Episode 34 - My Friend Opens his FIRST PACK in OVER 20 YEARS! AND GETS SOME NICE HITS!
I have to say thank you for the video. I saved it so I can come back and listen to it If I need too. I just came into 11 boxes of cards from old to new and some PSA cards. Sister passed away and she had tones of cards saved because of kids playing baseball . They didn't want them and gave them to me since I played baseball when I was a kid. I'm wondering would it be a good idea to sleeve all the cards if down the road you plan on selling them? One other thing have you done an update on sorting or are you still doing the same thing like in the video? Keep up the great work plus just watched your other video on terms .
Very clear explanation...
Thanks for watching!!!
I think I have a short print A-Rod electric diamond!
My kitchen table has had stacks on it for months. I keep buying more and can’t keep up with sorting them all.
Thanks so much!
If there older commons say junk wax and older I send autograph requests to players from my favorite team like the Yankees and Steelers.
OMG ... I inherited a big plastic bin of sports cards and this video has really opened my eyes! I can now make sense of the info on them, why they are stored in certain sleeves, why some are in packs and boxed, etc. Thank you so much for taking time to explain the terminology. 🙏🏽💙🙏🏽
I’m glad you found the video helpful! Hopefully you got some nice cards in that bin!
Still going through my bin and came across some cards with holograms and a bit of gold foiling stamped on them, all stored in Top Loader sleeves. Should they be sent for grading? Thanks again!
Razzing is a disgusting fractional gambling practice where most of the time the summed value of spots is above the value of the card hence over an infinite lifetime of razes you definitely lose money statistically
@@jackog44 it’s a gamble for sure - it’s definitely not for everybody.
[08-25-24] I am seeling most of my Bbcards but have official yearbooks, numbered team pictures, ALL STAR BALLOT from 1964 to include Babe Ruth and Henry Aaron.I have full sets of 1994-95 Denny's Anniversary Hologram GRANDSLAM...mint condition on everything!!! Lingo has changed over 50 years and your explaining has helped me but it is still like foreign language to me!!! I just wanted to say "thanks"!!!
Those sets sound amazing! I remember the Denny’s set too! So glad you found this video helpful!
I started collecting last year for the first time. I had no real goal in mind and it really became over whelming with all the diferent types of cards out there, not to mention the cost. So now I'm looking at focusing my collecting to a specific team and I'm going to narrow my focus from there. Your video gave me plenty of things to think about. I really appreciate your video and I beleive it is going to help me develop an interesting and fun collection. Thanks!
So happy to hear this video helped you! Thank you for watching!
You have the same worthless cards that I have....
Haha but now you can sort them!
Still doing Razz or more likely 'Draft' right now coz as you explained, all spots will have their own cards, no losers, all winners. However, the value of the last pick might have no value at all.
It is surely possible
You’re a pirates fan? Finally someone to share the misery…….
Haha. “It’s true! It’s damn true! “- Kurt angle
if this is funny 👇
A very helpful video for all card collection beginner like me, thanks a lot!
So happy it helped! Thank you for watching!
Great info! thank you man!
Thanks bro.. just started collecting again from the 90s
No problem 👍
Thanks for the video ! Very informative !
Glad you found it helpful! Thank you for watching!
Why not put them into a spreadsheet? You can download most of the basic information from PSA and then add columns for "HAVE", "TEAM" "YEAR", etc. Then you can quickly search for desired groupings (Dodgers, Jackie Robinson, etc.)
Great video. Did you end up putting all manufacturer together by year, or using year followed by manufacturer as the master sort layer.
Personally I sorted by year first then manufacturer second. But that’s just me- the reverse is perfectly acceptable as well! Some also sort by team first then manufacturer/year.Thank you for watching!
You earned this!
Thank you!
Just getting into the hobby. I absolutely ❤ this video! So helpful!! Wouldn’t mind a part 2. There’s so much to learn! lol
Welcome back! Glad you found this helpful! Been thinking about a part two since this video is a few years old and there’s even more newer terms now!
@ParlayJaySports do you still collect?
Of course!
Cool video! Just gotta get rid of that annoying music 😩
Ah bummer that you didn’t like the music! But glad you liked the video ! Thank you for watching!
