I'm a chap from South East London, UK. Who's obsessed with making electronic music in my free time (in my shed). I've been into music all my life, different genres at different times, but only making music for the last few years. I'm still on a journey, and loving drawing inspiration from all the different music I've enjoyed throughout my life. All the gear I own has been paid for by me. I'm a long time G.A.S sufferer, but have got a bit of a handle on it recently. I'm not here to sell you anything, I'm here to make music. I do sometimes get a bit excited about new gear I buy, but I'm never going to directly sell you anything. I just enjoy making music on the best gear for my needs. Some days I feel comfortable calling myself a musician - Chilltronica Live performance
Sometimes music you make feels and sounds like proper music (what is proper music?) Only a few years ago I'd never even made a melody let alone create and perform something live and not make a total balls up of it. This one makes me feel like I'm not a fake. I am proud of this one. Hopefully you like it too ☺️

It might be a personal thing, but I just love creating complex, overlapping, harmonies and melodies (especially with LFOs and modulation). I'm definitely getting better too. So was out cycling yesterday, and a spider must have dropped out of a tree onto me. I din't see a beee or wasp fly in. For me anyway. I've owned a lot of synths. None of them allow me to get the sounds I want quicker than with the Syntakt. It's just the nuts. Obviously here it's being wonderfully complimented by the Digitakt 2 and the MPC One, but the sounds I can get from it are just so pleasing to my ears anyway and no other synth comes close to the efficiency of working with the Syntakt. Love it, is it possible to hook the twister straight into the digitakt and syntakt without a computer or an mpc device ?
Elektron boxes aren't USB hosts so can't plug stuff directly into them. They need a USB MIDI host or computer as fa as I know.

Nice work. I'm also in UK and getting to grips with the D2 a little now. You can certainly lose yourself on the dark grey days over here haha.
@@RobotClinic ha can lose yourself on the sunny days too 🤣 I'm not sure I'll ever be fully to grips with the D2. It seems like it's basically bottomless what you can do with it. I find I'm barely scratching the surface most of the time. Have fun with yours!

@@mildheadwound the Twister is just controlling the MPC. It's pretty simple to set up with it. I've been too lazy (and enjoying this set up) to try and map it to the Elektron boxes 😁

I don't know if my dawless jams are better or not, but I do know it's 1000% more enjoyable. Something magicical about having it at your fingertips🎉
@@GreyDintZ totally! It's the unknown that makes it exciting. I'll practice for a bit and come up with a basic structure and some nice little tricks (that I invariably forgot to do when I'm recording the video) but it's also the little happy accidents you often make during the performance. No jam is ever the same and that's what makes it a unique experience. I can't get enough of it 😁

I'd go step further into the Modular Route. 👽 Something about electricity is intriguing to get a Drum Sound from. 👽 But alas, equipment is not cheap. 👽Nothing like hitting, turning, and experimenting. 👽 Music Wonder World. 👾
I can't allow myself to get into modular. It's taken me years of buying and selling (and terrible GAS) to get to my current rig. I battle with a hatred of messy cables and routing anger too. Ultimately I don't trust myself when it comes to the 'just one more' aspect of modular. I'm sure I'd enjoy it a bit and I'm pretty into the science of sound and electrons but I know it wouldn't be a healthy place for me to be 😁

wow this is mesmerizing! i like your style. how exactly do you use your mpc one in your setup?
Thanks, glad you like it 🙌🏼 I use the MPC as an external synth unit. I just create a few tracks and then enter MIDI notes to the grid either with the buttons on the Digitakt or the keyboard I have under my desk. I just set them to 8 bars and use it for extra sounds. Every time I use the MIDI Fighter Twister thats controlling the tracks on the MPC (roughly the last 3rd of the video). It's a bit overkill having an MPC like this but it's great for having multiple synth sounds that I can modulate easily while performing. I love the Syntakt but I also want a synth that can do polyphony and also has more internal FX. If Akai made a much smaller MPC Mini (Digitakt size) I'd be all over it. I'm not a finger drummer, so could basically take those away and I'd be happy.

Super nice!!! By the way, have you noticed that the key lights on your Digitakt II are much dimmer compared to your Syntakt? I just want to make sure it’s not just mine acting up. My Syntakt’s lights are much brighter when set to the maximum.

This is excellent I’m watching all your videos and thoroughly enjoying them. Love the video game vibes on this one. I have MPC one, Digitakt and Digitone but haven’t figured out how I want to use them all together yet, would be interesting in how you set it all up and what your processes are.

Its pretty simple to set up (when you know how, I guess most things are simple). I'm hopefully going to do a routing and workflow video soon. I've started the prep for it. Yeah. I have GAS too. I just ordered a MPC One + smh. Why? Idk. I dont even like MPCs I already have a 707 TR8S Syntaxt and Digitakt 2 with a Tascam 12. Plus Volcas and Pocket operators. Smh. I think i brought a MPC for attention and credibility. Idk. Its RED. IDK. When i jam with Elektron. People ask IS THAT A MPC?? In my head, i scream. NOOOO!! Smh. @@BDKabrini GAS away. I'm here to share the burden 😁 I took, GASsed on the MPC. I sold a load of gear and was left with just the Takts. The Syntakt is an amazing synth but I need something else for polyphonic sounds and more rompler type duties. The MPC One+ fits the bill. I don't currently use anything on it apart from sequencing midi notes on the grid for a few extra tracks. It works well for me. Is it overkill? Probably. But it's fun. Enjoy yours when it shows up

I'd say the Syntakt is pretty basic when it comes to sound design. The EX5R I just got has so many more insane layers for sound design.
I had to trick myself to like the syntakt… only when routed through some filter or effect unit
@@bryanbytes I know what you mean, it takes a lot of effort to get to know it. I'm happy with the internal FX but would love the chorus from Digitone and Digitakt2 and maybe another effect or two.
