Nice boat the forward helm is odd but otherwise lovely lines
I ran and maintained these boats at a lodge on the French River. Really really soft beautiful and sturdy boat. ❤
With the kind of torque that engine would likely have, you could run a 25" pitch 30" prop and make the island in four revolutions of the crankshaft LOL.
a real beauty indeed.
Greetings from oakville Ontario my family has a dippy enjoy it at our cottage on LOB
Greetings from southern Ontario Canada this was a fun video presentation my family spends our spring summer and fall at lake of bays and we have a wooden launch with 1958 Johnson outboard 70hp 18ft cedar strip with a fiberglass bottom
Such a wonderful gentleman in so many ways!
How did they do that over a hundred years ago? Horses
A Packard motor, that would be nice! Just got a 67? 250 PMD OHC motor I'm going to put in my 74 runabout. I know where an old boat was found abandoned in a boat house, which they sadly burned :(
HI Everyone. Rob Gerigs The Boat Builder here. I was the man who did the restoration on this gorgeous boat. I was in the employ of Tom at the time and now I'm the owner of this shop and still doing incredible restorations. I had a lot of joy in crafting the insane amount of wood that went into her. Blood Sweat and Tears as they say. Tears of joy though. I was actually sad to see her leave, but she's back where she belongs, in the water. I have a ton of stories about the restoration if anyone's interested. We're thinking of doing a RUclips series on the process from start to finish in retrospect. Everyone hears about her history but no one gets to see and hear about the physical task of rebuilding her board by board, rib by rib and frame by frame. Keep an eye out for my RUclips channel to see us in action and some of the work we've done. We're in the process of adding a tremendous amount of boats I've built and restored, so it's constantly being worked on. RUclips, Instagram/Facebook all under.... muskokaboatbuilder. Best wishes to everyone and stop in if your in my neck of the woods. Rob.
The worst thing you can do to A wood boat is to pick it up on straps
Don’t burn em , restore em ! Great stuff !!!
Nice boat🇺🇸👍
👍👍👍
Thank you for these videos. I've been thinking for a long time now about possibly building a cedar strip boat. This has been very informative. So, thanks 👍
i have a picture of it before it was restored
Nice boat !!!
i took delivery on my French River in spring of 2005 and it is the best handling, most beautiful craft i’ve ever owned … and it gets looks and thumbs up all over the Adirondacks
Good Day All : What beautiful boats ! What would be the finished weight of the 16 " bare hull ? Where is Powassan , Ontario . Are your vessels coated in Varathane , Marine Varnish or Shelac or Fiberglass Resin ?
Thank you for the great video. I recently purchased a 1946 French River runabout. I hope to connect with the good folks at Geisel boats and restore this great boat. Thank you again. Happy to be a new subscriber to your channel.
That was great. Glad I stumbled across your video. Thanks . Proud Ontarian, living in Hong Kong
I guess im asking the wrong place but does anybody know a way to get back into an instagram account..? I somehow forgot my account password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me
@Soren Carmelo Instablaster ;)
@Timothy Kamden Thanks for your reply. I got to the site through google and im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Takes a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Timothy Kamden It worked and I finally got access to my account again. Im so happy! Thank you so much, you really help me out !
@Soren Carmelo No problem =)
I have checked many woodworking plan sites. I think the instructions from Stodoys are the best.
