Clogged ink???😩 long term TEST of thick & shimmer inks
I love Fountainfeder x Octopus Fluids Grünkohl!
Just discovered Birmingham and so glad to find your content! Love these rich blues! Think I’ll pick up a bottle and give Birmingham a try. Thank you!
I never saw anyone do paper dolls like you do and I just wanted to tell you that I think you're very talented and you may have some post-traumatic stress going on..💜💜♒♒🪐🪐
@@aquariusgoldbond2697 lol!!!😂 you cracked me up! My husband said the same thing about me. It’s soooo much fun to play around with paper- cheap entertainment! People ask me if I’m making some of these dolls for my kids but I’m like “no, for me.” They don’t really say anything after that! I’m glad you “get me!”💕 Thanks so much for watching! Are you gonna make some???
😇❤️🙏🙌
I’ve always loved the color green, in general. And I particularly like green in both fountain pens and inks. I’ve markedly downsized both my pen and bottled ink collection (never once bought sample vials). I used to own very many different green inks of choice. Today, without checking to see, I reckon the green inks I have are the following: Montblanc Irish Green J. Herbin Lierre Sauvage Aurora Green Sailor Ink Studio 967 Sailor Shikiori Tokiwa Matsu Platinum Forest Black Yours here is a pretty large array of green inks. I don’t like PR and FWP inks, in general. But DeAtramentis is a brand I’d like to try. The green I see here would be a good place to start. I really like the BPC green here. I’ve found that I actually like best dark, murky, mossy type of greens - even green-blacks. Thanks for showcasing the ones you did.,
@@sajjadhusain4146 The Sailor inks sound divine! My samples are all from Pen Club- such a great place to try out new inks! We try to wear dark colored clothing because inks are flying around the room! 😂 I mentioned the Monteverde Olivine- forgot to sample it! I also found my J Herbin Vert Empire! Olivine is lovely- some nib creep due to saturation. J Herbin is lovely- dry in some pens. My husband swears by MB Irish Green and Diamine Dark Forest, which I love. I didn’t sample the Dark Forest because it goes towards black more than green. Inks are a hobby unto themselves!
@@KitchenCounterCrafts The Pen Club sounds very cool. Is it an all-ladies-only place? Do you show and talk about pens, too? I’m not alone in having complaints about the Monteverde Olivine ink. The color is very nice. But the ink has shown a tendency to form crusts in the mouth, around the top rim of the bottle. And even on the nib. Dries out causing hard starts within or less than a day of not using the pen. I emptied my bottle down the sink, sadly. I forgot about Diamine Dark Forest. I finished two of those wedge shaped anniversary bottles. I really like it. Looks a dark-green blue (teal-y) color in swabs, but looks a very dark seaweed green out of a nib and on the page, to my eyes anyway. The other color groups I like beside green are browns, burgundy and blue blacks. I’ve become extremely selective about my ink purchases now. Bottled ink inventory can just as easily get out of control and overwhelming as the pen collection often does - for a lot of us. I did order for a new Delta pen, though. the Delta Montepreta. It should arrive by the time I return home from China the coming weekend.
Aww I’m so glad the Cadillac green inspired you!! We can get you some more greens too- RO Hemp and Diamine Sherwood Green 🤭 I agree with you on FWP, was super disappointed in how it worked in my pens too!
@@LadyMadamHarp I loved it! So very pretty and the sheen is a surprise! I got a sample of the RO Hemp and it was pretty but on the lighter side of an olive green. Have you tried Monteverde olive green? So beautiful!
@@LadyMadamHarp BTW, I’d love to try the Diamine- I love all their inks!
@@KitchenCounterCrafts I’ll bring the diamine for sure!
@ thank you! 🤗Hope you’re feeling better!
@ heading to work tomorrow masked.. just in case
FWP Edwards Gardens is a favourite as is Herbin Emeraude de Chivor. I'm more into emerald, teal and turquoise than subdued, duller grey greens but I'm getting more into greys and browns so who knows. I'm learning. 😇💙🙏🙌
On the De Atramentis site Charles Dickens is called "Cement Grey" while Apple is called "Apple Green". Apple looks much lighter on their website so maybe it's mislabelled? I added a link to the Charles Dickens ink but the post was removed.
