    That chattering in the cab he’s talking about is not good. It means corn is going over the sieve and back through the machine that should not be happening. He needs to open the sieve up so more falls through and goes to grain tank and not back through the machine again.

      This one keeps a constant close eye on the chickens and cows but he isn't a full-time LGD. With a little work they can be great companion dogs and great watchdogs.

      It's a quiet, compact little piece of equipment. I would like to have a NI wheel rake someday. Mostly for nostalgia, but the one I used when I was learning hay was good at getting the fine stuff off the ground.

      @@smallfarmsurvival4026 I had one of those new idea five wheel rakes the old style with the spring coil piece mounted around the outside. I never could get that thing to work that good I had a John Deere one just like it neither one I could really get to Ray very well.

    Why use a ferro rod when you can use a lighter? Ronson, Firebird and Solder-it make wind resistant lighters that don't cost much. I cheat with charcoal firestarters available at Wally world.

    I especially enjoyed the sound of the engine on your tractor. My dad had a 1952 Ford 8N and there were times when I was twelve years old while spending the summer with him. I helped find firewood. There were times he would let back the tractor up to a fallen tree, hook it up and pull it up to the barn where he would cut them up and split the logs.

      This was poor soil, and I wanted t be able to turn in the compost and manure as deep as possible. It is indeed quite a workout to use.

      A 479 is a bigger machine, so I don't know that an H could handle it. There's no harm in trying, though. It might work and it might not.
