@@TheSofaSimGeezer By the way, I am blown away by the difference in top end speed that reducing the cooling vents on the brakes make. About 5 mph top end.

I'm not sure how accurately the game models that feature, but as the brakes rarely/never seem to overheat there's no reason to have the ducts open. The radiator opening is different, many cars - but not all, will blow up if it's below 45%. On short tracks you can get a lap or two in before something goes bang, but not at Nurburgring!

That is true, and it's a shame. On the bright side, none of the course existed at all until afaik someone made a mod for GTR2, and then someone else converted it to rFactor, and then someone else converted it to Assetto Corsa, just so I (or you!) can drive it in VR :)

@@TheSofaSimGeezer nah the course has been there for over 100 years. also there are much better versions of the course to play on

The real course has been there for a while - but I was talking about the mod for Assetto Corsa of course duh. And which games have the full course, F1 cars and VR? LMK and I'll make a vid - or post a link to the vid of you averaging about 155 in an open wheeler round the full version so I can be impressed.

Doh thanks :) I mis-read the circuit map (my eyesight isn't the best) - it actually says "Craner Curves", and a quick Google says it's named after Fred Cramer, a bike racer who opened the circuit in 1933. I've watched BTCC from Donny on the tv enough - I've obviously mis-heard that commentary as well because I had 'Cramer' in my mind. Probably going deaf as well as blind - don't get old :) I'll see if I can correct the subs.

I had to take off some aero to set those times, my splits say I could go a 'bit' faster, my body disagrees on the grounds of advanced age, but I'm trying to convince it that it can :) Tell me you're under 50 and have been racing more than a year, so I won't feel too bad when you do beat me?!

@@TheSofaSimGeezer there's definitely a little bit more left in it... Try to increase the downforce a tad, you went a little bit too low for my liking, but your Südschleife sector definitely shows it works on that part of the track... Some short shifting on the exits and you may very well extract at least another second. And well got my rig in August, and just turned 23 last month!

Happy bday for last month :) I've been trying to improve my time on the modern North Loop (I was 5th until Wiess and rurEE absolutely smashed it), and have had to up the aero a bit for that circuit, I'll have another go at the historic versions with this setup, either when I actually improve my time, or just give up :) I also got my current rig about the same time as you (but playing on Xbox), and then finally got a PC and VR at Christmas. It's seriously awesome, but as I turned 30 before you were born it's also *hard* - wish I'd had this sort of gear when I was your age! Good luck with the lap times :)

Ta muchly :) Not too shabby for this old boy, in fact I've just taken another couple of tenths off this record and there's still a second or two fat to be trimmed. That's probably for drivers faster (and younger!) than me though, so I'll enjoy my record while it lasts!

Thanks, I'm not too bad for an old geezer on his sofa who only really got into sim racing last year in my 50s :) There are lots of faster racers out there - they just haven't tried this car around this track in this game yet.

That's very kind - unfortunately driving this car fast requires so much of my limited mental capacity that there's not much left for useful or interesting commentary - talking without crashing is hard enough:)