I also wonder about the difference between Private Reserve "Cadillac Green" and "Blue Suede". Maybe one is leaning more blue?
@@sushanart aaaah!!! Emerald de Chivor!!!!!!! I’ve been wanting that ink for a couple of years! I totally forgot about it and it’s almost always sold out most places! I haven’t seen FWP Edwards Gardens. I’m all in with sepia and browns! They lend themselves well to antique looking writing and giving me that throwback feeling of being like Jane Austen when I write with a dip pen. It’s just beautiful! So… which one would you choose?
Edwards Gardens is more blue leaning and Emeraude de Chivor more green, if I remember correctly this late at night. I'm a little more partial to Edwards Gardens, but not much. ☺️
@@KitchenCounterCrafts aaaaahhh you don’t have emerald de Chivor!? I’m bringing you a sample at one club next month!
I have none of these.
Me neither. 😊
@sushanart I guess because I have a lot of sheening and shimmer inks.cant get enough of those!
@@tbayless8324 I first was into shimmer and sheen but now I'm also getting more and more interested in shading inks. There's so much fun inks out there. 😊
@@tbayless8324 time to get you some!!! The green ink is so soothing on the eyes on either cream or white paper
@@KitchenCounterCrafts I have green inks, but mine are screaming green inks sheening, shimmering...YAY!!!
Very cute!!!
@@tbayless8324 thank you, friend!🌲
@@KitchenCounterCrafts Oh You bet!!!😄😁😆
Nice video. My pilot Decimo is labeled as a Capless. And the reason for your hard start is the nib section didn’t have ink in it since you filled your converter with the syringe. You should have pointed the nib downward for at least 5 minutes to let the ink work its way through the feed.
@@heatherhammerquist6239 Thank you so much for watching! I truly appreciate your tip! I didn’t even think about that! I love, love these pens! The clicking is terribly satisfying & I have to resist the urge during meetings! What nib do you have? Do you use yours often?
Those are amazing
Thank you!😊 I’ll save one for you!
All seem to love the 823 more but I like the look of the 74 so much more, I’m just not into gold at all 😅
@@Chaosflo-kc9fh I can totally understand that! It’s more about the feel of it. There’s a noticeable difference between the two pens- not just in the nib quality but also the upgrade of acrylic. I have to say- you won’t lose on either purchase! I love them both!!!
For me it's Pelikan without any doubt. They are also ~40% cheaper.
Pelikan are quite lovely and so highly collectible. I love it when you have a pen and it goes up in value! Which Bird do you have? Nib? What do you love most about it? 😍
This is a super helpful comparison! Appreciate the transparency. Especially when it comes to saving money and going with the 823. Definitely think I will save up for it. So far most seem to love it, based on the reviews I’ve seen. Thank you!
@@itszoway22 thank you so much for watching! My husband has an 823 & I have my beloved 823. We both use them almost daily and would freak out if something happened to this pen. I like it better than the more expensive pens I have! What nib are you going to get?
@ you have a great channel! I’m thinking to get a fine nib, but I was a little inbetween a medium and fine to be honest since a medium would be a western fine. Right now I have a LAMY Safari in fine and a sailor slim in medium. Suggestions?
@ oh goodness! That’s a tough decision! I tho it depends on what paper you’re mostly using and what you prefer. I write on regular, copy paper or composition books for work. I hand write notes, use my pens for Bible study and letter writing. I lean towards Fine and Extra Fine nibs because I can write on any paper, without the ink bleeding through. It also allows me to write small in margins or for note taking (vanishing point Fine is super sweet for notes during work meetings). If you want to see more of your ink color, maybe medium would be good. If you’re writing in general, maybe fine? BTW, I also have a video on my FA nib that I got on my 823 from Pen Sachi (straight from Japan)! It’s a DELIGHT!!! There , I just added another twist for you!😏
Thank you for this review, you are correct by differentiating each pen the way you did. Vanishing Point is the high end pen with a gold nib, and the Capless is just a steel nib. You can clearly the difference when searching the pens.