Reminds me of Thompson Boat in Peshtigo, WI
That boat is like 1/2 mile to long
That boat looks very weird. It's to long and narrow. But the work that went into this boat is absolutely beautiful. But not the boat for me. I'd be a nervous wreck seeing that crane lifting it 40 feet in the air. I'd be ready to shoot someone
this was way cool these older boats are my fav boasts as i loked these older boatas i knew they was a good lookin boat as i always liked the classic boat as i have one myself now as im going to restore an older fiberglass Caribbean sea sprite boat in future as im gonna rebuild this rare fiberglass classic boat in future as for the outboard im gonna fit a new mercury 4 stroke 40hp on the back in future as thiswas my first ever fiberglasss boat i have it on 21 years now as my Caribbean was built in 1967 as thiswas my first ever boat as i liked the classic fiberglass boats like mine as i liked the Aussie Caribbean as my boat is a rare classic fiberglasds runabout thiswas in my care on 21yrs now as you see these was getting more as a fine classic resto in future as im going to restore my Caribbean in future as thiswas gonna be on 22yrs in the new year i've had this boat in my care as you knew when i immigrate to the states i will breing it to this show in future
good viewing for a good old salty like me as i liked classic boat all my life was on a classic boats as i really liked them as they are really good boats as these was very historic these wooden boats are the best of craftmanship as i see thiswas the case as all old salts willbe happy to own these boats like me as i liked the older boats as they are far more better then the newer boats of now as these was really easy to fix and restore in future as newer boat in future willbe needing all the electronic replaces and the engines was are more complex to rebuild and service too that's why i liked the older boat for this reason now as these was far better to own in future the reason for this was the nwer boats willbe harder torestore in future that's was my views on the boats of now
Sorry, No Official Records Exists to Back-up Your claim That Supertest III Ever hit 200 MPH. Far From that!
And THANK YOU for the tour. My father had a 22 foot cris craft spees boat . I was very young at the time, but I do remember it had a 6 cylender GRAY marine motor (flat head) with twin up draft carbs. He sold it a little bit before he dier, and that was in June of 1961. I think the boat was made in 1949? CHEERS.
Hello Robert. Half way through this PART 2, YOU mention a 4 seater that was sold not too many years ago. Could that boat be formerly Miss Canada owned by the Crews family from Arma Island? Used to visit for family vacation. David Gordon
It's nice you're renting the boats. thank you, hope to come and visit from the states once the covid is done ww
wonderful boats , thanks for sharing your impressions with us. I hang on on Mahogany , selfmade model boats like StanCraft Torpedo 29' . Check RUclips for this kind of woodies on a lake in Bavaria
How is a beam measured?
I love restorations of historic wooden vessels...
Thank you for sharing the video. I am thinking about buying an old Chris Craft runabout or similar. Something with two cockpits inside of 18'. I mean to buy a project as well. It is nice to see videos like yours to see what other people are doing. I have done a fair amount of woodworking with other things. Whenever I get marks from the orbital sander I kind of like them. They are tooling marks. I wonder if you could less marks with a vibrating palm sander. I have to say that I don't see any marks in the stain. I think it looks a lot like a boat. Great job.
Interesting film and lovely boat but utterly banal commentary.
They should have spreaders accross the beam as well as I have seen a similar wooden boat crushed by the straps. Why not have a second set of straps under the first, they do break!
what a waste of my time.
I'm gonna guess any idiot who makes a wake near this show is gonna have a lot of old guys in woodys chasing him down lol
I have the original hand written ltters I wrote on behalf of my father from 1976 to purchace one these magnificent boats. at the time he ordered a 16' French River Special with a few modifications! My dad passed away in 78 and only got to enjoy the boat for a couple of years, but my family and I enjoyed it until 2006! It was a head turnr EVERY time I put it in the water!
Beautiful boats!
Man that transporter looks like garbage. All beat up lol
Nice Refit However you would think they would let the hull swell 24 hours be for starting the main Engine
Just great to see a classic boat restored . With a lot of years ahead, Very nice job 👍
These boats are almost indestructible! There great for fish camps were multiple people use them and don’t know were the rocks are.
An absolutely stunning Boat. Good luck.
What beautifull ship she is. All that soul. WoW !
ITS NOW 2020,october and soon the boat will be at the bottom of the lake, get it out of the water if you want to save it,THERES A POLESHIFT COMING ON THE PLANET...
Not gonna lie. Woulda got more views if the strap did break🤷♀️
Oh the sound of that engine... I spent many summers on Lake Muskoka and Grandpa owned many wooden boats, the last one by Greavette built in the late 60s.... Memories.....