What does it mean when someone comments W on your for sale post
On Facebook it means “watching” so that they get notifications as comments are made
Great video. Although I think you may be overestimating the desire for sub-grading. Especially now that the eBay Vault is soon to become the PSA vault. Personally I only consider buying cards graded by PSA.
Agree that since the making of this video sub grading has changed with the drop in popularity of BGS. I still love it and many still do. Thank you for watching!
Hello there, When I bought a trading cards I do is i look at the trading cards number on the back of them.. It's easy way for me to do.
That makes sense!
Thank you
You're welcome
Since we don't have a prominent local team here in Louisiana, I started collecting my favorite LSU players who have played in the Majors. It gives me a chance to follow more teams as a baseball fan.
That’s a great reason to team collect! Thank you for watching!
I did the same as a kid!
Thank you from Vancouver Island Canada. Just retired and I am starting to acquire sports cards. Just like when I was a young boy and I am enjoying it. Great tips to begin my collections. Cheers Wallace from Canada!
That’s incredible! Happy collecting! Thank you for watching!
And all yrs
So only topps have short print or all kinds
There are short prints in all different products
This video did not help
Sorry you didn’t like the video- since its creation short prints have changed significantly so a part two would help as well!
Dude I went to that cardboard connection nothing shows what you was taking about
Something happened to them in the past two months- suddenly they aren’t posting checklists like they used to. Beckett still does though. Check them out
@@ParlayJaySports I'm not paying for beckett
@@micahlangley6230 checklists are free on their website
@ParlayJaySports ok how you look it up and I have a card he's clapping but not a sp
Ok you telling us horizontal is a short print but I have alot of them why don't they just put sp so you taking didn't help me at all
This video was from a few years ago where horizontal cards were often short prints- since then things have changed and horizontals are more likely base than sp
@@ParlayJaySports ok how you tell
It depends on the year and product - the code on the back in the best way- but in recent years , Topps, for example started placing them backwards in packs and with the “SP” or “SSP” letters on the back
@ParlayJaySports 95 topps stadium club and he'll short print card ain't going be worth anything anyway
Sell them overseas for cheap, assuming someone pays S&H. Those old latin players of the junk wax era would be a hit in Puerto Rico
Good idea!
Awesome sets - both beautiful! I chose to build 56 instead of 55 due to 56 had mantle and Campanella!
I am a 52 year old lady! My husband put a RUclips video on the other day and I kept telling him I had certain cards that they were showing. He didn’t believe me so I got my collection out and now I’m feeling like a 10 year old again obsessing over my cards. I have started trying to sort my collection in the best way. I appreciate your video to give me some ideas!
Nice to see another lady collecting! I have been a lifelong sports card collector with my fav being the 1973 topps baseball. I am working to complete my set as I have seriously streamlined my interests.
@@barbaragilbert6444 I feel like we may be the minority!! I’m enjoying getting back into it and learning more. So much more information out there than the Beckett magazines when I was a kid!
That is amazing! Welcome back to the hobby! I’m glad you are having fun because that’s what it’s all about! Thank you for watching!
Thank you for your videos, they are very helpful. You are easy to follow along with and understand.
Thank you so much! Thank you for watching!
I don’t look at sorting my cards as a hassle. I actually enjoy sorting my collection. I sort each player in alphabetical order. Once you do that, it is very easy to add new additions.
That’s a great way to do it!
Garbage?
Yep I'm from the junk wax era and getting back into it and I'll tell ya its like coming out of baseball card prison it's all whole new scene.
THANK YOU ! 2024!
THANK YOU! 2024!!
Donating to kids/children's hospital is genius! Thanks for this idea
Thank you for watching! I’m glad it helped!
Also someone gets the card out of those 10 people 😊
Sad that this has been viewed less. It was the most helpful video I have watched in about 200 hours of videos. Have someone help you retitle it and. Key word it. It is the best one I have seen.
Thank you so much for watching! So glad you found it helpful!!
I took my old cards my Donruss blue cards from the 1980s and do autographs through the mail. I’ve gotten about 40 autographs from 90s players and made a book.
I have zero knowledge on cards at all, but I did run across 7 unopened boxes of these exact cards. Also one unopened 1994 box of Pinnacle cards🤷🏾♂️
That’s awesome did you rip them???
I like doing early-mid 90s master sets (regular and all insert sets), especially Fleer/Ultra! That's some really fun "set building"!