@@lionace1625 I appreciate you! Thank you! I’ve been looking on eBay and almost bid on one that was priced at over $100 and it was a steel nib! The descriptions on these online are important! Sometimes sellers won’t say it’s a gold nib, so I just don’t look at those! Better yet, purchase from a reputable dealer and give them the good business, right? What VP nib(s) do you have?
@KitchenCounterCrafts because of your video I'm preparing to get my first one. I have been using a Majohn A1 to get a feel for the design before making the financial commitment. I'm going to get a steel nib then I will eventually upgrade to a gold nib if I enjoy it. It's a way to save money instead of buying two separate pens.
I got one and I’ve been trying so hard to get it to work but it won’t do a thing. What should I do?
@@karamills6405 I’m so sorry to hear that! The first thing to do is to look at the cartridge, pull it out and make sure there’s nothing obstructed. Next, try screwing it into place- I really had to push mine in! You can then give it a good shake (like the old fashioned thermometers) but do that in the sink (or while wearing black- I’ve gotten ink on my clothes by flinging my pen around). If that doesn’t work- Do you have any fountain pen ink? You could try dipping the nib in and that can help get the flow going. I also want to encourage you- don’t give up on fountain pens! They are amazing for writing! Do you have any other fountain pens?
The nib is amazing. In fact, it writes better than my Sailor and Pelikan nibs (Realo, M805). It's crisp, clean, fine. The line variation is exquisite. It works on regular paper, with little feathering. You can't say that about too many fountain pens. I have removed the nibs and placed them in other pens. I also eye-droppered it but it leaked.
@@BerndtNorten what a great idea- to use this lovely nib for other pens! Can’t believe it’s better than the other nibs you mentioned. It’s been the reason why I’ve shied away from the Sailor brand, but recently bought a Pro Gear. Heaven inked it yet because I have too many pens inked right now! Thanks for making me feel better about my eye dropper fiasco! 😂 Which Sailor Pens do you have? What are the nibs like in your opinion?
Id write with the small one like a regular pen alot tbh
@@LEO19495 same! The big one is huge! I see why it’s for posters! I love the smaller 2 for swatching inks. I guess I can stop using stops now lol
This set was mainly manufactured in the 40's and 50's.
@@Bergerons_Review Thank you! I’ve been trying to find that info! It’s interesting that they aren’t more expensive! Kind of a great deal for the quality! Do you have/use parallel or dip pens?
🖋
I have a love hate relationship with with Diamine Sepia. It's a gorgeous colour but it becomes very crusty in the pen.
@@ikonographics same!!! I’ve found nib creep with several sepia inks but this wasn’t too bad. I’ve heard that humidity and seasonal temperatures can affect that as well? Have you found any inks that work (in this color)?
Aren't those interesting.
@@tbayless8324 right? I was thinking about getting the Kakumori nib but couldn’t cough up the $75-100 for a dip pen. This set was under $25 for 4! I’m pretty thrilled!
@@KitchenCounterCrafts I think Kakumori is out of reach, there are always work arounds.
What a fun find! I love my parallel pens. I did not know about this brand.
@@FromStudioZ honestly, I happened to run across them. They weren’t very expensive and I’ve seen several on eBay!
@@FromStudioZ what do you use your parallel pens for?
@KitchenCounterCrafts I sometimes use them for lettering and mark making. Mainly I have just played around with them. I also like the “half sizes” (which are becoming more readily available). Lately I am enjoying my 1.5 size. I like using empty cartridges so I can fill with whatever color of fountain pen ink I want.
@ There were several sets on eBay when I purchased them. I’m guessing it was a fairly common item. They’re super sturdy
Beautiful ink! Hope you bring to pen club for us to ooh and ahh over
@@LadyMadamHarp great suggestion! I’ll bring you a sample !!!
