Installing a Ludwig “Baseball Bat” Muffler on Top Hat & Cane Snare Drum
Просмотров 1486 месяцев назад
I installed a Ludwig “baseball bat” muffler on a Ludwig snare drum custom-wrapped in Ludwig’s pre-WWII “Top Hat and Cane” wrap resurrected from history by master drum craftsman Jack Lawton. It was not a strictly necessary endeavor, but I had the parts and the drum, so I thought I would make the drum unique. I viddy’ed it in case anyone wants to see how to put one of those mufflers on another drum.

Lead guitar????????Not there……
iPhone on other side simply can’t get it. It’s always this way when I put my phone somewhere/anywhere I can find a spot. I’m sure FOH was good. I do these just to study bits I want to check in my own playing. Sometimes I find things I want to clean up. In this case, though, the end of Aqualung has never been played better by anybody on drums.
Hello, You showed us everything except how to install the parts into the drum
You're so good Mark...💕
Thanks, Sam!
That's some fine drumming there!
hi Mark I appreciate you showing us this but if you want to make this really accurate where it's more scientific you first hit the drum very close to the microphone and then you walked away from the microphone and mounted the drum you need to Simply hold the drum right next to the Mount play it in almost exact position it would be if it was attached to them out and then just move it slightly on Santa Mount tighten the mount and then play it and make sure you're hitting it with the same hardness firmness or striking it the same you know what I'm trying to say and then you can tell the difference because if you're hitting it close to the microphone it's going to be way louder than if you walk away and mounted on the drum just from the distance from the microphone not sure you were aware of that when you did it I'll be at good intentions why don't you try it that way and maybe we'll notice more of a difference and what would be great is if you also mounted on a snare stand right next to the bass drum that way we can see how it sounds on the bass drum as opposed to being mounted on a snare stand
Thanks. I now have that drum with a RIMS mount on the lugs, with the shell mount removed altogether. I'm won't be doing a new test. Suffice to say that the bass drum tom-tom holder seriously affects drum tone, for both the 8x12's and the 9x13's -- I tested both sizes. It's especially noticeable with low tuning (loose heads), which is what I use and the more "modern" sound. The old-school "Buddy Rich tuning" (extremely tight tom heads to get stick rebound) is affected less.
Really nice when Jon joins in on guitar
this is why I don't use tom mounts, just a snare stand. thanks for showing the difference.
Wow! That is very noticeable!
Beautiful job Mark! That's my dream bud! Can't wait to move down there!
