this is my first time trying to paddle in a wa'a (outrigger canoe). i've decided to record this journey and share it, so others can learn too. i wanted to give a special thanks to my beautiful wife, without whom i'd never have had the confidence, desire, or opportunity to try anything like this. i love you. here's those videos i watched before i started: How to Carry an OC1 outrigger canoe rucl...
Hopefully I see you out there. Mahalo for posting
It's been a year. How are you doing now? Time on the water, some instruction here and there.
What brand/model canoe are you using? Any new vids coming out?
Chee, yessah!! 💪🏽💪🏽 Unko, if you or your son ever like paddle club OC6, lmk! Our club would be happy to have you!
You are the man Life is a learning curve Love you man
Find a video on using your paddle as a brace on the right side when needed. Get up a little speed with the paddle on your right side. Hold the blade almost flat on the water and add some pressure. You’ll feel the water pushing back and realize the pressure will keep you from a huli. Always wear a leash. Strap an extra paddle to your rear iako just in case you break yours or lose it. I wear a pfd. Some don’t but Id at least strap one to the canoe. Good job and have fun.
We all been there😂more time on the water is all you need mah bro👌…
Knew that huli was coming immediately 😂
Hou when the next vid coming out?
Awesome job Brah! You did great for your first go around! Don't worry, people that have been paddling for YEARS still lean on the Ama way too much. Honestly the biggest thing is just getting back in and not being intimidated. Everything else can be learned. Have fun!
Congratulations on your new paddle journey, each time you will get better and then soon the addiction sets in!
Watching this makes me smile. Keep it up. Looking forward to seeing you Progress
Awesome vid.....if you didn't already know....the singing/whistling is from the Venturi drain located in the footwell of the boat. The faster the boat goes, the move suction it creates to drain the foot well.
That is truly awesome. Love the positive approach, and enjoy the journey. It is well worth a few hulis.
Keep it up. Can’t wait to see your progress on the V1
Yessah my bro! Stay active!!! 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
Great video! Had a lot of fun remembering my first days on a V1. I love this canoe! You will too!!!
Really cool you recorded and posted this. I had to laugh at times. It brought back memories of my first day out.
I hope you keep it going brother.
Also, safety pointer, try not to put your foot on the ama when remounting yourself back in the canoe. Could pop off of you could damage it.
Can't wait to see the progression! Big ups to you for documenting! 🤙
Awesome. Time on the water is what my friend told me when I first started. You’ll get better and better each session. Always challenge yourself. Enter novice races as you get comfortable, paddle with people that are better than you. You won’t regret it! Just have fun and stay safe.