@ aww yay!
piston filler 🖋 Hey stranger, glad to see you're still addicted to gorgeous inks and tea. Am just in from a hideously exhausting work shift, will reply more after hibernating for a few days but try Medusa on different papers, amazing what a difference it makes. Some of my inks are completely monotone on one paper then same ink is bright and dazzling with sheen on different paper. Rhodia makes them flat and dull, Clairefontaine brings out their shimmer and makes them vivid. I used to think it was all about ink colour, now i realise it's all about paper! Also, take a look at Octopus inks Medusa / Dragon / Phoenix / Fairy shimmer collection, you'll die. Glad you're well and excited about your ink colours. That copper sheen that looks wet is stunnnnnnnning. Goodnight 😴 😴
@@MaryShelleysNib ohhh noooo… now you’ve given me several rabbit trails to run in! I’m falling deeper into the rabbit hole for sure! All I can say though is that inks are way cheaper than pens! 😂 thank you for the recommendations. Christmas is right around the corner, so I might just have to get one or two! I also appreciate your advice on the different papers. I love the way they show up- even when it’s a difference of white versus cream paper! Great suggestions! I’m glad you’re doing well and I hope you get a chance to take some time off work and enjoy writing, refilling pens or just enjoying your time off! 😍
You do not have a problem writing with anything. Next pen show in Dallas, I am going to write with those pens and add more to my collection.
Yes!!! Do it! These pens are perfect right out of the box! They’re incredible with their customer service and located right here in the USA 🇺🇸
Hi, Could u help choose a fountain pen gift budget is around 250
@@omniarefaat5107 yes! That’s a super great gift budget! Does the person like Japanese pens or European? Are they a beginner or further advanced in their hobby? Do they use fountain pens for every day writing? Style? Classic or artistic (=more colors)?
@ well he is a beginner. I don’t know much about his preferences but I know he didn’t like the lamy 2000 and he like the lamy studio. He likes more of a sleek simple design. He won’t use it everyday at all. I don’t think he prefers either Japanese or European
@ Since you watched this video, the Italian pens I love are Pineider pens. They have excellent customer service and their pens are designed by Dante Delvecchio (who was the co-founder & main designer for Visconti). Their Avatar UR pens cannot be scratched and look very sleek. Their twin tank pens are vac fill & have a back up system if you run out of ink. Those are less than $200. Another option is Leonardo Momento Zero - great pens and great customer service. For Japanese pens, you get a gold nib! Take a look at the Pilot Custom 74 (I love mine) or the Platinum 3776 (I love that also). For an American pen: I recommend Franklin Christoph- they a lifetime warranty and an incredible amount of customized nibs! How fun to choose such a great gift- you won’t lose on any of these!
@@KitchenCounterCrafts thanks a lot . Now I am also new to fountain pens but I hear good things about sailor pro gear and gear slim and pilot e95s , pelikan m200 and waterman expert is any of these better than the pilot 74 u recommended? We live in Germany if that’s something to consider
@ oh boy! I’m very biased about Pilot pens. I was thinking about your question and if it was me, I would recommend getting a pen with a gold nib- it makes the gift even more special! The Japanese pens will have gold nibs- you can’t go wrong! The only thing I would suggest is to compare the sizes and if you’re purchasing for a man, the longer pen will be better for writing. The sailor and e95s (Pilot elite) are smaller but lovely pens for writing! Pilot Elite 95s versus the Pilot Namiki Falcon ruclips.net/video/feB2kannFuc/видео.html
Very nice flow! 😇💜🙏🙌
@@sushanart it’s a nice flow for a F nib! Very smooth since they tune their nibs💕
Why choose? Have both for when one runs out of ink! Besides, they look gorgeous together. The iconic, pistonic German duo.
@@arnaupuig5097 I love the way you think 💕
@@KitchenCounterCrafts It's the consumerist way to think. LoL.
@@arnaupuig5097 I’ve been told that people are moving away from the minimalist lifestyle and going for the maximalist- I’m glad as a pen user/collector! 😂
😇💜🙏🙌
so after experiencing both.. I ended up selling the Pilot Custom 74 and keeping the Platinum. I have discovered that the Platinum nibs are my absolute favorites in Medium or Broad. I had bad luck with the Pilot 74. But I do love my Pilot Custom 823, which is heads and tales better than the 74 in my opinion.
