hi Maxine....I have just started doing collage and am doing a face. would you ever use a print on a face? i have done two of them with solids and am happy with them...but your comment about prints is intriguing! would you use prints on a large face collage?

Hello Maxine, I have just discovered your work and I think it is really beautiful. I am nearly 80 years old and have been sewing for 70 of them, even ended up teaching in my 30ies - 40ies. I am seen this collage type work and I would love to learn how to do it. Do you offer tuition - I don't know where you are in the UK - I live in Lincoln. Hello @MaxineTarsey, thank you for this video. I think your videos are going to be really helpful when I get started with the chicken pattern that I have just purchased. However, not sure if it is a problem at my end, but the sound seems to stop on this video at 1.34 mins - which is a real shame as I was keen to hear your commentary as you complete the picture.

It would be helpful to remind people that you are looking at values for the ear and picking fabric that falls in light, medium and dark values. For new people even using a certain pattern is difficult because they forget to see it as a value and not a pattern.

How much do you overlap your fabric?

It would be nice to reference the original photo while working on the black area. I had completely forgotten this was the bottom of the skateboard.

When you trace the picture on the parchment paper we can watch it come to life as you add fabric. Untraced all we see is a white paper with bits of fabric. 😕
