How Many Chin Ups Can a 66-year-old Curmudgeon Do?
A chin-up update from your friendly neighborhood curmudgeon. For anyone who cares. (If not, keep on scrolling!)
Last video, I eked out 15 chin-ups. Just barely.
What changes did I implement in my workout routine in the last few weeks and did it help?
How many chin-ups can the curmudgeon do today?
The answers are just a click away.
Whether you watch or not, have a great day. Keep on moving, keep on building muscle. You'll be glad you did. If I can do it, you can do it. You just have to get started.

I posted this original tune a few months ago. Well, I changed the title, upped the tempo, added a bass track (MIDI) and harmonies, and for the first time, tried programming in a MIDI drum track. (With apologies to my friends and connections who actually *know* how to play these instruments. :) Of course, I am still - and will always be - a work in progress. Here's where I am at this stage of my...
Curmudgeon Battles Bad Genes
Просмотров 17Месяц назад
My ongoing battle with "bad" (=longevity-challenged) genes continues. Rather than worrying about what's beyond my control, I am focused on what is within my control: my choice of whether to exercise, eat right - and not drink alcohol - on a daily basis. My method may or may not work, but I refuse to be a victim of my own genes, so at least I can go down swinging...and pushing...and pulling. It ...

I recently saw a short clip of Ed Sheeran talking about his "knack" for song writing. I haven't paid much attention to Sheeran's music, but I know he is a popular and prolific song writer. Sheeran said that, like everyone, when he started writing songs, he sucked. He said he just started writing them, and the more songs he wrote, the better he got. So I am going to follow Ed's advice and keep w...

Here’s an old tune that my cousin inspired me to re-learn after we jammed together last month. Some folks love this song, others not so much. Always a sucker for a good story, I am in the "love it" camp. Well, yesterday my wife left me home alone completely unsupervised. So I broke out the old green screen and recording equipment, and let it rip! Worth noting that in an interview back in 2004, ...

    Fun to see this for me Tim...1 because I used to race bicycles in the 1980's and 90's...And even after I decided to stick with architecture, I rode and trained like I was still preparing for the Tour de France...well, somewhat--but I did do many situps and pushups daily. And just a few days ago, when I got a glimpse of upper body in the mirror--I thought 'no time like now to get back into that habit'. And I think I opened a beer to think on it... By the way, my claim to fame in cycle racing was the time I was racing against then 3-time Tour de France winner Greg Lemond...I was right on his back tire--I could have spit on his tire I was so close to him. Then, the gun went off, the race started and I never saw him again...well, I saw him signing autographs at the finish line after I finished and put my bike away. True story.

    Hello Tim, I wanted to comment here rather than in the Facebook group with all the judging... I share your appreciation for this spot and I hoped you would enjoy my story... I could write a book. My family moved to the big island when I was 9yrs old, 1976... Ahalanui warm pond used to be private property, closed to the public and fenced in.... For three years, 78-79-80, during the summer, my grandfather and I were the caretakers for this (Deluz) property and the adjoining (Allison) property... So when I was 11-12-13 yrs old I basically lived there... During those years there was a wooden raft floating in the middle of the pond and I would set up my tent and sleep out there on the raft at night under the stars... Stay out there during rain storms and read books... And spend the sunny days tending the property and exploring the cliffs, picking opihi, and fishing. I learned to swim there... I learned to fend for myself, how to survive with only a pair of shorts and a pocket knife and a box of matches until the adults came back on the weekend ... I retired my Haole feet and never wore shoes or slippah... I have so many memories there but I couldn't EVEN tell you what the inside of the house looked like. I was so sad to hear of it's destruction... Many times I have told my son that we would go visit there and he would see where I changed from a boy to a man. Now... It's just these vivid movies in my head that I hope I can share with him through my stories. Anyway... I saw your post and your 14 years and what it meant to you. For me it was a lifetime ago and it meant everything... .... 🤙🏼🤙🏽🤙🏾 Aloha braddah

    This, THIS is the real Japan🇯🇵! Lovely country. Since someone mentioned the past, I'm forced to clear the air here. All that WW2 stuff was an aberration and not their true nature. They were just trying to be more "western" back then, sad but true. Besides, the military had hijacked Japan in the 30s, exploiting tough times as American/Western sanctions on Japan along with anti-Asian racism made emigration very hard, so its not like the public in Tokyo wanted war. The Japanese are a naturally pacifist and amicable people!✌☮

    Japan is really great but for their own people. Dont get me wrong ,its a great country. But when u move to japan for work ,u will see how uncomfortable they feel around foreigners and most of the time u have to face racism too.

    • @JapanInsight
      @JapanInsight 3 года назад

      I've lived here for many years, and have been dealing with Japan for 44 years. There are pluses and minuses to being a foreigner here. To me, the pluses greatly outweigh the minuses. In some ways they treat foreigners better than they treat each other - they cut us a lot more slack. Some foreigners complain that they will never be "insiders", and with a large segment of the populace, it's true. I see it as an advantage, since it means I don't have to live inside Japan's oppressive "pressure cooker" of a society. (I feel sorry for the Japanese sometimes.) In my case, I have lots of Japanese friends, mostly artists and musicians, who are not "typical" nor are they "racist", so I have the best of both worlds. One last point: most of the racism here is not malicious, it is based on ignorance. I deal with it by showing my humanity, showing kindness, and through those actions, I've changed many people. Not trying to "fix" Japan, just changing people one at a time. It works for me...