@@impish22 oh wow! That’s really good to know! Interesting how each pen has a different personality and you really have to get similar nibs to be able to compare. I’ve been keeping a record and it’s showing me which ones I ink more than others. I agree with you on that awesome 823. I’d buy it again if I ever (gasp!) lost it! Which one (platinum or 823) would get replaced by you?
@@KitchenCounterCrafts I have to have them both !!!
It's just not my kind of pen. But thanks for the review
@@impish22 thanks for watching! What’s your grail???
Nice looking pen, looks very business instead of having alot gold accents. I love long nibs, they feel like you don't have to somewhat fight writing with them like some short #5's . Seems #6's and larger are smooth writers.
@@tbayless8324 I love me some black with gold accents! 😆 it really is an understated pen though. It doesn’t scream like $700+! That nib is super smooth to write with. I’ve heard others say that theirs needed tuning. I’d cray if I spent that much money and had to pay extra for the nib to feel right 😭😭😭
@@KitchenCounterCrafts so true! Return to sender.. Address unknown.. 😂
If your friend stripped the threads, TWSBI is pretty good about selling replacement parts. I messed up the barrel on my Eco, and they sent me a new one no problem. It cost maybe five dollars...I forget exactly because I had them send me a new feed and nib too. It totaled about thirteen dollars.
@@Richard-1776 wow! That’s really good to know! I love that they have great customer support. I will let her know! I just hope she didn’t toss it!😅
@@Richard-1776 so, which one would you choose between the two?
Nope, this one's not for me. Not even if I could afford it. This resin is not interesting enough for me. Black pens are beautiful though. I like the Mythos Poseidon more which has an interesting look and resin. But it's not the first brand I would choose. And you never know, Mount Etna might rebel some day. ☺️💜
@@sushanart 😂 🌋 The resin is really cool (or should I say “warm?”). The idea of having something locally sourced from the area where the pens are made makes it even more appealing! I just looked up the Visconti Mythos Poseidon- very lovely! I’ve been staring at the artist series like the Van Gogh. I love my Pineider pens, so I am pretty content with them. It’s weird not having a grail pen for me right now 😄
It is a beautiful pen. I guess that each person had their idea of what a "grail" should be. I wouldn't consider this my grail. Visconti has typically had QC issues. My lowly Visconti Mirage Mythos has a good German steel nib, and writes well. But that apparently is outside of the norm.
@@user-gl5ld9vm7i totally agree on the grail pen! I don’t really have one right now. My search for a Montblanc brought me to my lovely 146. I’m super satisfied with it, so I’ve just been playing with my entry level pens and rediscovering how wonderful those are as well! Such a fun hobby! I think the Mythos are beautiful! I don’t think that’s “lowly” at all! Do you have any vintage pens? Those are the ones I’ve been after lately
This was a grail pen for me and after 4 years I found myself in the fortunate position to purchase one (18k nib). I was also able to try it out before purchase and it was everything I had hoped it would be. This is a luxury item but I am grateful to have it and I use it daily. If you are a pen collector and it is not too far outside your budget I would recommend going to a pen show and try one out.
@@stephenE4017it’s definitely a wonderful writer as the whole experience of the pen shop, feel, grip and weight work well together. Add the extra detail of the volcanic ash and the design of the book safe mechanism and I can understand why the pen is so special! Congratulations on getting your grail pen after 4 years! 🤩
I love my three Visconti pens (the Bronze Age, Divina Elegance Blue, Divina Elegance Bordeaux). They won’t ever leave the collection. Going by the reported experiences of a lot of people over the years, I realise that I’ve been very fortunate to not face any glitches and problems with any of my three very expensive Viscontis (the Divina pens each cost a little over $1k, the Bronze Age just over $700) Visconti’s QC issues are infamous and not to be denied. While I bought my three Viscontis from online retailers (and got lucky) I’d strongly recommend first time buyers to seek to try out the pen first hand, in person, at a store, before committing to buy. Or at least request the retailer to test and ensure a usable nib before shipping. The nibs are the overwhelming cause of complaints, as far as I’ve heard. All that said, the Visconti Homo Sapiens is a fantastic pen. Design, appearance, build, fit and finish, feel in hand, and the writing experience. Very worth the price, IF you get a glitch-free pen. Like many, I prefer their older palladium nibs. But their 14k and 18k gold nibs (when on song) are very nice writers, too. Mona, for a fleeting moment before clicking on the video, I thought you took a big leap and actually bought the pen. Maybe someday, you will. You should! 🙂 edit: forgot to add that if you ever buy this pen, I’m betting that you’d very likely decide that it would make a perfect every day writer (especially with the F nib). Also, while I like ink viewing windows, I don’t mind (and sometimes prefer and actually own) piston/vac fillers etc without the ink window. Because on some pens, the window just detracts from the design aesthetic.
