@@owizlo Thanks! It's up for sale on eBay right now. I didn't think I'd ever sell it, but the II's have really highlighted it's shortcomings. Mostly the 4 pages, 2 not 3 LFOs, and the mute button is completely different to the II's, so I keep pressing the wrong button. Also the lack of polyphony is killing me. Digitone II just seems to want to play as many chords and simultaneous sounds as it can. It just feels very open and unrestricted. The Syntakt is amazingly quick to get sounds going but I always felt like it was being held back by lack of any sort of polyphony. I think I might regret it a bit but so far I'm not missing it as the IIs just seem to be able to do it all.

if you need 128 steps on Syntakt, you could use DT2 to sequence it, via MIDI !

@bubuAudio that's a good point 😁 sadly now my mind is made up (and TBH, could do with a bit of cash after Christmas) so it's going. Maybe one day (STII) might be in my life, but for now, it's minimalisation for me 😎

@@johndonnachie9338 that's just to do with the frame rate of the camera. I forgot to adjust it to stop the flickering. But it's strange it's only the middle one. But I guess it's to do with light fall off towards the edges of the lens etc

@@dudeseriously79 ha thanks. I don't use overbridge at all. I tried it once years ago and found it was really laggy on my old Mac. I also didn't really see how it would work for me. I don't really want to do any work on my stuff after I've recorded it. Not like I am going to release it and working on music (live jams) afterwards feels like work for me. I prefer living for the moment, record and move on. I'd that makes sense ☺️

DN2 and ST are a great paring. I mean, they're great on their own so together they;re immense! 😊

@ I had the Digitone 1 for about 3 years and miss it everyday so it’s pretty hard not to hit that buy button. Maybe I’ll treat myself at the start of the new year lol 😅

I sold most of my Elektron gear just before the DT2 came out so I got that and blown away, then the DN2 comes out, only a matter of tome before I get one. Plus I’ll probably add the Syntakt back or because that would so good. If they ever do. Syntakt 2 well that would be off the scale good

@fergusfurlong DN2 is really great. It just feels like the DN but with far wider possibilities but also a lot easier to use as the new machines and more tracks make it a dream machine. The Syntakt feels quite limited now, I still love it but I'd jump right on a STII if it came out. 8 tracks digi, 8 tracks analog with some polyphony, new machines and effects and 8 pages. It would be my dream box. Let's hope it is on the way. It won't be for a while I'm guessing

@@alanhumble662 sort of. I usually just make sounds, jam, tweak, jam, make more sounds. The whole process is fairly organic. Just make it sound decent then work out some basic 'parts' that I'll perform for the video. I often forget stuff I'd practiced. I used to write down a little plan but then that made things less freeform. So now I just do it and hope it's ok in the end 😆

Syntakt has a special power that neither of the 2’s have. The analogue fix block and the ability to route and modulate external audio. Got all three just to see.

@ nice - keep it up. I have the OG Digitakt that i pair with a Vermona Perfourmer (best synth ever), Perkons and some modular. But sometimes I wish I had the Digitone simply for the sequencer and ease to do quick automations.

@@marius9. Thanks! Glad you like my stuff. Yeah there's a lot of guitar demos but not much in the way of synths. I did like the RV200. I say did, because I sold it. Not really because it was bad but because I go though GAS phases and it was just part of my ever changing requirements 😃 the shimmer and some of the modulated effects were really nice. It's decent as it has lots of effects and controls. The cost to performance ratio it good. Get it used and you can find some bargain

It's a really fantastic set up. I feel that all the itches for other synths is gone with these three (although I'd love an analog poly synth, will have to wait for Syntakt II 😜). Hope you enjoy yours as much. The TR cables are from Amazon (UK) made by Chord, they're guitar patch cables (60cm and 100cm) 👍

@@harlanmiller6396 thank you! Yep 8 bars. Digitone II and Digitak II have 8 pages now. Syntakt only has 4 but you can change the tempo to 1/2 to get longer loops so 128 steps (you just lose a little resolution)

I've never used overbridge to record separate tracks. That makes it more like work of me. I just enjoy recording (with a bit of mastering with Ozone and moving on to the next thing.

Go for the Digitone II first. Worth it for FM Drum alone

@@optikronix it really depends if you're a sample or a synth person predominantly. I'd say go for the Digitone II as it's bloody excellent. The DNII is also excellent mind you. DNII feels like a totally new box. 16 tracks is so great

I got them from Amazon (UK) they're Chord | Audio Patch Lead 6.3mm Mono Jack Plug to 6.3mm Mono Jack Plug | Mixed Colour. I've got the 50cm ones between the boxes and the 1m ones from the Digitakt to my audio interface

Dope track. 🔥 Syntakt is my all time favourite Elektron box to date but I think DN2 will be the next addition to my setup, just waiting a bit longer for early bugs to be squashed.

@touchthatdial same for me but I think that's changed. DNII feels like all of ST's good bits but made better. 8 pages, 3 LFOs per voice, 16 voices makes Syntakt feel like old tech. It feels stunted when used with the new II versions. Still love it though

@Primo-frame that's a shame. You do need a good amount of time to invest to get the best out of them. Good thing about Elektron gear is you can just turn them on and everything will be as you left it, so you can just dip in and out for quick sessions much easier than most gear

@@dudeseriously79 good choice I'd say. I owed the Hydrasynth desktop and it was ok but never loved it. It just seemed very harsh and quite boring to programme. The DNII is like 16 tracks of Hydrasynth. Obviously no polyphonic aftertouch but unless you're a keyboard player (I'm not) it's no drama. Similar effects can be achieved with the LFOs on the DNII. You'll have a lot of fun, it's phenomenal

Hydra is a great synth, too. Mine brings me so much joy.

@@danknots ha glad you liked it. Just messing around as you do. I don't actually have the KOII anymore. But I had it sending transport controls to my other gear via MIDI and I had the output going into the Syntakt from what I can remember. I did a video recently explaining audio and midi routing but this was specifically for Elektron boxes but might be a bit of help 🤷‍♂️

@danknots KOII is a lot of fun. The punch in FX are good. Not really the same performance stuff on Elektron gear but I much prefer it as it feels a lot more robust and they're all similar in workflow so using 1, 2 or 3 together feels like they're one instrument.
