The most ridiculous thing I ever saw
I have tried a bunch of different methods. With my arthritic shoulders this looks like the one way I've seen that could help me. Thanks! I really appreciate this innovative idea and will be trying it out later today. I'll follow up and let you know how it goes. I think as long as the paddle doesn't slide around or break it will be great. And I usually am with other kayakers who are always happy to help. Since you only need to get your upper body on the kayak, I'm hoping that's not going to break the paddle shaft.
Another flat water rescue. GMAFB
See how your heel holds the boat even in 12" chop.
Is he serious!! What a pénible process!!!
Great thanks
Great video. Is that a nylon tubular webbing 1 inch aa shown or other?
Why does this video have so many thumbs down in comparison to likes? I feel like his explanation and demonstration was perfect.
Who is here for the Kayaking Merit Badge
I'm not but I got my canoeing merit badge in 1972. At 66 I'm just getting into kayak fishing. Inshore.
Thanks great info.
Any reason you can’t use this same principle in a bass boat by attaching a loop of webbing to a cleat on the transom?
Nicely done! I'll be practicing this in my launch area to get it down.

Very neat idea! Still looks like the earlyish prototype stage, functional but pricey and a bit crude, and a lot more sharp metal edges than I'd like.. There's got to be a way to make some sort of reinforced plastic version that's safer and more graceful, with mounting bolts recessed / covered. I hope you have a patent, maybe you can sell the idea to a bigger kayak company or partner to produce it. I mean no offense, I love the idea and kudos for coming up with an effective solution. I only kayak occasionally, so I rent or borrow, but I've done some kayak camping and this would be super helpful, especially for re-entry in choppy waters, and even as reliable paddle holder while taking a hands-free break on the water, it would be super helpful (gotta stop for snacks / photos/ beer :-) ). I've used a plastic paddle clip and it's way better than nothing, but your solution looks much better than that (except for the sharp metal edges).
Seems to me that the end result of the stirrup set-up is that you are applying the stepping force on the strap by the side of the kayak. So if you had a kayak that had rod mounts or similar anchor point on the deck, could you not just loop a shorter length of strap over it and get the same stirrup effect without use of the paddle?
Ya know you have a good idea too I might just mount somthing for this exact reason heck of an idea thanks.
One point: attach the uninflated paddlefloat to the paddle blade, secure it, THEN inflate. Saves struggling with sliding the inflated paddlefloat onto a blade (esp if your paddlefloat is double chambered).
Very helpful great video. Thanks for posting it!