Akkerman has many beautiful inks. I've looked at several but mostly the Israel-Blauw, due to swatches from @gadgetstop321. 😍 Even though they are in the EU the shipping is still very high unfortunately, but some day I might get my hands on a bottle. ☺️💜 I'm curious about Diamine China Blue and Washable Blue. They look nice in photos but I haven't seen any swatches of them, although I haven't been looking yet. 😇💜🙏🙌
Such a beautiful pen.
@@shortmom5764 Get one!!!!😍
Nice option for pen storage/travel
@@shortmom5764 I’ve been trying to find something that works without breaking the bank! I love Rickshaw but they start to get expensive when you’re looking for something that holds 6 or more pens plus a notebook. This isn’t too terrible for the price plus I can put it in my purse. Based on another viewer’s suggestion, I’m abandoning my piece of felt between the two sides and I’m going to sew a piece of leather (they suggested suede but I don’t have any)!
I have 2 bottles of Akkerman ink and not only are the bottles amazing but the pigment of the ink is wonderful.
@@shortmom5764 I didn’t even know about these until I saw & read about them! What a cool idea and they look lovely displayed on a shelf too!
Great video on comparison between nibs and effect on paper. In my opinion one of the best video to show comparison regarding EF and F nib sizes with the Lamy 2000 fountain pen. 🖋️
@@CarlosDaniel-gh3pg wow! That’s very high praise! Thank you for watching my little channel and sharing your thoughts. Do you have one (or 2 or 3)? Are you thinking about getting one? I was super nervous but excited to get the F nib
Hmmm very concerning, western nibs do tend to be broader , if h can try The Pilot Custom 743 its amazing!
@@Chessxx1 I’m a Pilot fan girl so your recommendation is awesome 😎 do you have any Lamy 2000?
@ noo i currently have 743 in fm nd F , nd A Keweco supra in steel and brass as well as a liliput. Honestly after the pilots idk if ill ever need another pen 🤣🤣🤣.
@ don’t even say that!!! We are all here to help support each other’s addictions! You can’t just stop- or can you? Is that even possible??? 😂
@ hey, I’d love to hear your thoughts on your Kaweco pens. I had analysis paralysis over the Lilliput and the metal ones. What would you recommend?
@ i only have an aluminum liliput i don't use it much since its so tiny, but i can tell you alot about the supras , they are amazing pens the no 6 nib is exquisite and very consistent, ef is smooth wet and sharp, a very nice trio, the only back draw is the weight. Even after 2 years the weight of the pen especially the brass can be fatiguing, this led me to resin pens gold nibs and thus the pilots, although im now interested in the kaweco professional since its lighter about the same as pilot 743 4-5 grams difference uncapped. So if i do get another pen it shall be the kaweco professional 250 hahaha and so this journey continues, but i know this is random ive beem really enjoying mead composition notebooks, they are remarkably fountain pen friendly u should check it out! Sorry for my random pen spiel hahah.
Very nice, thank you for sharing.
Thank you for watching! Do you have one? Are you thinking about getting one?
I have the same problem with my student
@@loriadriano92 oh no! I’m so sorry to hear that! I ended up peeling off all the crumbles and it looks fine. I have to say that it almost ruined the pen experience for me on this one. I hope it just as easy for your pen to remove it 💗
@KitchenCounterCrafts yes, i removed all the film but the experience with the pen, even for me, is ruined. I fear that over time the metal will oxidize. I am sorry because the pen is very beautiful.
