome place!

Although I did not see any but the signs mentioned salmon migrated upriver. Think I need to invest in a better camera with zoom lens to capture those shots.

Came across this great little castle took some external pic's. Castle tour was appointment only which had to be made in advance hence no internal pic's taken. Still.worth a visit!!

Well worth a visit BUT.... I had to present my EU paassport and return the following day for the actual Airbus factory tour. I guess they carry out background checks on all visitors.

Great views but where is the hardcore stove action your fans crave! Why the pseudo Enya soundtrack, totally crashed the vocals of your commentary. The horse lacked poise.

At times like these, I think the world need some stove action
