    I do not get your take on the defense. GMMG said he tried to get another defenseman but they wanted too much money or too much term. Why overpay for a player when they are still going to be in the bottom of the standings? Also, I think GMMG is not done. They have first shot at all waivers until training camp begins or soon after and there might still be defensemen let go from cash strapped teams (example: Ceci with Edmonton). The Sharks do need an middle pair RD, but if GMMG cannot get another D, then it is what it is for this season. The Sharks are too far off from contending and overpaying for a UFA/RFA or giving up too much in trade does not make sense. It also does not fit their timeline. Lastly, the expected free agent class for next season is much better than what it available this offseason. Just saying.

      My biggest issue is that they have a lot of guys with two years left, which blocks young kids and doesn't allow him to trade them because they are more expensive. Someone like Jake Walman was a great pick up, I like Thrun and Emberson, but Benning for two years is rough, since he is coming off injury. I agree its a rebuild year and they are top of the waivers, which are great. I just don't see any room for them to pick up a defenseman, where they don't lose Emberson to waivers Also, I am a big fan of Grier. I like what he has done and having a great future center depth with Celebrini and Smith will be huge.

      2022-23 he had 67 points in 82 points. He is most likely won't hit 70 points again like in 18-19 but he can put 60. Plus, he missed most of last year on injury so he should be good to go this next year. There no other center depth that is ready for the 1C. Smith might get a chance to try it out but won't be there long-term. Also, in Couture's interviews, he has realized that he is the old vet and his here to shepherd the young kids. He said he realizes that teams don't want to trade for a 35 year old on his type of contract.

    • @JakefromEthnostatefarm
      @JakefromEthnostatefarm 18 дней назад

      @StanleyArmer-zj4yv I think that depends on the wingers on the 2nd line. If you put Kane & Tarasenko on the 2nd line you'll want Compher there because those 2 wingers are not defensive at all. Compher is good at puck retrieval & he has a nice pass. If you go Kane Debrincat I could definitely see Danielson on the 2nd line. The Cat is pretty solid defensively. Lines get juggled up so almost no one is locked in place except Larkin & Seider.

    • @undraftedhockeyfan
      @undraftedhockeyfan 18 дней назад

      @@jamesmiller6217 McLeod was a good add but I think they could have gotten more for Matt Savoie. If they would have played him this year, they could have showcased him and then moved him mid-year or at the trade deadline for more. Also, I think this move is Adams trying to speed up the rebuild. The problem is the Atlantic is too stack with good teams. Tampa is retooling but still competitive, Toronto has great pieces, and Florida is self-explanatory. Boston might be the one to slip but Buffalo still has to compete for that fourth spot with Detroit and Boston. To me, they just need to continue to focus on development and grow their guys. On the cap space, this is where they should utilize it and get some draft capital. If they don't want to use the pick, they can flip it for a better player.

They didn't have that stat he made that stat. His plus minus is more than Crosby and almost as much as Bergeron who by the way played in over 300 more games than Pavel. Honestly, Pavel was the best complete player of all time. I cannot think of another player on his level. Just think if he played just 100 percent offense. It was like 60 percent defense and 40 percent offense and his stick handling is off the charts. I don't think there has been a better stick handler. Just these things get overlooked. In 2012 he was the NHL best player in the World. Regarded by many of his peers. As the players voted. So, if he wasn't a first ballot HOF I mean it would be pure robbery. Molgilny needs to be next. He didn't have the individual awards like Pavel, but he was a pioneer in defecting to America. Plus, once Pavel left Detroit hasn't made the playoffs since. I mean that says so much. I mean Luc said it the best, he could have gotten an extra 50 points a season if he really wanted to but he was about being the most complete player in the world and he succeeded. You know pple are always talking about Ovi or Crosby but if I can pick one player to have as skill of hockey it would be Pavel 100 percent. @henrikuivanen2302 what else is Yzerman going to say? But clearly Newsy didn't agree. He had the lowest TOI/GP of any dman when he actually did play. This season he had 5 whole points in 38 games. He also had the 3rd worst xGA/60 after Walman and Seider, despite having the highest % of OZ starts amongst dmen. Tell me what he does so well that is deserving of that contract?

    • @undraftedhockeyfan
      @undraftedhockeyfan 21 день назад

      @@jennifermorris9985 Holl has two years left so waiving him now will frustrate the player and he will request a trade, which lowers his value even more. The goal for Holl is for him to get better so they can trade him or use him. He is a right handed defender, which is why he was overpaid and those are hard to come by. Newsy has to work with him a ton to refine his game and make it work for him. Also, waiving Holl would make Yzerman look bad and I don't think ownership will want to pay a guy that much to play in the minors.

    • @jennifermorris9985

Trading fan favorite Walman looked bad. Holl is 32, and I haven't seen a single person mock him as a regular in the lineup for this year. How is he supposed to increase his value for a trade? Would you rather play Holl or your young rookie that needs experience when rotating in the 7th Dman? And next year, you hopefully have ASP and Wallinder fighting for jobs. Just cut your losses now.

    • @JakefromEthnostatefarm
      @JakefromEthnostatefarm 20 дней назад

      @jennifermorris9985 I think they want to give him a chance this year because Chiarot had a good 2nd year & it's hard to think Holl could be any worse. If he survives this year, he only has 1 more left which makes him easy to move or if you buyout the length is only 2 or 3 years of penalty whereas if you do it now it's 4+years. That hurts our competitive windows in a few years. Holl can be rotated & don't forget our D this year was abnormally healthy. Most years we get banged up & need extra guys.
