Life sometimes feels like a war in which our circumstances and people seem to battle against us. Remember, even though this present world does not acknowledge Christ as King, God is in control. As His people, we should worship Him for who He is and His continuing authority in all situations. When life takes a downward spiral, turn to the King who rules over all circumstances. He is not caught off balance. The battles you’ll face today are opportunities for God to show His authority. Choose to focus on God and His provision. Let His abilities and power give you confidence and lead you to victorious worship.

Christian music can be good if the music is good. Plenty of rock, rap, metal, techno, jazz is based in Christian messages, but for some reason the music that gets labelled "Christian" is just the stuff that considers inserting the moral message without considering the vibe. This is just as much of a Christian song as Black Sabbath, by Black Sabbath, from the album Black Sabbath, and both songs last because they can get to people's emotions through the music and metaphor in ways preaching just won't. As an atheist, I love so many Christian songs because the artists actually want to make art, and express their own emotions and faith their own ways, and put on display the complicated experience of having a mind and trying to cling to meaning in life and resisting cruelty. Faith in the hands of an honest and creative person makes such beautiful things. Feeling like life's pressures are just as dire as a world-erasing flood? That's strong, that's palpable, that's how anxiety can feel, and knowing that you have a community to center and ground yourself with to get through it, that's beautiful.
