Route 90 - Rubbish and a big drop next to Falmer cycle path
Просмотров 343 года назад
Rubbish accumulates next to the A27 on the Regional Route 90 cycle path from Falmer in East Sussex going east through Lewes. But there's also a big drop next to the path and anyone could go over the edge, particularly in hours of darkness etc. This follows a destructive clearance that removed the natural barrier provided by bushes and small trees. Further east, what the saplings and small trees...

Highways England has chopped down loads of small trees and shrubs next to the A27 in February 2020. This greenery was not a hazard to anyone. Highways England has removed the most attractive feature of the route between Falmer and Lewes and left a barren bank. This is an attack on the environment by people who care nothing for it. Needless to say, we were not consulted.

Goodbye, big Elm Tree in a Brighton cycle track!

This huge elm tree in the middle of a cycle track was infected with Dutch Elm Disease. On the bright side, this National Cycle Route (NCN20) will soon be without a big obstruction. At the moment, though a stump remains.

Carden Avenue, Brighton on NCN20 is a busy junction, difficult for cyclists. The cycle facility has been closed for the weekend. No work is being done by UK Power Networks who are at some point in the replacement of a "link box".
A23 Brighton, cycle lanes closed

The A23 cycle lanes, which are also a National Cycle Route, #NCN20 are "closed" and dismount signs have been put in both directions (though they have turned away from the camera) because some works are going on. Video shows southbound on Preston Road, #Brighton. There is absolutely no attempt to facilitate cycling through the works. There are no works on the southbound carriageway, but the lane...

DISGUSTING!!!
Reported ?
At least we can be thankful that there is a cycle route here, despite it not meeting the min requirements anymore, and that very steep embankment. ESCC have done a review of all cycle routes and cycle infrastructure in towns and there is a plan to rebuild this cycle path at the bottom of the embankment to meet standards. consultation.eastsussex.gov.uk/economy-transport-environment/escc-lcwip-2020/supporting_documents/Appendix%205B%20%20Sustrans%20LCWIP%20Report%20Lewes%20Final.pdf (page 11)

It is bizzare that they decided to block it in this way. A simple bollard would have been just as effective in preventing access to motor vehicles if that was their objective
That's right. The council officers didn't consult before doing this and the councillors in charge don't care enough to take any corrective action.
Is this one of the areas where the Home Office advice especially to the police was to allow careful cycling on the pavement where road works might create a cycling hazard. This area does not get a great deal of pedestrian use and it would be a problem to keep cyclists segregated during the roadworks.
At 0:24 you missed a piece of glass ... could you when you get a chance head back up there and show that piece again 👌
DonkeyRupublic is believed to be consistent throughout the world. This is my experience based on rent at Budapest, Ungary: First of all, I was attracted by the internet-independent activation of the "donkey system" ... which, however, did not quite come true in my case. Here are the details: In my case, I had (because I have no Internet phone) in the hotel (or other hotspot, can take place off the bike) vorbelegen / book, but then could unlock the wheel outside on the street without network access. Completing and releasing goes on the way even without network connection (at the wheel even when using Bluetooth is sufficient). For the return at the end you need internet access again. All budapester wheels are of the execution and the condition very high and without exception on bestgepflegteem undamaged and clean state. Also, I have nowhere seen a damaged or poorly maintained bike. By the way, not with the competitor MOL (MOL rather use the locals). Donkey is well received in Budapest (mostly by tourists / strangers) and you can see lots of people driving around in the sights. Her is my video: ruclips.net/video/unpAAP9BK3M/видео.html My conclusion of my Budapest experience with Donkey: Recommended and preferable to other providers, because good material, reliable user system and sympathetic care.
It's always really muddy there
What the heck!?!?! So its a cycle path, then it tells you to join bus lane, then its a bicycle banned area, then its back to shared path in the space of 1 foot!??
Looks like a busy place.
Some strong wind and big waves. Stay safe out there.
ruclips.net/video/eaD2XEIyEO4/видео.html close up rear view cycling through a deep flood.
I find cycling in floods can be fun sometimes as long as you know exactly how deep and safety first. I got a rear camera view of a flood close up. Really cool. I'll comment a link for the video in the next comment. If you dont see it check the spam box.
Would not want to park my car there with all the stones being flown over hittng the cars parked.
These road signs annoy me so much! They dont tell drivers to dismount and push for road works on the M1. So why do it to cyclists? If they expect us to follow the same rules as cars, I expected to be treated as a car.
What's even happening there?
Doesn't look like any hazard or work taking place
I had to attempt to ride a cargo trike across that yesterday. The weight of the trike was making rocks fly out from under the wheels in all directions, and I was happy to have three wheels because I was sliding around .
Sums up Brighton's cycling infrastructure
I walked both this path and the one that runs between Woodingdean and the Race Hill regularly while under construction. The aggregate used was indeed full of broken glass and crockery, I think this is what the council at the time deemed as recycling. Of course the contractor may have pulled a fast one without them knowing. Should have been left as bridal way.
On Christmas Day I waited 5 minutes to turn right. The traffic light didn't detect me as a cyclist. I had to wait until another car came up behind me.
The cycle path is alongside the road.
But there is plenty of new cycle parking available across the road outside Costa coffee shop.
Not much use if you're shopping in the Co-op!
The bit that is actually safe to ride on needs to be painted or marked! or at least stick some bollards by the steps