@ soooo, unfortunately that’s how I feel 😭I’m so sorry that happened to you as well. I’m honestly scared to dip, clean, use, etc. I know it’ll be okay even if it oxidizes!!! It’s just the whole disappointment thing 😢
Thank you. I thought I was going insane. Had the same issue where I could not find anything extra fine about the extra fine nib. Very strange that they have not addressed and fixed this.
@@gunnarkelly5051 it is interesting, right? I can understand why people get nervous about ordering these! It’s a lot of money to plunk down and not be satisfied with the product. I was soooo nervous!!!😬
@@gunnarkelly5051 just curious… which pen is your favorite and why?
@@KitchenCounterCrafts not sure it matters since I found the nibs indistinguishable. I bought a medium, was like a broad. Bought an extra fine was like a medium. Bought another extra fine was also like medium. Oddly the Lamy Safari extra fine was an extra fine. Damn dirty Germans.
@@gunnarkelly5051 😂 that made me laugh out loud! I’m sure it’s a part of the LAMY Scam and apparently it’s working for both of us, since we keep buying these pens! I’m glad that both of mine are good writers- they’re being put to work. I think I would’ve cried if my medium wrote like a broad. I’ve had several others tell me that their M was like a BB. I’m just now getting into the larger nib size, but a B is too much ink for my regular paper notebook for every day use. Do you have other pens/brands that you would recommend for your everyday writing?
@ I kind of go through phases. I do often return to my Esterbrook’s. I like the Oversized versions, I wish they did more solid colors for the bodies. The nib options are fun. Liking their extra fine flex nib.
Isn’t that $600 in pens? Wowzers
@@eswing2153 it sure is! I enjoy putting cash aside with intentions for a specific pen purchase. It’s good to have goals! 😂 I know it sounds crazy expensive but I could be spending money eating out or other stuff. It’s a great hobby! What’s your grail pen?
Both not or..... 😉
@@gesa5187 or maybe both??? 😆 Do you have either pen?
How would you compare the TWSBI Eco stub to this one? My Eco writes beautifully sometimes, but it seems like after a few pages it tends to get dry and quite picky about the angle i hold it at.
@@MatthewSSchwartz I’m so partial to Pilot, that I think I might give a biased answer!😊 The VP stub is an amazing writer! It’s like it was meant to write page after page. There’s that soft bounce of the gold, and that’s paired with the stub so that writing looks amazing. I love my TWSBI stub and have written pages with it but there’s definitely a different feel of a gold nib! Does that help? I’m wondering why your TWSBI runs dry? Is it the ink? I’m sure you’ve tried flossing the nib with a brass shim or tried lubricated inks?
@@KitchenCounterCrafts It doesn't run *dry* per se, I think the issue is that I just get used to it writing REALLY wet when the feed is first saturated, and then as it settles down, I feel like, "Hey, this isn't what I was promised!" 🙃 I actually end up turning the piston to keep the feed and section saturated while I'm writing, and I prefer it that way because I like the ink darker and wetter. I've also noticed it gives me the most trouble on smoother paper. I can't stand Mnemosyne with it, it's just much too slippery. My Tomoe River is pretty good but even then I've found that Diamine inks are a little too lubricated and it feels too slippery. I am so particular haha! I like just a touch of feedback, but with the wrong combo of inks and paper it's like writing on glass, which I don't love. Sailor pigmented blue black ink felt better to write with on Tomoe River. I hear there's more feedback with the VP Stub?
@ yes! The stub is quite wonderful to write with! I understand about finding that perfect mojo with paper, pen and ink! I also love feedback so too smooth isn’t my favorite. I think that’s one of the reasons why I don’t mind regular paper. I find that just a little bit of an upgrade from 20lb copy paper to 24 or 32lb makes a huge improvement in writing and it still gives me the feedback. Interesting what you said about turning the piston- i might try it to see what happens! Thank you again for watching and sharing!
